Ruminated on jetip’s post some, not sure if this has been discussed here on this thread but if the pre T-6 phase, really a flight screening phase, were done by AF IPs, in the same way as T-6s are taught (standardized) would that have the intended effect? That effect being higher degree of knowledge, skill and ability to adapt and master a higher performance aircraft and flight maneuvers? What if the T-6 assignment meant dual qual for the IPs? Replace hope with expect, and it conveys what most intelligent people knew would happen. Hard to tell if he hoped for American deaths or just knew that this was likely the most expeditious path to peace, knowing that Iran leaders would need to save face. There is a difference between knowing and evacuating a base with a prearranged attack that is clearly an off-ramp and some clown openly calling for an attack on a U.S. base...symbolic or not.

Fortunately the president doesn't share your views on international relations. Symbolic acts are just a reality of asymmetric warfare. Pearl clutching when someone discusses it openly only makes the dialog dumber AMD less valuable.

He literally said "symbolic strike," as in we all know the political and diplomatic realities necessitate some sort of response, so I hope it's symbolic as opposed to meaningful, which would force the US to escalate. Ironically my buddy was (is) in the exact same boat. His go to pistol is a Canik .45, he also has a Springfield .45 and a 1911 so he shoots way more .45 than 9mm. His logic was the same; 9mm is just cheaper. My hiking/wildlife gun is a S&W 10mm so I’ve been toying with buying the 10mm PCC cause I probably shoot just as much 10 as 9, and I like the extra power the 10mm has at extended range. Maybe I’ll end up buying both. Decisions decisions….
