Napoleon_Tanerite
If unsustainability is linked to this crash, then we should all blame Darlene Druyun for it. Is it too late for a manslaughter charge?

vsu8992
We had them in place of seat back cushions in the Herc in the beginning of OEF/OIF. Not sure how effective they would have been, but it gave slight peace of mind. My condolences to family/friends of those involved. The consensus is it was a dumb decision to remove - 135 chutes and yes its too early to say chutes would have helped in this case.. Putting aside questions that would be raised on aircrew competency and probably the ire from leadership, let's say another OIF-type shooting war kicks off. Is there anything prohibiting a crew dog from procuring and quietly flying with their own chute? Many fly with personally purchased COTS survival gear as it is. Good lightweight chutes run a few thousand $ but as you said it offers peace of mind. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Left_turn
Each of these crashes is getting closer to home, people I knew. Fly safe downrange people, and blue skies to the crews who have gone ahead.

jango220
Them them. Our community is going to hurt for a long time. zmoney
Victoria was a former student of mine at Vance. A photo of her class hangs in my office. =\. It's a sad evening.
Butters
Please stop making this about parachutes. If you fly heavies you know for a fact, if the aircraft can be controlled well enough to put the chute on and get out, it is controllable enough to land it.

Hammer
Everyone please shut the fuck up about parachutes and other non-sense. We are in this thread to remember three friends and crew mates who have lost their lives. This has been floating around the facebook. Does anyone know it's origins? I’ve got troops in contact Pinned down by the Tali Made one more pass, way low on gas “I need vectors for the tanker.” Tonight my wounded warriors Need medevac to Landstuhl. A double A/R out of Kandahar “I need vectors for the tanker.” The Kims and their kin are at it again, In far away Korea We are looking tough, with my cell of Buffs “I need vectors to the tanker.” Earthquake, flood or famine The world needs US aid The air bridge is faster, to any disaster “I need vectors to the tanker.” NKA…WTG! We take pride in this expression. Day or night, we fuel the fight. “I need vectors to the tanker.” A CSAR helo has been launched A grim hunt for 3 survivors. A burned patch is found, now hallowed ground. “I need vectors to the tanker.” Today a crew is coming home. Boom stowed and bound for heaven. They passed their gas, now haulin’ ass. “I need vectors for the tanker.” All SAC aircrews please stand by This is GOD on “Guard.” Lemay and I from up on high “Are giving vectors to the tanker.”

Hammer
Geno Redmon wrote it. Apparently just the other day. I sent Geno a message on facebook, but apparently unless you are "friends" with an individual it costs money to send a message to their inbox...it is free to send it to their spam box. If you know him, can you ask him to check his spam messages? I would have hoped that as professional military aviators we would be capable of keeping a memorial respectful and on topic. Apparently this is not the case...
