  2. Am I completely losing my mind, or is the “Leaving the Air Force for the Airlines” thread gone? Is big blue trying to squash the exodus by quietly censoring BO.net? We wouldn’t want to allow those still on active duty the resources necessary to make an educated decision about their career paths (that happens during mid-term OPR feedback). What am I missing?

  3. Agreed. I assumed the original poster warped space-time, saw the summer-release movie, then posted his feedback here. I’m very disappointed to realize he was referencing the already released movie and not discussing future events; in the future I’d appreciate posters tell me whether or not they’re talking about the, uh, future.

  4. FWIW here’s my AFRC experience so far. Prior service army pilot with decent break in service and ETPs required. Oct 15 - “hired” Oct 16 - recruiter assigned Nov 6 - MEPS (could have been a week or so earlier but recruiter messed up paperwork) Tried to rush it to get into Nov AFRC board but that didn’t work. Going to Jan AFRC Board now FC1 scheduled for Feb 19th (imo that could have been done in Dec, but, here we are) No idea for UPT start. Don’t need OTS or SERE. Hoping for early summer pipeline start, but that seems optimistic since dudes are already getting plugged in UPT in that timeframe and I won’t be sworn in for another couple months. Will update when further along.

  5. Noted. So, when someone posts a trailer to an as yet to be released movie and the comment is "that movie was incredible" we're supposed to assume he meant the first one? Nah.... a little clarification would have made it a bit more clear. YMMV.

  7. Too lazy to search right now but isn’t that two? Careful friends, one more time and we’ll have beetlejuiced ourselves.

  9. Think he's related to the famous P-51 ace of WWII Don Gentile?

  11. So, looks like I'll be running straight up the gut for the next year and a half. Selected September 2017, inprocessed this past week with the 340th FTG at Randolph. OTS: 9 Jan to 9 Mar ...2 days later: SERE: 12 Mar to 30 Mar ...4 days later: Water survival: 4 Apr to 5 Apr ...5 days of driving later: UPT (Vance): 10 Apr (report date), 24 Apr 2018 to May 2019. Not only did I get SERE before UPT and 2 days after OTS, but no real breaks in training, just PCS travel days. Let's get this party started!

  12. If it’s zero I agree time to re evaluate. I’d rather throw that money into air show demos.

  13. ers this should be about who should get paid more if you have dependents or not. This thread should be about the year to year ass raping DOD has doled on its members by screwing us out of pay for housing. Housing that in many cases has gone up and we continually get paid less.

  14. The assumption that impact of military life on a married servicemember is more significant than that for a single one is stunted thinking, indeed. There are plenty of things a single guy could be into that are severely impacted by military service. The service shouldn't concern itself with any of them. They're personal choices and should be dealt with personally by the member. I was on single BAH for more than half my career, but it was about even between single/dependent BAH over the period of my CMR time, so I don't think bias has anything to do with it. Quite the opposite in fact. I'm able to look at a situation and come to a logical conclusion even if it's bad for me personally (doesn't impact me at all anymore, except as a taxpayer, but I would have said the same when I was collecting dependent BAH). Got dat pair of panties. Of course not. Once you hand out an entitlement, you can never take it back. The uproar would be tremendous. This forum certainly seems to know that...just selectively when it impacts others and not themselves.

  15. Not true. The F-22 5th gen capes were used a few weeks back to penetrate hostile Afghanistan airspace and drop GPS guided bombs on poppy processing facilities. Rumor has it the targets were highly defended by pitchforks and shovels.

  16. I'll roll the dice and not do ACSC. If I don't make O-5 without it and with all the other things on my resume, I'll happy drive off into the sunset with an O-4 retirement. If my life depends on $300 per month when I'm 60, something went terribly wrong.

  17. How does that work for two people in the same system (i.e., Air Force) are paid the same to work in bumfuk, OK vs Honolulu or the NCR? It's either grossly overpaying person A or grossly underpaying person B. Just so I know we're not stretching things here... exactly how many deployments have you been on? And you're saying of those, you've literally lost count of how many were due to said reasons?
