Not that the movement actually defunded anything, but it changed the atmosphere powerfully against cops. Ask the question: what sane person would sign up to be a police officer today? Understaff, underfunded police forces will be undertrained and overtasked with poor recruit quality. These events are the obvious outflow. Many here said as much back when de-fund the police first got traction.

Some states require local cops to go through their state academy, some don’t.
