Why do you think the 'trans' movement has begun as it has?  So the "under 20" somethings can have their "NON-COSMETIC" mandatory 'gender affirming' surgeries that were "affirmed" by their parents who would be criminally liable if they decided not to affirm said surgery.  Have you heard what heathcare is like for those transgender individuals post-op?   At all?  Yeah, not so great...and completely un-funded.  Enjoy your new wedding tackle.  Be careful with that "non-cosmetic" phrase my friend.

Let's not ignore responsibility though.  If you're a boomer and you're reading this: THIS IS YOUR FAULT   You raised a generation to think they could be whatever they wanted without any price...and guess what...they're asking for it

No doubt, m'fing' F the F out of the F'ing BOOMERS who voted themselves...and themselves only...into social security.

In case I'm being vague: I SINCERELY DISLIKE THE BOOMERS WHO THOUGHT SOCIAL SECURITY WAS A GOOD THING FOR AMERICA

That team had absolutely no regard for demographics or facts.

BTW (for the boomers: that's By The Way), the generation you raised is now incapable of working the hours demanded by your social security, and are unwilling to pay the taxes deemed by your generational voting habits, and are completely against...well...ALL your values because of...you probably didn't guess it...YOU

The sad part is that your values could save America.

Dear Lord Ratner: You claim to be a conservative liberal.  Will you please start acting...and more importantly AVOCATING like one?

Uh, who are you arguing with? Where did I say I was liberal? And what is a conservative liberal? Is that a moderate? If you were drunk when you posted this, just say so🤣😂

Did you miss the part where I explicitly am against trans procedures for kids? Lemme help:

Agreed on the Boomer stuff. Their generation has doomed us all.

Can't agree with you there.  The transgender horror show is on the news every day.  Unchecked illegal immigration is on the news every day.  Drug infested tent cities, BLM, unfund the police, very late term abortions, and on and on.  All over the news/entertainment feeds every single day.  The only thing I can think of that would cause you to make that statement is that you no longer consider those to be fringe ideals.

The door was opened wide for all things liberal, progressive, and democrat with liberal congress when mayhem was allowed after the George Floyd overdose.

Tell me you only watch conservative media without telling me you only watch conservative media.

I listen to NPR in my car. Nothing else. It is incredible how they twist and stretch every story to downplay the innumerable failings of the left. Honestly sometimes it's downright impressive how completely warped their presentation is. Regardless, it presents a completely different reality to those listening than when I listen to Ben Shapiro or (occasionally) Tucker Carlson.

This stuff is *not* in the news every day if you only consume left-leaning media. And it's not like they are extolling the virtues of chopping off some confused teenager's tits. They are simply not reporting on the bad parts, and spending all their time on the "emotional struggle" and bullying of trans kids.

I don't care what you do because you're a random stranger on the internet, but you might learn something surprising if you leave the conservative echo chamber. Granted, the conservative echos are largely correct, but you can't defeat an enemy you don't understand, and you clearly do not understand how the perpetrators of this nonsense are taking the moderate liberals along for the ride. It's eye-opening.

My hat's off to you. I used to listen to NPR on my way to work as well, but it became absolutely too much for me. Now I only listen to it when I want to piss myself off - which is to say, never. It's blatant propaganda. Now that I recognize it as such, I see less value in *understanding* where they are coming from. Their message is from a different universe, using different facts, using different logic. Once I grasped that, I understood there was no longer any return for my time and attention.

What we have now is corporatism, and it's bad. As long as the government keeps a death grip on the macroeconomy (through Central Bank policy), the rich will continue to have better outcomes from better access.

Yep. I wish more Rs and Ds understood this. We would have more productive conversations about how to help people out. Oh well.

Rat - you type a whole lot of what we should do.  A ten year old could do that.  What you are not doing is describing how we go about it.  How do I have a discussion with a liberal about why immigration control is important when they are more outraged that some parents don't want dicks in the girls locker room than the fact that they are paying a shitload more at the pump and the cash register?  Are you not talking to liberals?  That's the kind of stuff they will come at you with claws over nowadays.

The stuff you typed about NPR...good grief you are out of touch.  Yes, the fringe mess is all over the View, all over MSNBC, and all over social media.

Some things just take time, and other things are completely beyond your control. The sooner you realize that, the less grief you'll feel over not being able to convert or connect with the crazies. Do you honestly think you're going to be able to "logic" your way into someone's feelings? What I'm saying is that there may be no "how," as you put it. If there was a "how," then by corollary, there would be a correspondent "how" to get you to think boys can be girls. Do you think there is a "how" that will accomplish that? Yeah I didn't think so.

No. Sometimes, you just need to batten down the hatches, preach the truth to anyone who will listen, protect who you can, and let the shit collapse under its own weight - like seems to be happening right now in places like Oregon.

To not be too cynical though, honestly, the best thing to do is probably approach all this indirectly - i.e. don't focus on "defeating" your opponent or converting people to your team. Create (or participate in) good institutions that reflect your values and be truly welcoming to other people who don't necessarily think like you. Put another way: show them, don't tell them.

Facts, I’ve seen three separate liberal “friends” claim they are happy to pay higher gas prices to do their part to combat climate change and help Ukraine, no joke.  The moderate dems must be in hiding.

Systemic is the buzzword of the 2020s!   Systemic this and that.  My mom had a serious gambling problem.  Was that her fault or could she blame someone else?   Before you answer this, I must forewarn you that she is a pale face.   Also, my family is plagued with drug/alcohol abuse on both sides.  My brother did a lot of time behind bars.   Who do I get to blame for this?  I used to blame my brother for his actions.   Maybe it's not his fault?  Oh yes, I must be stupid.  He's a white guy so he needs to be accountable of his own actions without a scapegoat.

Not everything is someone else's fault.  Take accountability for your actions and quit blaming others for your mistakes.

I know some people have it harder than others (from personal experience) but quit finding excuses for them when they choose poorly (Indiana Jones).   It's not working.

Really, the lottery is racist?

Edit: Systemic.   How long has President Biden been a part of the system?   What about Pelosi?  Dems shouldn't get a free pass.  Afterall, it's the system's fault and there are a whole lot of dems who have been part of that same system for quite some time.

Too much hypocrisy in our world. It gets old hearing about how hard everyone else has it.  I remember plenty of brown kids making fun of my Jordache (extra cheap) shoes in the 80s.  They seemed to have better shoes and clothes than me.

Here’s my question: Why does it have to be all one way or the other?  Two things can be true at the same time. Your brother may indeed have made poor life choices. At the same time, the society we live in may not be providing adequate support. For instance, is it possible that your brother’s issues are, at least in part, a result of mental health issues? Are we getting people the help they need? Should we hold individuals responsible for the choices they make? Absolutely! Should we also strive to provide them the tools to turn their lives around? Also yes.

Well that's where things go south.  You got it right there for a second - we should hold individuals responsible for the choices that they made.  At that point you should've scrolled up and realized that life choices matter.  No assistance for poor life choices.  That's my $ going to wrong life choices.  The times I got choices wrong hooked a ride.  I didn't get any money or sympathy.  I got told that I failed the out of that ride and I better get my shit together.  See the diff?
