Check bogidope for upcoming boards too! Fresno and Oregon both have packets due at the beginning of February. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app Copy. I will look into the thread. I am already looking into the Bogidope website (it's dope = straight shooter; no pun intended). Long story short, pursuit for AD UPT slot did not pan out this year despite my UPT-worthy scores, but oh well. I have my PPL so that's a plus and some AD experience.
January 12, 20196 yr Sounds like Fresno and Oregon will be holding their boards on the same weekend. Oregon on March 2 - 3, with two rounds of interviews (1st round Saturday, second round Sunday). Fresno on the 3rd. Massachusetts will have their social on the 1st as well. Interesting...
January 13, 20196 yr Is it just me or do reserve units seem to hire less? There's a couple I really have my eye on but i haven't seen much from them. Do they do things a little different? One unit told me they wouldn't be hiring for a couple years which seemed quite odd
January 14, 20196 yr ^ can verify that is correct. MA did hire at least one who did not attend the meet and greet.
January 15, 20196 yr If I were to get more flight hours or complete my PPL in the time period between a package submission deadline and a hypothetical interview date, am I able to update it with the units I’m applying to? Or am I locked into what I submitted?Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
January 15, 20196 yr I doubt you'd be able to update your application during that window, although someone with experience can correct me if I'm wrong. But for sure you could mention it during the interview if you completed your PPL, got an additional rating, doubled your flying hours etc. EDIT: Looks like I was wrong (not surprising hah). Good to know. Edited January 16, 20196 yr by donkey
January 15, 20196 yr You can always email the unit and tell them you’d like to update it if possible if a certain milestone is met. Can’t hurt. I wouldn’t email them after every flight hour you fly, but a ppl vs no ppl is a big deal. They may just say got it thanks and annotate it, or have you submit a copy of it, or not respond at all. I’ve heard/seen updates done (or not) various ways.

It was my unit that was hiring and I knew them already which may have helped but I would definitely try. Worst they can do is say no. Edited January 15, 20196 yr by Kylrs
January 17, 20196 yr The 101 RQS will be having a rated and non-rated board for two slots in March. Deadline for apps is 15 Feb. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions outside the norm and I can direct you accordingly. 1546516720-HH60_PILOT_OFFICER_VAC_ANNO_11H1E_19001__20_Dec_2018.docx Edited January 17, 20196 yr by NEflyer
January 22, 20196 yr Has anyone had issues with the contact email for Tampa (63 ARS) as posted on bogidope? I've tried sending twice, including manually typing out the address once, and have received "address not found" auto-replies.

January 27, 20196 yr To those that want to become a fighter pilot, the 121st Fighter Squadron, DC ANG, out of Andrews AFB, is hiring for UPT. Check out the Careers section on our website for more information (link posted below). Application deadline is 31 March. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Tentative UPT Board will be in May. Best of luck to all. https://www.113wg.ang.af.mil/Resources/Careers/ Cheers, Holster
January 29, 20196 yr I got picked up to fly A-10s with the 303rd Fighter Squadron at Whiteman AFB last year. I spoke with the hiring manager and they have far fewer applicants this year than they had last year so if you’re looking to get in an A-10, the odds are better than they were for me so send in your applications! Applications are due April 15th and the board is in June. There won’t be any official meet and greets but feel free to try to visit during the April or May UTA. 303fshiring@gmail.com https://bogidope.com/job-listings/303rd-fighter-squadron-0

Is it an immediate disqualification to not have a PPL? I won't be able to start working on mine until May, but I am just curious how it works out. Also, is it difficult to get active orders there? I did some time at Whiteman and would love to go back, but it's tough to walk away from a active duty when I am the only one who makes money.

You could try to submit anyways and just let them know you are working on it and hope to have it by next board but you want to get your name and scores in the mix. As for orders, it really all depends. I have orders now but with government funding, nothing is ever easy or guaranteed.
February 8, 20196 yr Are you talking about Whiteman AFB in Missouri? I had no clue they fly A10s, thought it was just B2's. On another note, do you guys know what qualities a unit is looking for? I'm having someone write me a letter of recommendation today and he asked.

I know pretty much nothing yet, so take this with a grain of salt as I'm still in the applying/interviewing phase myself. But...have them write the recommendation letter based on qualities that you have. Don't have whoever is writing it say you have X or Y qualities just because that's "what a unit is looking for." What happens when you land an interview and the recommendation letter does match up to the person? There are specific things every letter of recommendation should attest to, but they should be legitimate and reflect the person they are recommending accurately. If you have great leadership qualities, make sure they touch on that. If you are a hard worker and have showed it in the past, they can touch on that. But if you dont have the "qualities" and unit is looking for and someone says you do, that could not go well for you I would think. Units look at the whole person concept from what I've seen at my interviews and from what I've read on here.

Definitely while person. Most of the time the thought process is they can teach anyone to fly. They can’t teach you to be a decent human. The A-10s belong to the reserve unit. B-2s belong to active duty and guard. There is also an army guard black hawk unit and I believe some active duty RPA. All at Whiteman.
February 13, 20196 yr Nothing yet, I’m waiting to hear back as well. The POC said second week of February so hopefully we’ll get word in the next few days!
February 13, 20196 yr Probably a solid play to ask for some feedback regardless. I know they are busy, but I’m sure most of the dudes want to help out people hungry to get in the cockpit. Just may have to give them time.
February 14, 20196 yr Did anyone hear back from the 39th RQS at Patrick AFB FL? I believe they recently had a UPT board on 9 Feb.
February 15, 20196 yr Anyone heading out to DCANG for the March 15-17 visit? If so, if you’d like to split a place/car, I’m down to save some $$$$.
