If you liked the first one, you should enjoy the second just as well. There were some very cool slow motion scenes with munitions flying; I'd venture to say that you'd appreciate it.

Steve, what's the status on the book's availability? I saw that Amazon doesn't currently have it.

Depth perception issues
I failed my depth test at MEPS too, and I sucked at taking it for a couple goes after that. Now it's no big deal. Things clicked for me after I stopped psyching myself out about it and just took my time. I'm not an ophthalmologist, but my best advice is to go back to the clinic at your unit and take your time with test. Let your eyes un-focus, focus, and un-focus again. Using your peripheral vision can help too.

Cost of owning a plane
Here's my unsolicited advice: if you have to start crunching the numbers to see if you can afford a hobby or recreation, it's probably outside your budget. If you can't walk into a Piper or Cessna dealership at an FBO without having to ever worry about the funds in your checking account for the rest of your life, then the cost/benefit analysis probably won't pan out in your favor. Don't let your pastime become an anchor around your neck. That being said, best of luck on finding something affordable. The market is flooded with killer deals, and General Aviation is one of the greatest luxuries America has ever produced. Let us know if you find a gem.

WTF? (**NSFW**)
And if we didn't have enough tragedy in the world, everyone's favorite celebrity lookalike midget pornstar gets eaten to death in a badger den. Unfortunately, the forensics team has yet to conclude whether or not Foster was polished off by a honey badger. As we all know honey badgers are notorious for their diet of pint sized doppelganger adult film performers. Link

If you are online this morning you HAVE to look at this
This. Is. AWESOME. Best quotes, "I hope nothing heavy comes and breaks my window. I don't want the hurricane in the car." and "I just saw a wall of fear and terror to my right."

Col John Boyd
If you don't have it yet, The Mind of War: John Boyd and American Security by Grant Hammond should be a staple in your library. It's a little less dense on the front end than Coram's book, but it really delves into a lot of detail on Boyd's briefings. Another highlight of the book is it's very well cited, so you can go back to find many of the sources The Good Colonel used in his studies. Lastly, unlike Coram, Hammond personally knew and interviewed Boyd, meaning a great deal of the information is first hand.

Senators Ask Panetta For Estimate To Terminate JSF Program
If by that you mean it's too joint and large to stop getting funding, I agree. If by too joint and large you mean it'll actually work and be an asset, I'm not convinced.

Les Paul Documentary
For all you guitar players, music lovers, technology fiends, history buffs, TDY-ers shacked up in a hotel, or dudes who need a break from the old lady: here's an awesome documentary of Les Paul recounting all his years in the music industry. It was done in 2007, so he was still alive to be interviewed. It's a little over an hour and a half, but it's well worth the time. Paul seems to have been one of those people that had such a drastic and profound influence in so many areas, it's virtually impossible to have a realistic idea of the impact he had across the board. Everyone from Nelly to Ennio Morricone probably owes their career to him. Enjoy Chasing Sound: The Biography of Les Paul
