  1. OK, everyone needs to "Lighten Up." My initial post was more of a joke than anything else (apparently my creative use of punctuation did not hit home). Is the consensus that what these federal employees write in this email is truly going to be taken to heart and reviewed by anyone (AI or the like)? I have serious doubts on that. If they're on the chopping block, I find it hard to believe that 5 lines to Elon is going to make any difference. I'd be happy to send you my bullet list from the last week. Turns out it's jack shit... I'm a DSG looking to retire as soon as humanly possible.
  2. Interesting take - If you want to talk time-wasting programs look at the AF. I assume you've participated in the Force Management process over the years. Did you fill out an RRF for a retention board? I went through three in less than ten years on AD. Thank God for the blanket VSP approval in my AFSC on the last round. As a Guardsman, the OPR (OPB now?) process is a waste of millions of people's time (ratee/rater/senior rater/admin staff). I just really don't see how this is a burden on anyone to show that your .gov e-mail actually has a person attached to it.
  3. For 20 years, I have copied & pasted 10 bullets from my friends' OPRs -- modified them to make it not too obvious; and then made creative use of punctuation to fill in the white-space. If five lines for Elon is too much, you need to find a new line of work.
  4. C'mon, this is pretty much the "bus full of nuns" scenario we've all received hundreds of time in the sim. Joking aside, great work by the crew. With all the other shit we worry about when landing at MDW, a biz jet crossing right into your rollout is never part of it.
  5. Hard to tell from that video. A flaps up landing is a non-normal (emergency) procedure in most big jets. I would assume there would have been some discussion with ATC if they did have some sort of mechanical issue.
  6. The upside down memes are out of control.
  7. The first time I flew the MAX, the only training I had received was a series of distance learning modules (CBTs), and a couple of pamphlets in my base mailbox showing the differences from the Classics/NGs. MCAS and LRD were not mentioned in those pamphlets. The MCAS debacle got us all a special trip to the sim for some hands-on training. I'm starting to wonder if this will drive enough change that we all end up back in the sim for more MAX-specific procedures. Purely speculation.
  8. Bro is on wife number 3 with 7 kids. Not sure if he needs a high five or a shoulder to cry on.
  9. I hope you boys haven't accidentally summoned PYB back into the chat. ETA: Oh shit! He's still actively posting on his site and clearly still lurks...
  10. Pulled my last two accounts from them earlier this year. I think the ads finally sent me over the edge.
  11. Haven't had one of these in a LONG time! Ahhhh memories...
  12. Not sure on how displacements will fall quite yet. SWAPA is working the numbers. Our schedule research guys are on it and are great about getting the projections out there when the company won’t. That being said, our D terminal in BNA is expanding further to the east. I was surprised by the construction going in there last week having been away a month or so. All indications are that we’ll be continuing to ramp up there. It’s hard to speculate, but I won’t be surprised if we don’t see further drawbacks in the near term…then sudden panic in a year or two when we don’t have the manpower. It’s like the place is run by a bunch of AF guys.
  13. While I hate to see us drawing down in a market, I'll be glad to not be flying there as much. ATC and our rampers there are top notch. But as soon as that door opened, nothing pleasant happened. Our customer-facing staff there are not good - borderline aggressive toward customers and crew members. Obviously it's not across the board, but I rarely had a pleasant experience on the C concourse of ATL. It sucks for the folks based there. I hope their QOL-shift is minimal. But there's no way SWA's product could seriously compete in Delta's hometown.
  14. How dare you people?! She is a respectable elected official and a nice lady… like Adam Kinzinger.
  15. I’ve flown with her. She’s good people. Very religious… which I’m guessing is why she got away from that dumpster fire before things went sideways.
  16. Not a mask in sight. Granted, he is triple boosted so he's got that going for him.
  17. As I recall he was a scumbag running a scumbag operation… and that was in the early 2000’s. I can’t imagine it’s gotten any better.
  18. That dipshit used to fly into the FBO I instructed at 20+ years ago for maintenance work. I’m shocked he’s still alive.
  19. If this doesn’t seal the election….
  20. Is there a statute of limitations on doing things like this? Asking for a friend.
  21. Just, wow
  22. Today I overheard three young LTs discussing the arm pain from their latest round of anthrax shots before they head out the door for an overseas vacation. To ViperMan's point, there is info out there about what the anthrax course has done to military members in the past (especially the early days). I'm still dealing with it to a degree. Yet no one bothers to look into it, and I admittedly was guilty of the same many years ago. As one of the old guys in the squadron in the twilight of my career, I should be there to mentor folks. I've been told (in a roundabout manner) to keep my mouth shut about the whole vaccine thing. Funny how that works.
  23. So reading between the lines, I see a future CJCS, the next CSAF, and a good dude to fly with at Delta... in a very particular order. I've never been an AFSOC guy, so correct me where I'm wrong.
