  1. My point is that the colleges and flight schools have priced themselves out of getting kids from non-affluent families from ever getting a degree or PPL due to cost which totally shrinks the future pilot pool. During my time on active duty, I actually met pilots who hated flying. Time for the airlines to shell out some dollars and start their own UPT's.
  2. Seriously does having a non-technical degree make you a better pilot, just curious. Most guys in this forum have had the advantage of going through a commissioning source were Uncle Sam picks up the tab and the flight training. The private pilot route just costs about $25362.00 for a 4-year degree. Then add between the cost $8300.00 to $12300.00 to get your PPL. If wasn't for the military most of you would not be flying. Another $2000 to $6000 to get your twin rating.
  3. I wonder if moral waivers were being issued then.
  4. Just listened to 3 hours of Joe Rogan's interview of Dr. David A. McCullough on Spotify. More or less he said if morbidly obese and get Covid you will have a hard time. 12% who get the vaccine will get myocarditis. Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin and monoclonal antibodies are the best treatment before you can't breath and thrown on a ventilator. But most hospitals for us peasant's will not prescribe it Most of the high level guys at NIH, NDA and the CDC have blinders on or arrogantly ignoring front line Dr's because they refuse to say they are not the smartest guys in the room. He did stop short by not saying that big pharma is pushing this with the 30 billion of profits they had. He also said he has legal bills. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fopen.spotify.com%2Fepisode%2F0aZte37vtFTkYT7b0b04Qz%3Fsi%3D_577w9a0SHiVpkfQZjFPiA%26fbclid%3DIwAR1E3jmn0zngDUupUJzhrSJ_bEXThBxOE0_54iPa1ki-FIFECYQbhjStpAE&h=AT0Q7Yuu6MBq96PJ6Eutzsn8M0saOlWhE2t4UGi3ZDvC9AlK0onqIyfUXf9CKBb31kn_-wMxZXYrozJd9G_fDKwAwLnh58aNQevwJHIzw8coLTI-VlWbvV0X6phwE3koUfU65G5HhmtymVc1T-k
  5. Praying. My wife has a nephew there going through UPT . No news is good news, praying.
  6. Not anything about doctrine or tactics but I haven't seen these questions asked. 1. Can the Federal govt party politics unite an American populace who are fed up with the lies of why we fought in Afghanistan and Iraq and now Syria? 2. Can we stomach high losses of American blood, I.E. a couple aircraft carriers, cruisers, frigates and destroyers with all hands. Destruction of Kadena, Andersen , and Elmendorf? 3. Will China if they find things going south use nuclear weapons, will we? China only cares if the CCP survives. 4. Will we able to stomach total war, using extreme violence to drown millions of Chinese troops in the sea. 5. Can we coral Corporate CEO's who will sell their daughters into sexual slaves just to have a good qtr and do business with China? Plus can retailers and manufacturers handle not getting their cheap shit from China? Would world trade disappear. and could China feed itself without American, Canadian exports? Could Americans put up with rationing? 6. And the 800# gorilla in the room, are the present POTUS and VPOTUS up for the job of being War leaders?
  7. Been reading all these comments, I wonder if it was like this for officers before the Civil War given orders to march to their home states. LT Col Robert E Lee USA being offered command of all Union Armies just to turn it down knowing that he would have been ordered to kill Rebel Virginians. Myself being retired and USAF civil service, being just given a ultimatum to comply with the covid shot, I took it way back in Feb BTW but it was my choice and I am scared of what my long term health prospects are. I believe our Federal Govt leaders are corrupt to the core and pray the states call a convention of states just to start over. I'm just hoping I can make it to my Colorado cabin in a year and half and live out my days being left alone.
  8. I am shocked shocked that you would disparage AFMC 2 level mx like that, even what you said is 100% true there are differences between a FAA certified and USAF repair station.
  9. I haven't changed CFM56's frequently, always dropped them on 737's classics and NG's for lease returns but I have changed a crap load of MEC's, probably the engines weakest feature. Always wondered why the USAF never got thrust reversers for the 135 then I worked on a E-6 and I figured out why. The 135 hydraulic system would have to be seriously upgraded to handle the volume and pressure of fluid to actuate them. So just replacing the steel brakes with carbon fiber is cheaper.
  10. After working the past 40 years on TF-33's or JT3D's anything will be a improvement. I had one stretch in Saudi where I changed 7 TF-33's in two weeks on the same tail number(E-3C). Always a oil pressure related problem. The last 7 years on KC-135's I've changed 4 engines on a fleet about 400 airplanes and some those jets still have the same engines on the wing when they were hung when upgraded from A to R model, that is what they are hoping for.
  11. If you want to leave a MDS to another you have to go to USAJOBS.Gov and apply and interview if there are openings. I'm a KC-135 guy and just trying to hang on for another year and a half, was asked to apply for the KC-46, glad I didn't get picked. Boeing doesn't share Tech data , FAA tells supervisors you can't do that. Each MDS depot is a different AMXS set up under a Group, the individual parts depot are still commodities or 2 level. At Tinker now the B-1 program is in its death throws, most sheet metal guys are going to the E-6/E-3 line or KC-135's since we have a new TCTO for most of the fleet along with PDM and Block 45.
  12. When POTUS says "show some respect" it's too late and he has lost the country.
  13. Sounds like the same argument when we were forced to take the Anthrax series of shots, back in the day I had to travel to PSAB four times and got four boosters in one year. Now back then people had adverse reactions others got nothing, everyone's body is different. Some people eat Taco Bell and actually get plugged up. It may be useless it may help you , has anyone have the no BS skinny about these shots where our High School classmates who never left our hometown won't fact check you?
  14. On 9/11 we didn't have a problem generating 24 hour coverage as we shutdown CONUS airspace but that was 20 years ago and the 552 ACW had ongoing deployments to PSAB and Incirlik plus every Red Flag. Only seeing 4 acft on the flightline because all others being used or in PDM. What happened? I was resigned to the fact I would be deployed 9 months a year, What happened?
  15. https://www.hangar67.com/aircraft/1952-douglas-ad4-skyraider-/9707?fbclid=IwAR1H3Y4C2X9B9HG8LmK4m6sKVyNgUyZ25m-dpfGe7X409R9jjhQ2luiMZtQ Thought somebody on this forum would be interested. No price but I bet it is 7 figures.
  16. Another fairy tale, we live in a Constitutional Republic and not a oligarchy and Joe Biden got 80 million votes. I'll stick with what I have faith in, God and congress is the best that money can buy.
  17. Psalm 139:13-16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
  18. Baghdad intl commute to the green zone
  19. When I was there the scuttlebutt about this was the Afghan shooter was flying unplanned missions with the C-27's , for what anybody's guess but heroin would be mine and the USAF folks were about to pull the plug on the moonlighting gig. I wonder how much money never made it to Afghanistan and got held up in a tight lipped bank in Dubai.
  20. Too bad they don't fly 135's or B-52's through mach loop.
  21. I remember when we launched for our first flights into Afghanistan in Oct 2001 the Guard B-1s handled the load and active duty birds were spare parts. You know it's all about sortie count and flying hour program, I wonder if that had something to do about her firing.
  22. I was on a MRT in Mildenhall getting a E-3 repaired, our AC LtCol sat the right seat for me so I could troubleshoot. He was shocked and got educated on what we do and try to do plus deduce what a pilot see's when the write up was noticed. We were doing stuff he wouldn't think of trying. MX vs Op's run engines with totally different checklists. During my 89th days 86 to 91 the Crew Chiefs certified by a IP had to taxi the jets VC-137's and VC-135B's down to the hammer head due to no high power run spots on the ramp at Andrews. Plus taxi them during Preflight to the VIP spot in front of Base Ops. Back in the SAC days Tanker crews who were the last to land for the day usually got tasked to do power engine runs when water injection was required, when SAC went away AMC came down and told MX they could do all 4 to water, before MX was only allowed 2 to water. I bet the young guys are going huh water?
  23. I've seen out there in the MX world when a MX Sq CC over corrects and starts giving out Art 15's for any misstep. Gets to the point where MX stops because no one wants to put their name in the 781 forms. Plus the whole QA culture has always been adversarial with the working troops. One QA write up not wearing your reflective belt or not having a laptop T.O. open to the task your doing no matter how mundane is how petty it gets. During engine runs or launches all tools should be secured including laptops, I never had it opened when pilots were in the seats.
  24. Have a friend who got passed over for Major, separated, joined the Guard, got promoted to Major, flies for an airline. Got married, now has two kids. I say it worked out for him.
  25. Well they do call it the "practice" of medicine and not science. The polio vaccine took over 30 years to be developed. Myself I have both shots of the Moderna , besides nausea when first taken I have had no other side affects since 25/03. The Lord willing and the river doesn't rise. With 23 years on active duty I also have a 4 page shot record to include anthrax and small pox.
