I remember when we launched for our first flights into Afghanistan in Oct 2001 the Guard B-1s handled the load and active duty birds were spare parts. You know it's all about sortie count and flying hour program, I wonder if that had something to do about her firing.

Back in the SAC days Tanker crews who were the last to land for the day usually got tasked to do power engine runs when water injection was required, when SAC went away AMC came down and told MX they could do all 4 to water, before MX was only allowed 2 to water. I bet the young guys are going huh water?

I've seen out there in the MX world when a MX Sq CC over corrects and starts giving out Art 15's for any misstep. Gets to the point where MX stops because no one wants to put their name in the 781 forms. Plus the whole QA culture has always been adversarial with the working troops. One QA write up not wearing your reflective belt or not having a laptop T.O. open to the task your doing no matter how mundane is how petty it gets. During engine runs or launches all tools should be secured including laptops, I never had it opened when pilots were in the seats.

Have a friend who got passed over for Major, separated, joined the Guard, got promoted to Major, flies for an airline. Got married, now has two kids. I say it worked out for him.

If I was the incoming SQCC I would clean house and made sure these guys had the EPR's to match being a POS. Seek out the guys always wearing coveralls, who's suede boots are black and have a talk with them. The B-1 is the most MX intense jet there is in the inventory, you need good mechanics not flashlight holders.

In Oklahoma we had cold like this back in 83 but not the snow, we had rolling blackouts for one day and businesses shutdown exterior lighting. Be nice to see the states get together and impose term limits and start using the 17th amendment by state legislators pick the two Senators from their state. That way they are answerable to their state house not their donors.

Never smoked, did long distance bicycle riding, played sq football,softball. Worked on the flightline but never ever passed a bike test. My buddy was 2 pack a day smoker and passed it every time. My last test before they canned it I drank black coffee and smoked cigars for a month and passed it, who knew. Before that the whole Sq would show up at the base track and run a mile and a half once a year. I think you had 15 minutes to complete it then you were good for the year.

When I left E-3's and before that VC-137's and started crewing KC-135A's the pilot insisted I tone down my formality and use first names. My first 135 TDY was to Volk Field and while I was getting the jet to bed I was shocked by the crew waiting for me with a cold beer, the AC was also the SQDO. On other airframes I have been left stranded by the crews. After my base closed they sent me back to Tinker and E-3's , one trip I had lav hose break and shower me in shit, the AC wanted me to fly 12 hours in my nasty uniform and not shower, so not to delay, the only time the whole crew intervened and let me go shower and and put on fresh uniform. I missed the 135 that day for sure and the crews that treated you like aircrew and not a duty pax.

Driving is a privilege not a right, the Government provides the infrastructure as in roads and bridges to grow economies and commerce. We to have follow the rules of the roads, if we continually violate the rules you lose your privilege. Does that stop you from driving, no, but the penalties of getting caught are severe. Just like our FAA issued Airmen certificates, it says "Qualified to Exercise the "Privileges" of a pilot or mechanic. If we fly drunk or sign off shoddy work we lose that privilege .

Looks like a farmer is going to get paid for total crop loss, the fuel clean up will be expensive. Those soft furrows probably saved their lives.
