  1. Looks like the Russian Army doesn't have Pizza Huts, Burger Kings, and or a Green Bean inside their wire. Looks like a cabbage and borsch diet at the DFAC.
  2. Maybe we should have had Military assistance command Ukraine with the 82nd airborne at the airport training Ukranian troops. I know it sounds familiar but would have Putin attacked if the US/NATO had a presence there? He would have screamed bloody murder. Now we sit and wait to hope that NATO and Russian pilots flying within eyeball range don't screw up or someone's airliner doesn't gets shot down.
  3. Worked on KC-135R 57-1440 MPRS last night doing an oxygen purge, it just got out of the paint barn at PDM. MPRS birds are road hard and put up wet. Of course, this one will go back to McConnell to be flown hard with no TLC ever given. Lucifers Chariot is an old Looking Glass EC-135 that was converted into a sniffer. Those engines are TF33P102A's, they were already used up because all the 102's came off high time retired airliner B707's along with the nacelles. The only 135's that came off the assembly lines with TF-33's were the C-135B's and some of them became Rivet Joints. The two recently retired OC-135B's were the last of the TF33P5's powered C-135B's, the rest now have the CFM-56.
  4. Some counties are still hard-core conservative, always have Californians in my town Westcliffe wanting a Walmart or a big housing development, water rights keep things sane plus the remoteness. Plus, the town is a dark skies community so you can see the actual stars and galaxies at night. Also, the county school is one of the best in the state.
  5. It's too bad that most Canadians who live in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver are Trudeau lovers who think the rest of the country is to do what they say and get Alberta to pay for it. Plus, if you live out in the hinter lands you are not sophisticated enough to rule over yourselves.
  6. Russia just shut off ammonia nitrate fertilizer between Feb 2 to Apr 12 to insure their farmers have a some for their own use. They supply two thirds of the worlds supply.
  7. Get ready for high food costs, nitrogen-based fertilizers have gone through the roof more than doubled last year prices due to high natural gas prices in Europe. Since Russia is the #1 supplier of natural gas to Europe and these fertilizers come from Europe or they buy up our stocks of it, supply and demand. Also, Russia and China have building up stocks of commodities corn, wheat, and soybean paying premium price. Good for US farmers, $5 corn pays a bunch of bills, not good for city folk.
  8. Obama 'vented his concerns about Biden and said "don’t underestimate Joe's ability to f*** things up"' (thesun.co.uk) Also , how come all European media is saying there is nothing going on in the Ukraine and US MSM says the sky is falling? Wag the dog?
  9. If it comes to locking horns with Putin, this will not just be in the Ukraine. What side deals did Putin make with China, will the Russian Pacific fleet support Xi's Navy on an invasion of Taiwan? How many troops families are we willing to send a flag and purple heart to? Don't have much faith in the American people to support this especially with the leadership team voted in and installed. Will true warriors emerge and take charge and be violent and merciless enough to end this nonsense? It's amazing when your young you want this but after a long career you bang your head against the wall to think the human race is so stupid.
  10. He asked why I didn't tell him, I responded you didn't ask and the CC signed off on my house hunting. Also told him you can forgo my retirement ceremony.
  11. Right before I started my terminal leave after 23 years, my boss a E-8 perfumed prince who always went class C when it was his turn to deploy to the desert came into my office. He told me I will not be receiving any retirement medal. The reasoning is because I just deployed all the time and did my job. You never were involved with all the politics it took to receive a Senior Rater Endorsement. Bake sales, Sq Picnic, Xmas Party, Top 3. Anytime we needed you, you were gone in the desert doing the mission. Two days into my terminal leave he called the house asking why I wasn't at work. Sharp tool this guy.
  12. You see that , I always tell kids who want to get a degree to be a English major.
  13. My point is that the colleges and flight schools have priced themselves out of getting kids from non-affluent families from ever getting a degree or PPL due to cost which totally shrinks the future pilot pool. During my time on active duty, I actually met pilots who hated flying. Time for the airlines to shell out some dollars and start their own UPT's.
  14. Seriously does having a non-technical degree make you a better pilot, just curious. Most guys in this forum have had the advantage of going through a commissioning source were Uncle Sam picks up the tab and the flight training. The private pilot route just costs about $25362.00 for a 4-year degree. Then add between the cost $8300.00 to $12300.00 to get your PPL. If wasn't for the military most of you would not be flying. Another $2000 to $6000 to get your twin rating.
  15. I wonder if moral waivers were being issued then.
  16. Just listened to 3 hours of Joe Rogan's interview of Dr. David A. McCullough on Spotify. More or less he said if morbidly obese and get Covid you will have a hard time. 12% who get the vaccine will get myocarditis. Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin and monoclonal antibodies are the best treatment before you can't breath and thrown on a ventilator. But most hospitals for us peasant's will not prescribe it Most of the high level guys at NIH, NDA and the CDC have blinders on or arrogantly ignoring front line Dr's because they refuse to say they are not the smartest guys in the room. He did stop short by not saying that big pharma is pushing this with the 30 billion of profits they had. He also said he has legal bills. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fopen.spotify.com%2Fepisode%2F0aZte37vtFTkYT7b0b04Qz%3Fsi%3D_577w9a0SHiVpkfQZjFPiA%26fbclid%3DIwAR1E3jmn0zngDUupUJzhrSJ_bEXThBxOE0_54iPa1ki-FIFECYQbhjStpAE&h=AT0Q7Yuu6MBq96PJ6Eutzsn8M0saOlWhE2t4UGi3ZDvC9AlK0onqIyfUXf9CKBb31kn_-wMxZXYrozJd9G_fDKwAwLnh58aNQevwJHIzw8coLTI-VlWbvV0X6phwE3koUfU65G5HhmtymVc1T-k
  17. Praying. My wife has a nephew there going through UPT . No news is good news, praying.
  18. Not anything about doctrine or tactics but I haven't seen these questions asked. 1. Can the Federal govt party politics unite an American populace who are fed up with the lies of why we fought in Afghanistan and Iraq and now Syria? 2. Can we stomach high losses of American blood, I.E. a couple aircraft carriers, cruisers, frigates and destroyers with all hands. Destruction of Kadena, Andersen , and Elmendorf? 3. Will China if they find things going south use nuclear weapons, will we? China only cares if the CCP survives. 4. Will we able to stomach total war, using extreme violence to drown millions of Chinese troops in the sea. 5. Can we coral Corporate CEO's who will sell their daughters into sexual slaves just to have a good qtr and do business with China? Plus can retailers and manufacturers handle not getting their cheap shit from China? Would world trade disappear. and could China feed itself without American, Canadian exports? Could Americans put up with rationing? 6. And the 800# gorilla in the room, are the present POTUS and VPOTUS up for the job of being War leaders?
  19. Been reading all these comments, I wonder if it was like this for officers before the Civil War given orders to march to their home states. LT Col Robert E Lee USA being offered command of all Union Armies just to turn it down knowing that he would have been ordered to kill Rebel Virginians. Myself being retired and USAF civil service, being just given a ultimatum to comply with the covid shot, I took it way back in Feb BTW but it was my choice and I am scared of what my long term health prospects are. I believe our Federal Govt leaders are corrupt to the core and pray the states call a convention of states just to start over. I'm just hoping I can make it to my Colorado cabin in a year and half and live out my days being left alone.
  20. I am shocked shocked that you would disparage AFMC 2 level mx like that, even what you said is 100% true there are differences between a FAA certified and USAF repair station.
  21. I haven't changed CFM56's frequently, always dropped them on 737's classics and NG's for lease returns but I have changed a crap load of MEC's, probably the engines weakest feature. Always wondered why the USAF never got thrust reversers for the 135 then I worked on a E-6 and I figured out why. The 135 hydraulic system would have to be seriously upgraded to handle the volume and pressure of fluid to actuate them. So just replacing the steel brakes with carbon fiber is cheaper.
  22. After working the past 40 years on TF-33's or JT3D's anything will be a improvement. I had one stretch in Saudi where I changed 7 TF-33's in two weeks on the same tail number(E-3C). Always a oil pressure related problem. The last 7 years on KC-135's I've changed 4 engines on a fleet about 400 airplanes and some those jets still have the same engines on the wing when they were hung when upgraded from A to R model, that is what they are hoping for.
