  1. I've shared a few steins of malt beverage with some Luftwaffe MIG 29 mx troops and they never had anything nice to say either in German or English about Russian engine technology. Very fast, lots of power but very short life span. I hope the Indians have good luck with customer service with the Russians, its like buying a printer, great price until you have to buy toner cartridges. I wonder with the Russian design philosophy if it is even economically viable for them to develop a complex vectored exhaust nozzle for increased maneuverability, I bet it has a LOX system.
  2. It has allot of similarities to the F-22 except for the difference is that theirs fly's.

I wonder if each one will have to be custom built, the weight, height and body build must effect flight handling and weight and balance issues. Plus you have to be strong enough to be able to strap this machine on you at a full fuel weight. The pilot in the video looks to be a little over 6ft tall. Plus using a helicopter to get you airborne would sky rocket the costs to price me out of it.

Do you need a pilots certificate to do this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgdIE2t8QkM?
  5. Plus the C-17 that is tasked to fly it overseas.
  6. If the Nazi's ever got a working nuclear device I am sure they would have used it against England or Moscow on the tip of a V-2. After the 2nd Bockscar bomb Gen Lemay after no response from Japan was asking to drop a 3rd one. Berlin was to be the first target but the 3rd Reich surrended before it was ready.
  7. Already been done, at KTIK we have the 507ARW AFRC and 137ARW OKANG sharing offices and KC-135's.
  8. Dammit, kicked ass, stupid typing fingers, stupid brain
  9. AZANG at Tuscon has the F-16 school house, F-15's Schoolhouse at Klamath Falls ORANG, and the C-5's at Kelly/Lackland AFRC. AETC is all civilian mx, the Altus 97th AMW kissed ass in the last rodeo. Won't be surprised when the rest of the MDS's will be under ANG/AFRC school houses with civilian mx .
  10. From a MX POV. If the AT-6 is selected for anybody in the forum in the know, would it have to be built up i.e. F-15C compared to F-15E. Uprated engines, stronger wing, landing gear? Would all AT-6's be 2 seaters, eliminate instructor seat gives more room for gas, comm, ammo, targeting. Would be a wing mounted gun like a 20MM or .50cal or underwing pod. Will they replace the canopy with a up and down version or keep the side opening? Will the prop be up armored? Wing mounted or EA-6b probe for air refueling? A-10 armored cockpit? Boy it sounds like a cost overun waiting to happen, don't it. Maybe it might be a good idea to pull T-37B's out of AMARC and reengine them with J-85's like the AT-37B, T-38 and F-5.
  11. Wonder if Jack Roush has been cleared to fly again?
  12. Being on non AMC big jets SAC/TAC/ACC it was a job for the Crew Chief to do the shit job, had a hose break on me once at Nellis and took a shower in the shit and my AC asked me why I was so pissed off about. I said nothing sir and I gave him a bear hug then went over to the fire dept to hose off, shower and change. For the rated members of this forum be glad that God his given you the abilities, eyesight, and station in life to do what you do. I close on the note that for lav equiped acft crew members be thankful somebody does this job and think how a acft smells when it is not done in a timely manner and allowed to bake in the desert sun in a closed up acft. On the plus side on the civilian end this job if own the equipment and have a contract at a airport it is almost a license to print money, one time in Geneva had to pay the guy over $1200 US to dump my 4 lavatories on a C-137.
  13. Having not been there since 2002 it just seems they want their freedom to be given to them and they don't want to bad enough to fight for it or they don't understand the concept of what being free is. Of course all the work that has gone on there to build infrasture, schools, and a govt will be for nothing when the Farm animal fornicating Taliban take over again. Maybe the POTUS should offer to any Afghan woman refugee imigration status and take them home with us when the last US troops and diplomats leave when Kabul is surrounded by Taliban and Karzai is dead or living in Paris with some foreign aid or Opium money. We never learn. Hopefully we kill as many Taliban as possible before we leave.
  14. Its better to celebrate of how he lived than mourn how he died.
  15. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/161837-analyst-military-bands-to-cost-dod-50b-in-50-years There are more guys in military bands than the foreign service.
  16. Actually if you listen to Icelandics speak that is to believed what the Vikings actual language and their direct decendents, Norwegians can't understand them or translate Icelandic for you. But the Norwegians sure gave the Wehrmacht fits.
  17. I remember all those movies to scare the crap out of the new Airmen that it took almost by gunpoint to make them service LOX on the acft my self included. After a while you were using it to cool down a 6 pack in the drain pain and throwing bugs and frogs into the pan just to see them shatter. I have a few burns on wrists and parts of my neck from splashes from it. I still service LOX 30 years later from the first time I did for my present contract job. You learn to always respect it but I don't fear it anymore. There are parts of the LOX system I can't stand, it is almost impossible to service in rainy wet weather because everything freezes up, every LOX convertor is different on how it services per tail no. not MDS. Had to reseat a few build up and vent valves with a screw driver to seat it and keep from venting so it will build pressure. Plus don't ever ever deplete a system down to zero pressure on the system, it requires a hot purge of the entire system to evaporate any moisture in the system. The only thing that sticks out to me about the OBOGS is what caused that Air Florida crash in the Everglades back in the 80's.
  18. Had to replace a few booms after they were used as a tow strap to get a sick fighter home, I remember the voice of a very concerned A-6 guy we dragged into Lajes when his left wing tank had a structural failure and pouring out gas in the middle of the Atlantic. Had a bud drag a F-4 into Keflavik with a dead engine in a February, bailing in the North Atlantic in February is suicide even with a poopy suit on.
  19. Probably would have saved a million a jet by just installing a old fashioned 5 liter LOX convertor.
  20. I thought that the slowest tanker a A-10 could catch up with is the right tanker.
  21. I will celebrate when I no longer have to take off my shoes and get groped when I go to the airport. He was just one guy in a worldwide network, this ain't over.
