  1. I thought they were The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, not the Department of State.
  2. Lower fuel burn would be one reason.
  3. That's when the flag came up; first I'd heard of it. Thanks. The more you know.
  4. Here's an interesting new policy regarding savings accounts from USAA: Unfortunately, this seems to be valid. From Title 12, Part 204 "Regulation D"
  5. ACC A3 said that soon (relative, because it has been said for years) when they reach the 10 crews per cap, that cross flow boards will open up and the ops sqs will start to get much-needed CT lines. The caveat is that the rate of returns to airframes (anyone not out of UPT) is not guaranteed to be very high. The "non-competitive" boards will consider the dude's potential for leadership growth in the UAV community versus in their respective airframe. If you're a Pred superstar, it sounded like they would keep you around to keep experience and leadership in the UAVs. However, he said slacking off won't help your case either. If they deem it will not benefit you to return to your airframe from a career perspective, you are also screwed. Personal preference was stated to be a consideration, but that remains to be seen. Almost everyone. He also mentioned that Creech WG/CC has the option to keep anyone he wants if it is someone they think will be good for the UAV community (see above), but it should be a fairly high percentage. Everyone also has the option to stay...
  6. They should pay you the 95% cost either way. What you claim as expenses should only affect what portion of the 1500 is taxed. You are claiming it cost you 500 to move, so they should tax the 1000 you are making as profit. For your situation then, with that tax rate, you should be getting around 1200.
  7. Police officer's visual estimate of speed is enough for a conviction, Ohio Supreme Court rules Officers in Ohio recently mistook a dead body on the side of the road for a deer, dragging out the search for the missing person, and now we're to trust that they know whether you are going 65 or 60? What next?
  8. Academy cadets are on active duty for the whole four years and don't get BAH.
  9. KC-135s don’t shoot (and they have “those copilots” that make it through instead of washing out). No other weapons employing platform has received so many bottom feeders out of UPT, who slid through and passed UPT solely because of the thought that, “It’s ok because they’ll go to UAVs.” It isn’t all of them, but they exist. These guys don’t study, don’t know their systems/standards/ROEs, don’t know what they’re doing, and don’t have enough self respect to try to excel. If you’re dropping weapons, that is dangerous. The real problem is the training program itself; it is geared for the numbers game, and not for producing quality crew members, so virtually everyone passes. For students out of UPT, it is not stringent enough. More is expected of studs that go to F-16, A-10, F-15, AC-130, etc., FTU, and because these individuals are competent pilots, generally, they can handle it better. When those FTUs have someone that is going to be a liability to their gaining unit, they wash out. Conversely, pilots pulled from other airframes don’t get enough training (working on half the syllabus of UPT studs), and have trouble with the human interface more than anything (because it’s not remotely close to an airplane). That one guy who washed out? He had a few thousand fighter hours. I’d rather fly with him than with some of the riff-raff that passes that FTU. That’s the circus they run at Creech.
  10. I know what you're talking about. And yes, just because it is out there in one form or another doesn't mean that it isn't a controlled document.
  11. Not sure what the situation is, but this is probably not the best if the paper is not in a military environment since the MTTP on that is a controlled access document.
  12. So they have failed one of the 690 potential pred pilots at FTU recently? With that circus, expect just about anyone with a pulse to pass.
  13. True, they have TAS and NACWS. Not TCAS.
  14. Well dude, I'm not old and crusty, and I don't get it. If the terrorists are overrunning Clovis, there are bigger issues. These guys are either at home (where there shouldn't be a problem), or deployed to a base in the AOR where they are inside the wire like 69 other career fields. Are we sending every person who will be tasked to run a convoy through this training? Seems like they might need it more. Making our guys "fly" UAVs seems torture enough.
  15. Whatever, they're all penguins.
  16. At least angels is in the guide. Dude called for the barrier once when he was landing, except he was saying it in a whisper so no one knew what was happening until the jet ended up off the end of the runway. You'd think if your brakes weren't working you might be a little excited.
  17. You also have to figure a cost/benefit analysis on driving an hour to the middle of nowhere just to pull a prank on some LTs. Sure, they can make a huge plan into denied airspace, but there is usually a good reason.
  18. Apparently the same treatment is happening to get them through the Pred FTU, like with the Beta guys, for quantity over quality. So now you have pred pilots who think they can just slide through. I quote, "What are they going to do, kick me out? They can't because they need too many Pred pilots." Certainly not all of them think this, but no one should.
  19. It seems as if some higher ups do not share the same disposition. We can theoretically put them anywhere... Air Force officials announce candidate list for basing of MQ-1/9 ground control stations Not the worst, but since the UAV community has Holloman and Cannon locked down, they could give them something along the lines of a Patrick to offset. As has been mentioned in other discussions, no one is entitled to a nice location, but it would be cool.
  20. Air Force officials launch Combat Airman initiative Somebody's picking up the Combat XXXXX program initiative.
  21. Either way, it doesn't matter; they're all in the same boat, ok pilot or not. Has anyone not passed the FTU out of UPT?
  22. I heard the social scene at Holloman just edged out both Cannon and Creech, in that order.
  23. Maybe this is a more appropriate time for this:
  24. For the Beta guys: 11UXX guys have the same commitment as everyone else from UPT.
