Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Is anyone else disturbed by this statement? Reality is not a bunch of spreadsheets and now we are paying for "greened up" slides by our best and brightest.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Yet there are plenty of things that can be done with out using any/or just a little bit of funding (like the money from expanding the bonus) When the writing has been on the wall for over a decade, I have negative sympathy for the results of planning like what you propose. And I thank the Gods of Aviation I went Guard!

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
The only reason longer commitments and stop-loss are a possibility, is because of poor leadership/management from the AF. Not because of the money in the civilian sector as indicated by the RAND report. I'm sure a stop-loss is going to convince a lot of people that staying in is a much better choice. Poor decision making has consequences, especially when there are options available to those subjected to servitude.

As a taxpayer, we definitely did not get our money's worth out of RAND.

Next Chief of Staff
Thinking about that makes me want to go wrap myself in my DD-214 blanket. I'm gonna hold off on hopes and dreams until the next CSAF proves himself after this current administration's stellar performance. You know, that whole fooling me twice saying...

Guideline from experience, multiple PCS's with less than 30 days to RNLT. The best was when I was told that they would have to delay or cancel a TDY enroute. I told them good luck finding me another TX. And congrats for you will be the first to ever PCS from your base...or that's how it will feel

AF Stuck on Denial?
An interesting take but I disagree with your assessment about security costs, esp if you have rotor wing assets forward deployed as nothing drastically changes security wise aside from extra fuel, spares and munitions that need to be shipped to the FOB. What you gain is better support at a cheaper cost. Doesn't the Army always complain about "Where is my air?!?"

Enlisted Drone Pilots
Big Blue may just make them sign on for another 6-10 years after finishing the pilot FTU. You know, just like the officers

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Doesn't matter what your Wing or AFPC says, it's all about what SECAF Palace Chase signs off on.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
Preventable? Not likely with the leadership the AF has had and continues to produce. I fear that it will only get worse until the system fully breaks or the next big war causes a purge.

Just Kirtland leadership driving a bus

C-130 down in Afghanistan
Anyone else hear about the dude at Kirtland getting railroaded by leadership for SIB findings?

F-16 & Cessna mid-air over SC
If ATC needs to vector civilian IFR through a MOA, you either never got the airspace to begin with or they call you to let you know they need to take it back. Usually that means there is some nasty weather around. VFR traffic has a right to transit a MOA. Though sometimes that goes poorly when they are not seeing and avoiding the 18 ship holding before the push into restricted airspace and the start of the VUL.
-
F-16 & Cessna mid-air over SC
Smaller airspace is not the answer for training operations as the ranges actually need to be bigger to accommodate 5th gen aircraft
-
F-16 & Cessna mid-air over SC
It can be dangerous when you dont get the call out and were fighting at all altitudes of the MOA.

I would have to agree with you that the MAF is different than the CAF in many ways, and I would go as far as to say they should be operated/managed differently as such. Much like how MX under MX needs to end in the CAF. One system for all just does not work well.

F-35 Lightning info
That was a terribly written paper by someone who does not understand what maneuver and speed mean in the BVR fight. Missiles can only do so much when you are low and slow. Its all about the physics.

F-35 Lightning info
Last I heard, LockMart wanted about $120M for one

F-35 Lightning info
You mean the gun pod that is canted 2 degrees nose low and has about a second and a half of bullets? Talked to a -35 test pilot last night, he chooses the -35 BVR, but a Hornet/Viper WVR

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Well maybe that 11M has completed IDE in correspondence or even in-res, so clearly they are a CAF expert for combat operations! My only hope is to be gone before some genius decides to stop loss or the poor decisions by upper management get me killed.

AF Light Air Support Aircraft
I said that to my Wing King and our 2 Star. They thought I was crazy for even saying such nonsense. They even said they would never find someone to fly such a platform. I volunteered. Didn't work out all that well for me after that.

That Israeli pilot never flew again. Actually got asked to leave the force
