  1. They have taken that flight out of the syllabus a long time ago.
  2. I'm sure the lawyers are already drawing up the war plans and foaming at the mouth
  3. Just join the Guard/Reserves. Get paid to do the same thing with a lot less hassle and get a signing bonus on top of it. Then go part time FTMFW
  4. Did anyone mention get rid of the Gp/CC?
  5. AFPC does not know where they are going to send you until about half way through FTU like Jaded said. When you have almost another year till you arrive to your first CAF assignment, that is many VMLs away and AFPC has not been known to plan that far into the future well.
  6. Anyone with two working brain cells saw this exodus more than 10 yrs ago. The amazing thing was that our pretty darn good upper management ignored/denied all the signs even after being directly briefed
  7. You only need a couple of hours in a T-38 and you'll be ready for IFF right?
  8. HAF A3 has already said that the CAF will accept the risk of a lesser FTU product. I would bet good money they have not thought through what that actually means for the guys on the line This kind of AD leadership is what got us into this mess in the first place and are continuing to dig the hole deeper
  9. Anyone else read this? Replace the Navy speak with AF speak, and it represents the fighter community well. https://fightersweep.com/6171/is-naval-aviation-culture-dead/
  10. The best thing for these cross trainees would be to get out as soon as possible and get to a Reserve/Guard unit ASAP. And 60 hrs of qweep a week may be on the light side. Cross trainees will find that there are not a lot of extra warm bodies around to do the work. I believe that it's a great experience for the dudes willing to try. I just don't think the AD AF is going to be kind in the assignment process
  11. Hence they show up to a new MDS as a major select or quickly going to the Majors board. The Lts should not have the same issues as the older guys, but it'll be luck and timing.
  12. AFPC and HAF just wants their slides to be greened up. So if the promotion board is what you are worried about, it should not be an issue.
  13. I just envision AFPC punishing these poor soles severely for cross training so late in their career.
  14. And you also know a lot of E crew go all E Mafia on you without the ability to take any criticism like a good aviator should, ala Kirtland. It may not be a bad thing, it's just a different cultural upbringing.
  15. Exactly. Big Blue will not see a problem until they turn around and all their mobility pilot have left. Just like the fighters.
  16. Never said or claimed aviation is the only means of fires. Some of the guided artillery works great, but is limited to just attempting to achieve desired weapons effects. I will say arty can and should be involved in any fight with the proper deconfliction. Even 8 LAARs would be far cheaper to operate than a 2 ship if Vipers. So what you gain is economy, and the ability to operate in multiple locations simultaneously while being able to absorb losing an aircraft to maintenance, damage, etc. with minimal impact to the overall mission. Unless you are going with some dedicated variant of an AC-130, a dash 8 with relatively expensive hellfires compared to laser guided rockets or cannon, is still significantly more expensive in fuel, arms, maintenance and aircrew especially if one goes down for any reason, My point of the ability to maneuver is that sometimes you have to square the corner in order to take a shot that has to be on a certain axis in a timely manner when you do not have the minutes for a dash 8 or some kind of MC-12 variant to get around the wheel.
  17. Did you stray from your safe space at some point?
  18. So what do you do when the weather gets less than optimal and you start getting shot at? Hope and dream that the big civilian aircraft can absorb the hits? There is a time and place for everything, just have to decide what risk level you want to be at
  19. It's the flexibility, survivability and lower cost than a MC-12 or Apache that makes the A-29 a good platform for COIN. Not to say there isn't a time and place for an MC-12 or F-16. BTW, good luck cramming more stuff onto an MC-12 and expect it to maneuver more than it already can.
  20. Because we need a semi persistent platform that can employ fires which also costs significantly less to operate in order to save the rest of the crumbling fleet
  21. Those were also the days without good targeting pods. If we use that example, it should be raining Preds and Reapers as they get shot from the sky
  22. Which have actually saved all the 4th gen aircraft from the abuse they have received and bridge the gap to 5 gen a lot better.
  23. I don't believe that would be true. The money saved would probably be overshadowed by higher turnover.
  24. Did you just wake up from passing out on the toilet again? Or just jealous because you love Judge Judy and drinking "coffee"?
