  1. I'll add my endorsement for Pops. $160 bought me a nice calfskin A-2 customized and fitted to my liking. This was back in '05 so the prices may have changed. If you can't make it to Incirlik, you can get it online but it'll cost you $375. I've gotten a lot of wear out of the jacket and it has a nice broken in look to it now (i.e., some visible wear around seams, joints, etc, but no cracking or peeling and the leather is still soft and pliable). Definitely looks and feels better than any of the mil issue jackets I've seen to include the "nice" one that I was issued in '02. I've made several purchases at Pops and all has held up well. They are unique in 'the alley' in that they will not haggle, but I think you get what you pay for. Definitely worth it to me.
  2. My grandfather flew P-38s out of Italy in 1945. Lots of good stories growing up, but he never told me about his DFC. My grandmother passed it on to me along with the citation after he died. I never thought much of my Air Medals/decorations and I think even less of them after reading that. He also had the most badass moustache I've ever seen.
  3. Except the office that said airman is manning is closed 'cause he's out raking leaves or painting fences or whatever and we're supposed to do more with less so he's in a one-deep job and the mission suffers because of it. Long sentence....sorry.
  4. When are people going to learn to stop fucking with Israel?
  5. Uhhh, would you expect anything different from a Bond flick?
  6. If I had your gucci lav, I'd do all kinds of reading in there.
  7. BQ, you're starting to sound like one of those navs who'll tell a pilot to "come a half a degree right". Back to your powerpoint please. (Said with nothing but love for my nav friends---ok not really)
  8. Get your ass to London or Cambridge. Hell, even hanging out in Ely is better than sitting in Mildenhall. I watched a lot of Roger Moore Bond flicks when I was a kid and thought the same thing. Then I discovered the older movies.
  9. Really? I was ready to hate Daniel Craig but I thought the last two films were great. Definitely better than anything Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton (or that Lazenby guy) ever did. Looking forward to the new one and the rest of Craig's career as Bond.
  10. Ha! "President Obama doesn't care about....oh....wait.....nevermind".
  11. Yeah, but the Services folks' pussies get hurt when you call it a chow hall. Try to be more sensitive guys.
  12. I'm going to go out on a limb and say GearDownNoGreen must be a single, homely 45y/o woman surfing the internet for cute cat videos to share with us here at BOps.
  13. I love the little stick figures stencilled on the side of the AC. Nice touch gents.
  14. "Even after spitting it out, she allegedly felt what was described as a “foreign-body sensation in the oral cavity.” That's got to be the quote of the year.
  15. Fail. Bird in Hand and the rest of Mildenhall village suck. Especially if you're trying to take a vacation, not just TDY. Either way, get to Cambridge or London....worth the $$.
  16. Kayla, if I remember from previous posts, you're a spouse right? Husband a flyer? Tankers or helos? Looking to buy or rent housing? Winter ready vehicles? Are you guys hunting and fishing types or looking for a more urban/suburban lifestyle? Spent almost 4 years there and am from the state originally. Spokane has lots to offer but you'll have to look past some warts too.
  17. AD Captains may be less than enthusiastic about going to an associate unit due to a lack of career progressing jobs being available at said locations. Want to get passed over for Major? Don't show "progression". Many of us believe the AF's version of progression is bullshit, however most will still check their boxes so they can make rank.
  18. We need Mattis the younger to show up at the Died and have a chat w/ some Chiefs.
  19. I can't put my finger on it but there is something about this guy that reminds me of BQZip's mom.
  20. This. I'd rather have the boom operator in the back, most of B.O.s would rather be there, and I'd be willing to bet most receivers want them looking out the window instead of through a camera. However, neither Boeing or Airbus are going to start cutting more holes in their airplanes unless the AF mandates it, which it hasn't. For the record, I doubt that the virtual boom station (or whatever you want to call it) has anything to do with booms falling off airplanes. Airbus tends to design airplanes to be only as robust as required. Boeing over-designs them. Every so often someone underestimates the operational stresses that the end product will see. Guess whose airplanes fare better when that happens?
  21. Yeah, but you know it was probably put together by 12 year old girls in some sweat shop. Plus, that paint probably has lead in it.
