    Not sure it's a boom-operator-up-front issue as much as it is a structural one. I've seen the boom on the 135 take lots of abuse and 50 yrs on, they're still not falling off the jet.

    Yeah, but how much does the hula girl on the glareshield of Fat Albert weigh? AMC fuel savings initiatives would never allow for something like that. That said, I'll bet she'd look good perched atop the altitude alerter on the tanker.

    I don't think anyone's arguing that heavy crews should just start winging it and make shit up as we go. Yeah, get the approach plate out and brief whatever you're planning to fly. You should also be able to land the plane by (steady now nav) looking out the fvckin window.

    While I think it's good that there is someone outside the military looking at the situation, it amazes me that there are a bunch of generals sitting around scratching their heads looking for the "root cause". Really? Keep squeezing the turnip, watch the suicide rates stay high. Simple.

    Yeah, but when's the last time the USMC changed it's dress uniform? It gets old when the AF sees fit to re-invent itself in some way (like a uniform change) every few years.

    Involuntary mobilizations are a fact of life for many units. You don't just get to choose when/if you go. That said, work/life balance is still much better in the ARC IMHO.

    I hate this argument. So, because some have it worse we should all just suck it up and pretend like it's all great? Disregarding the sport bitching that goes on in this forum, there are a lot of messed up things about the AF and I don't begrudge anyone that, after serving his term says "enough". Now, if this thing kicks off and some douche goes tactical DNIF to get out of going, that's a whole other story. Doesn't quite work like that these days.

    No. That's the problem. Israel strikes, Iran (suicidally) flexes in the straits, and we get drawn into a war we really don't want to be in. The best thing for everyone would be for Iran's entire cadre of nuclear scientists to meet tragic and untimely ends. Hmmmmm.
