  1. I thought that article was interesting, but my jadedness couldn’t help but muster a lukewarm “meh”. All these bleeding heart articles and “Dear Boss” letters just seem like more noise shouted into the void. Maybe it’s just me.
  2. Yeah, but did you get the cream to sugar ratio correct on your aide tour? Clearly not ready for the big leagues.
  3. Just to make sure I’m tracking the nomenclature, you changed your AFSC from 11 to 18, right? Pitching in from the cheap seats, I would imagine your odds are pretty low of flying manned aircraft. If that’s the case, you’re now in that column on the spreadsheet and not the pilot one. Also (unsolicited advice), do you really think it makes sense to take you to a UPT base after six years of zero flying and put you in charge of students? I don’t think that makes much sense in terms of safety. I appreciate you wanting to fly manned and I wish you the best, but temper your expectations. Best of luck!
  4. Down range viewing I recommend Workaholics, Deadwood, Westworld, Back Door Sluts 9 (saved in a folder titled “Masters Work”), and the opening speech to Patton set as your alarm clock.
  5. That story was right before the parable of the “inop sarcasm detector”. Believe it is located in the gospel of John (Boyd) 6:9.
  6. Like Jesus said, “Let he who has not engaged in a hot ménage with 2 enlisted babes cast the first stone.”
  7. Because Raptor will become self aware, travel back in time and try to kill your mom.
  8. In with the first C-17 reference.
  9. I guess I’m some warmongering traitor to my oath, but I have zero issues when we do strikes like this given the circumstances. Bracing for thread implosion in 3, 2, 1...
  10. C-146 to Duke for a T-38 kid? AD? Story?
  11. On the Thunderbirds Facebook page they put up a very nice tribute video to Cajun. I never knew him, but it was very obvious how well liked and respected he was. It’s obviously tragic that he was lost, but I always try to find solace that a true fighter pilot like him died with his G suit and boots on while living out a lifelong dream next to his brothers.
  12. Can anyone tell me the promotion increment to Major? I’m line #1950
  13. I’m not even close to a lawyer, but would using the military to aid in border security violate the Posse Comitatus Act?
  14. As a fellow oldish guy, I totally hear what you’re saying. But I also agree with the post you made in the other thread about your freshly MR wingman that loves every minute of your boring combat sorties. That’s what I was talking about earlier. I want kids like that in the AF. I don’t want a kid whose ambition is to simply get a bunch of time so he can go be an airline guy. I won’t begrudge a guy that punches at his commitment expiration (hell, that’s my plan), but if you want to just be an airline guy then go tow banners to build hours and get hired at a regional with min time and go that route. I guess my bias was showing and I get kinda irritated having seen guys in my squadron that are using the AF as a stepping stone to the airlines but they’re tactically weak and anchors around the office. But for better or worse, their 1.0 is the same 1.0 shit hot pilots (like Bashi) are logging on the 781. Such is life.
  15. Uhhh...it’s the military? I like to think these kids joined the military to be involved in military things. Not just flying TP Stalls and lunch and backs to pad their resumes.
  16. Honest question for the FAIPs: Would going to another base really be that bad? Change of scenery, new way of operating, etc? I was thinking about that as I perused this thread during my morning constitutional and it honestly sounds better than just staying in the same spot.
  17. Don’t know the guy at all so I’m not going to argue his rating on the brocrometer, but if your buddy and 3 other dudes get butthurt because the dude responsible for all the flying on the base tells 4 IP’s that they need to be professional aviators and do things correctly, then I don’t know if they are ready to be IP’s.
  18. I think I’m pretty fucking good at flying. I guess I actually suck. And I’m a total loser and REMF dipshit because I’m a Major. This has been enlightening.
  19. How does a guy wash out of PIT as a minimum 1 tour AF pilot? I’m not a UPT IP but WTF?
  20. I have a hard time believing no ELP because that’s not how you do it in the Viper. The Viper flies loops different than a T-6 too. Lands different too. PA to Viper? Having never flown the Fighting Falcon, I feel confident that the ELP requires energy management similar to a C-130 Assault landing, an F-15 BFM set, and a 60 autorotation. It’s npt the maneuver, it’s the principle that applies to all airplanes.
  21. I’m all for it. I’m sick of these German-American descendants distracting me and my fellow Scandinavian-Americans from making lutefisk and mead in our Flight room with their lederhosen and pretzel shit.
  22. U-28’s are definitely an outlier in this discussion. I remember when sequestration hit and we didn’t slow down one iota. That’s not even counting the PC-12 flying that we have trouble filling the lines sometimes because crew availability is tough to pair against available tails.
  23. Okay, I see my joke didn’t land. If AFSOC wants to buy a $20 mil jet to do FID then Godspeed. If the CAF wants to buy a Brazilian turboprop to do what they’ve had B-1’s doing for a decade and a half, then Godspeed. Just pick something FFS. And don’t ask me to do another survey about it.
  24. These political types can’t help it. I only want a safe space to talk about airplanes, killing Commies for God, and bitching about how the worlds greatest pilot is wasting away on DTS and SAPR briefs. #triggered
