1. FWIW: I've known precisely one person to apply for VSP from my little corner of the world and get denied...then he told the commander no matter what his next assignment would be his last. After that he asked his commander if he could go to SOS instead of deploying. Dude was a DG out of SOS, is at his last duty station right now. All he ever wanted was to get out, but yet the Air Force wants him in... IDE select as well.... YMMV but those that are in the top 20% already have a plan charted for them and I would think (since I am NOT in the top 20%) that no matter what those that are "chosen" would not feel the repercussions of a VSP application. If you are below the cut line though, I would not submit unless certain.
2. Huh? I was in the last one, and I am in the 2004 year group.
3. 20K Liquid Cash....Emergency Fund in a Money Market 50K ROTH IRA w/Fidelity Value Discover, Perm Portfolio Fund and some Ford, Kohls and American Airlines Stock (My IRA) 10K ROTH IRA w/Fidelity Contra Fund (Wife's IRA) Prepaid College Plan for 3 x Kids Started a ROTH TSP last year, pretty small amount I'm thinking the market is going to be in for a major correction this year, kind of want to take a cash position or possibly bonds or something to mitigate the risk. Anyone else? I know I have a lot of years ahead before retirement, just don't want to see that much money go.
4. Tapatalk blows because it malfunctions a lot and doesn't notify me of jack... I'd buy a BODN app if it could fix everything wrong about tapatalk.
5. 2004 is promoting to major. I think that group will be eligible for VSP/RIF if passed over but won't be eligible for RIF if you have a line number or are less than one year TIG.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

8. To a certain extent I agree. The problem from my perspective is "the broken" is above a squadron commanders authority. Creative commanders have gotten what their people want/need and others simply acquiesce to the higher ups. I've seen wing leadership act like the bull and get in the weeds and fix stuff. The end result was stymied morale... The average airman could only understand that his life was worse than a couple months ago. The Air Force is in a constant conundrum between managing and leading. It does not take a bull in a china shop to fix management problems. In that scenario all you create is leadership problems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk To a certain extent I agree. 10. The plane I fly is maintained both in garrison and in combat by contract. Coming from the B1 they are far more responsive. They also don't play politics and argue about MX Cnx vs Ops Cnx and after and air abort they could care less about a 2407 for adding a sortie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
11. Wait so the people leading the support of the force are actually people providing the force? This sounds like one of the best ideas I've heard of. First order of business is no more training days unless declared by the whole wing. Where is here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
12. We (1 SOW) already have rated folk filling AMU leadership positions. We don't have the ability to release rated people for career broadening assignments. So on a limited scale this actually sounds appealing. Just don't make it duties at. It would never work that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
13. There are ways to make smart cuts. Do we really need a SARM shop with 5-6 personnel to input into a program what we physically mark on a paper MAR? Probably not. I like 1COs... Don't get me wrong but one person maybe two to provide backfill and supervise the audit process... But like a lot of things in the Air Force we simply perpetuate a system of wasteful duplication of data entry. Finance. Can we just eliminate finance? Can we contract it out to Lockheed Martin? Why can't I login to a virtual finance upload a copy of my orders and receive my DLA? Better yet the system should serve the member as soon as mypers has orders avail it should flow those orders to the agencies needing them. Sorry for the derail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

15. Wow somehow I got a line number before the academy guys. Maybe I shouldn't be saying that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
16. Even if he did have the strats handed out via that logic I would think that the worst he could give him is a retain because a do not retain would have to contain comments. Those comments would have to come from something in his record. Unless he has a UIF or something in his record. He could strat him as 50/50 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
17. So your AFS would be your 11S while the code is your prefixes and suffixes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
18. Yeah. I for one have no desire to fly a herc but would love the gunship light. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19. Reverse promotion board. 1. A form will be filled out with either a do not retain, retain or definitely retain rating. Last time the cutoff was 75% definitely retain. So unless you are in the bottom 25 percent you are probably good to go. The form itself will be the best of your OPRs 2. Your OSB. Or officer selection brief. Contains a snapshot of your career. Log on to the vMPF and look at your DVB or AMS and check out your SURF... Masters y/no PME y/no etc. 3. All of your OPRS and any negative information included on your record. If you failed a PFT and your rater wanted your LOR in your record then it will be included. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Records will be scored like a promotion board Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
