  1. Nobody cares about Burma.
  2. Same reason it’s not decimating the homeless population in US. I wish we could have civil discussions about this but unfortunately civil discussion has broken down in our society.
  3. It seems we have different opinions on the man. However I know mine is an opinion, whereas you think there’s “absolutely no question” yours is fact. edited to add: sorry if this comes of like a dick, wasn’t my intent but it totally reads that way.
  4. No idea. Not being enlisted I have spent my career ignoring the position. My comment is based on personal interaction.
  5. Chief Wright was also terrible.
  6. Exactly right. I only hear advocacy for lockdowns from those who are financially protected from the impacts. Additionally, I am unconvinced lockdowns are effective and unfortunately reasonable debate is impossible.
  7. 10 out of 21,800 doses from a single facility. Still decent odds but it helps to read the article.
  8. Serious question- has anyone questioned the effectiveness of hand washing?
  9. Is this the dude who kept getting banned & changing his user name to come back?
  10. If that’s the goalpost, ok. Confirm your position is we can cease mask wear once cases plateau or decrease?
  11. When do we stop wearing masks? The goalposts keep moving.
  12. Any flying hours programmed for the 2 arriving? And what’s your delivery plan for the scotch?
  13. Tank, Happy 2021! How’s those CAA A-29s doing?
  14. My best tactically minded instructors don’t want to teach at the FTU. They want to fight and do ops. And I want to keep them in the fight inspiring and leading and teaching. It’s a fallacy to think I could send them to the FTU and they’d sustain motivation after I crushed their career aspirations because they were good. That’s how we lose our best, not how we fix broken systems. I have other great instructors who enjoy teaching the basics. Those are the IPs I wish I’d had when I was new and they are a precious resource. Managing instructors is a matter of matching talents to missions suited to their personalities and desires.... just like managing anyone. Totally separate from the discussion of appropriately matching talent to task is the question of what to do about “bottom folks.” It’s a huge challenge. There’s more options as officers age (although never a good place) but no where I can send a bad captain without the gaining unit suffering.
  15. Concur that post accident discussions, if done with appropriate maturity, can be a healthy way to grow as aviators. However it’s also true that speculative discussions without facts often devolve into useless shit, much like eyewitness reports. Unhelpful. i go back and forth. I love to chat with experienced people who can offer insights I wouldn’t otherwise know into this crucial question: how could a couple professionals trying their best to avoid an accident still experience one? The answer is relevant to me today. Right now. And the safety process doesn’t satisfy. On the other hand, attempts at having that discussion without emotional hysteria tainting the outcome are statistically unlikely. That’s why seasoned aviators try putting a lid on the talk right away— they’ve lost friends only to immediately afterwards listen to uninformed speculation that usually trends downwards and helps no one. It’s a tough situation. i think we can’t avoid human nature, which is to speculate. Since we can’t avoid it, the best option is to demonstrate the appropriate and mature way to execute it. Which I think this forum mostly does well, despite inevitable chuckleheads who abuse anonymity and dangers of misinterpreting the tone of the written word. The key here is everyone just assume the best about each other, as we all assume the best about the 2 victims of this tragic crash, and seek together finding ways we can avoid such a fate. To them 🥃
  16. Incorrect.
  17. We should be focusing on the mission that UNITES us, not the race baiting academic trash that divides us. Diversity is not strength, unity is strength. And we’re strongest when diverse people have unity of purpose in defending our nation together, executing the mission, and crushing our enemies.
  18. You didn’t address my question.
  19. I understand you’re not fond of President Trump. However, do you honestly assess Biden as mentally competent enough to be POTUS? He clearly suffers from declining cognitive abilities.
  20. I think racial segregation is a bad idea, ultimately destructive to unit cohesion and will degrade combat capability. Also curious if washouts from this class will “wash back” into regular UPT.
  21. People wash out of a UPT experimental class into normal UPT?
  22. Thanks Kiloalpha; I had intended to begin writing a reply but IRL things come up. I don’t know why I start engaging here when I never have time to continue! Just dumb I guess.
  23. First sentence: proven this happened with the Clinton campaign. Any proof Trump campaign did this? Second sentence: the transition team is supposed to initiate back door talks with other governments. That’s how you get ready for front door talks a few months later. And by “overturn US policy” do you mean “initiate new US policy they were elected to execute?” Third sentence: what does that question have to do with anything? I’m confused at the relevance of the connection.
  24. With the benefit of hindsight, what should he have done differently? whatever your answer is, imagine trying to implement that COA in the Feb 2020 environment with the other party calling you racist for curtailing travel from China. There was so much flip flopping on recommendations in the early days, that all politics aside I’m really curious what you think was so obvious.
  25. OP: the Air Force no longer refers to 208 derivatives as a U-27, and to my knowledge you can’t drop a 208 out of UPT.
