  1. There is no secrecy about the pilot. Do you have something to say?
  2. The perpetual military pilot shortage due to civilian market forces is the only reason this idea is even being considered. But I have a very very strong suspicion that the idea was conceived by HAF staffs that are 90% non-pilots in a bid to get their union to the tip of the spear. There may have been a day where the radiator wings were leading the way, but now staff is all WSOs, EWOs, ABMs, and RPA guys. All great people, but we’re seeing widespread effects from what happens when you fail to retain what you originally stratified as your best guys. If you’re a pilot and know a pilot on staff, make sure they always drink for free because they’re carrying the water for all of us.
  3. I was in SF a couple weeks ago and it was great.
  4. So Russia could take over the Ukraine? This is such a loser chode opinion. But I do think you could make a lot of money as a podcaster
  5. Reward hard work and attitude, not necessarily the result.
  6. Did they violate some part of this agreement? Or are we invalidating it? https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Agreement-For-Bringing-Peace-to-Afghanistan-02.29.20.pdf
  7. Do tell (it better not be a Corvette)
  8. I didn’t say it involved any of those planes, minus 69 points for reading comprehension. “Not a spear” GMAFB. You have no idea what the other people here know or not, and if you’re assuming you have all the answers and the rest of us are fools, rip that patch off your shoulder and give it back. Credibility requires humility.
  9. Nope, we’re thinking of the exact same scenarios. I understand how to get sensors in range to accomplish jobs while staying within ALR if it’s aggressive enough. You keep referencing WW3; does your scenario stop short of the point where multiple orbits have been attacked with nuclear weapons? If America has built an asymmetric (but vulnerable) advantage in space and is using it to attack, only economic interests are stopping a nuclear-armed dictator from letting them fly. Personally, I don’t believe in nuclear winter or EMP that much and plan on fighting after the exchange. I hope we still have something PMC with a chair in it or else I’ll be relegated to third string KP duty. China also believes in non-LO airplanes; that’s why they keep building them. They also have a luxury we don’t: they can actually build stuff on timelines and deliver capabilities before they’re OBE. The real issue with the E-7 is that regardless of funding we still wouldn’t deliver one (and it’s just one) for 2 more years still even though it’s a 20 year old existing jet.
  10. Maybe you don’t know how that can work, but I do.
  11. Why not just keep the U-2 fleet instead of trying to build a platform that can’t even fly above Class A and failing anyway? And the concept of optionally manned is worthless.
  12. Since they were already at war it’s more like the Doolittle Raid; calling it Pearl Harbor makes it sound like Russia is some kind of victim.
  13. Bill Oreilly still exists? And people listen to his guesses about economics? Jesus.
  14. 300 kts x 1.15 = 345 mph Root cause is always planning, if they really needed that run-in heading they probably should’ve had a 1m ground stop at DCA. Pure speculation and conjecture.
  15. Have some recency dealing with FAA entities and developing (negotiating) routes to get through busy Class B. I asked if they have some fancy 3D visualization systems to show all the arrivals and departures so we could thread the needle better. I’m sure you know the answer, it’s pencils and a map.
  16. This had me wondering if it’s a misdemeanor or felony. Could be either in Florida and varies state to state. Wild that it can be a misdemeanor because I’d think that any employer would see this as the reddest of flags and would want nothing to do with them. I’d rather work with a bank robber than a person that drowns a dog for airport convenience.
  17. This stuff gets to me. The absolute tragedy of being the last badass in the previous technology. The last spearman. The last archer. The last horseman. The last swordsman. It’ll be a while until the last pilot, unless the FPV kids get us at step.
  18. 43% of anything is pretty low in any airplane
  19. 69% of this forum is people talking to themselves on different accounts.
  20. Strategic tankers, nice. Deleting 59x KC-10s that could carry 340k lbs of fuel or 27 pallets was the #1 dumbest lack-of-foresight move the Air Force has ever made. Everyone knew it at the time and everyone knows it now, but the USAF is too proud and stupid to reverse a decision. Who to blame? Weak-kneed careerist staffers at HAF/A5 and A8 that told GOs that told Boeing what they wanted to hear. Every AMC/CC since Johns and every CSAF since Schwartz. It doesn’t matter if you have 7G with APG-690s and telephone poles if you can only get 2-ships there.
  21. Well I guess it’s a good thing that Kanye wasn’t in the running for any cabinet positions
  22. Boeing stock down 50% since he became Director, Americas Sales.
  23. Are you guys saying that not every mil pilot has access to ForeFlight on an iPad connected to a Stratus with global FLIP and ADS-B traffic and weather? Not being sarcastic, this has been the standard for 10 years in some places, can’t believe it’s not ubiquitous.
  24. Since the speculation ice has been broken, seems like there’s a serious problem having a published heli route that crosses the 3D visual glide path for 33. Normal 3.0° PAPIs will put you at 200’/.66NM which crosses Route 4 at exactly the max alt.
