Looking back at my points, I received points for doing SOS while on an overseas deployment, so I'd think you would get them. The only thing I can think of is if you're doing a full year of orders, you may not get them because you only get 365 retirement points in a year. break break Update to an earlier post in this thread. Oh man, you guys are bringing up some memories. PACOM TSP20ican'tremember. AF couldn't decide where to put us for our TSP and a last minute change meant we were headed to Guam. No availability on-base for an entire Expeditionary Fighter Squadron so we ended up at the Hyatt Regency, directly across the road Porky's/The Viking. $3.50/day bs is for chumps! Every single Friday was 8-ship quick climbs (became a base event with nice crowds by the end) to either fly BFM, ACM or DCA. Beer light on at 1100 for a quick academic session and off to the base golf course at noon. Drunken golf till sun down...lots of damaged golf carts, sand traps and trees, I'm really not sure how we never got kicked off that golf course. Push downtown for standard buffonery to shut down the after hours bars. Tiptoeing out of hotel rooms I shouldn't have been in, pass out with the balcony door open listening to the waves crash into shore. Wake up to scuba/snorkel/hike, beach bar, rinse and repeat the previous night...for 4 fucking months! Checked out as best friends with the hotel manager/staff, 200k points, Hyatt Platinum status and a severely damaged liver. It was certainly one for the ages! Standard AF act, our AOS tankers kept getting taken for "HHQ tasking," so we kept getting delayed. As much fun as we were having, it was time to go. So Guard standard, we reached out to the bro network and made it happen internally. The tanker unit from our state was in town and had a two tankers headed home at the same time. Since a lot of us are college buddies, a plan was hashed out, likely while having drinks at the beach bar on Gunn beach. They worked their network for us and found a Fairchild Guard tanker to get the last 4-ship home a few days later. First 8 jets made it home without a hitch. My 4-ship left a few days later and ended up stuck in Hawaii for days waiting for that tanker to get fixed. They took as as far as they could (around Durango) before they had to head home, which meant a night in Denver for the night (more Hyatt points)...but thanks to that crew, great dudes! Apparently we ruffled quite a few feathers up at ACC or AOS for making it happen, but fuck'em, tankers were headed East anyway and we likely save the AF tons of cash/headache. Some people just get pissed when you do their job better than them. I know, I know, "we don't see the big picture..." Good times.

Two questions. 1. What is SELRES ART? Is that different from the bonuses technicians already get from the technician system? We didn't have any pilot technicians left my last few years, so I can't remember how that all worked. 2. TR Bonus. Are your TR's getting bonuses for just staying in as part-timers, or do they have to go on orders to get that? If it's just to be part time, well played AFRC. There were rumors about in the in the ANG for years, but it never came to fruition during my time. We did have one thing that came out, but the requirements they slapped on it made it so one 1 or 2 of our DSG pilots were eligible. Basically, if you were prior-E, you were screwed. The only problem being, you have to go on orders to get it! . There aren't enough of your unicorn deals to go around lol.

Try having Alcohol banned on all state property, which includes every Guard base in the state. Each group gets one sanctioned Alcohol event per year. I'm not saying there isn't fight club, but it's kinda a ridiculous rule. I'm told, it came about because of a particular TAG (our "Joint Chief of Staff") that was Army National Guard. I know of 2 other states who have the same policy.

I retired having worn mess dress three times. Once as baby class forced to go to our senior class graduation. Once to graduate ENJJPT and finally for my B-Course graduation. Mess dress was the biggest waste of money ever. Hell, after training I think I only wore my blues twice. Once for an award picture, I wore my top only and had to pull my captain rank off my hat since my jacket still had 1Lt rank on it. Damn PA chick took a zoomed out pic of me with blues top and flight suit bottom, then sent it to the SQ/CC and mayor for blackmail. The other time was when a douche canoe at state required blues to interview for O-5. My ribbon rack is still the same as when I was a SSgt. An open ranks in my old squadron would be hilarity.

I have great faith in our military. They'll get shit done if they're given the keys to the car with little to no cuffs. I do not trust my government to give them that freedom. In the days of live feeds, precision everything, our leaders unnecessarily hamper our efforts. Make it fast, make it violent, get in and get out. Given the opportunity, that's what we do best.

LOL what fence did we keep them within? Looks like all we've done is create more wolves and spread them all over the ME and Africa. We probably created a few more when we abandoned them like a crazy ex in the middle of the night. Sure we haven't had another 9/11 or WTC bombing yet...until we do. At a cost that we have yet to fully understand. I guess we could have kept them going indefinitely, that seemed to be working swimmingly. It's an easy argument to make because "nothing happened," but we'll never know if nothing would have happened anyway. These wars have weakened us big time, both is manpower, money, etc... We have a service that fewer and fewer want to go into and we have an aged/tired force, and we have less money to sustain it. I won't get into specifics on here, but there are some major issues that are on our doorstep that are huge deals, with no good/quick fix. I won't say their sacrifice was for nothing, especially those in the beginning. I will say shame on our leaders for not letting our military do their thing, quickly and violently and getting out. Hindering us when we could have had OBL early on and not closing up shop when we did get him. Both times I was there, we were so fucking hindered by ROE, that I know we got people killed due to our own self imposed handcuffs. All to avoid "creating more terrorist." As if what we were doing wasn't already doing that by being there. When your EA is a star with a team of scared JAGs, that need a feed and get to dictate the weapon used...we're fucked. I know, I know...I "can't see the big picture." Funny enough, if you pushed back and asked what that big picture was, or heck, even asked something as simple as what are our objectives, you could never get a clear answer.

Is anyone really surprised? When the people who send us away from our families to endure untold hardships, have absolutely zero accountability, it's amazing that there is still any accountability at the lower levels. Things like this are why is why I scoffed shit like GTC "misuse" forms, especially when their per-diem more than covered the expense, but the location was "flagged" (not a strip joint). Apparently someone higher up didn't like my level of sarcasm in my reports...oh well. Sorry, I have more important things to deal with. Glad I'm retired and done with that bullshit.
