1) It depends on the unit. Everyone does things differently. People can be hired and then sent to FTU for the airframe. 2) Again, it depends on the unit. Used to never happen in my old squadron, only know of 2. But nowadays, there are more open positions to fill. 3) Yes. I actually hit my 20 yrs active yesterday and I can retire whenever I want.

Maybe it’s not your stats that is the issue. Most units are looking at the whole person. Maybe you don’t interview well or not a fit with the units you’ve interviewed with. Try to learn something from each interview, ask for feedback, and try to improve on the areas where they felt you had a shortfall. Look internally and see what you can do to improve.

This process would be easier if NGB would send out some business rules or some guidance. At least with the T5 push, they put out business rules to help with the process. Maybe we’ll get something in “2 weeks”. Until then, commanders are trying to get the resources to the best positions as they see fit.

Remember this is just the first round. I also understand that some aren’t going to hang around for additional rounds. Some will prosper in this round, others will not.

Look into a Joint Force HQ staff, either VA, WV, or MD for your location. Those guys are usually true traditionals, doing the minimum. I’m not sure if NGB has traditional positions or not-could be an option. You may be limited since retraining is not an option for you.

Are you willing to go to a non-flying DSG position to finish out your time? Something that doesn’t require you maintain a currency?

All flying positions I know of in the ANG are Major positions. Is that what you are asking?

Question is-does he still live there? He is now retired. And I would much rather watch a college game as compared to an NFL game, but I do live in the south and grew up on college football, way before the NFL came to town.
