Essentially, this change entails phasing in the implementation of the blue uniform as the UOD throughout the week in two phases: Phase I (effective 1 Oct 11), UOD will be: - Mon: Blue uniform any combination (no change from current policy) - Tue - Fri: Blue uniform any combination is optional OR ABU/flight suit Phase II (effective 1 Jan 12), UOD will be: - Mon- Thu: Blue uniform any combination - Fri: Blue uniform any combination OR ABU/flight suit As you recall, on 4 Sep 08 the CSAF implemented a policy whereby the blue uniform would be the duty uniform worn every Monday by Airmen in appropriate career fields and environments throughout the Air Force. The revised HAF UOD policy change outlined above (ie., expanding the wear of blues for personnel assigned to the HAF in the NCR), is not intended to change the policy set forth by the CSAF in his 4 Sep 08 letter to all Air Force personnel. Moreover, Airmen assigned to units other than the HAF (in the NCR) should continue to follow the 4 Sep 08 policy letter.

Central Daylight Time Subj: Morale patches, t-shirts, etc. Hi Hale, as you may or may not know, the AF is having a huge problem hanging on the fighter pilots (stop me if you've heard this before...). There was a new "Dear Boss" letter and General Walsh sent it out to for all the USAFE fighter pilots and others to comment on, then has been going out to the fighter wings to talk about it. At exactly the same time, the AF has come out with a new reg that bans morale (Friday) patches, colored squadron t-shirts, etc. Needless to say, that has the bro screaming and makes Walsh look like a hypocrite, so I have been asked to run down the history of morale/Friday patches, t-shirts, etc. for our lower leaders to have a run at changing the reg in the name of heritage. My problem is they came in after I stopped flying -- can you help by shooting this out to all and sundry? My suspicion is it came in mid-80ish, and probably started in USAFE, but that is only a hunch. Also, it would be great -- necessary, probably -- to have pictures with names, dates and bases of folks wearing the patches and shirts, and especially if they went on to higher rank (hint...) Can you help with this? If the 52 FW is any indicator, they are really loosing a lot of good pilots for stupid, unnecessary reasons... Thanks, Marshall

For the first time in a long time I am wondering how some of this stuff effects me. The TRICARE amendment got the antenna up, but as Rainman pointed out Tricare Standard would still offer a reasonably priced solution for my family. This proposal regarding retirement has been somewhat vague with regard to folks like me who are over 20 years. Thus far all I've seen is "20 years and beyond. Troops who stayed in past 20 years would continue to receive annual TSP contributions." I hit 21 years this October and would really like to see what they are proposing...if this would cost folks dollars, I would think this could cause a mass retirement before it became effective.
