Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
The travel office should be able to cut you a ticket from CA to Corpus if the price is equivalent to Fairchild to Corpus. If not, you may have to get your own round trip tickets from Fairchild to California, then resume your official travel from Fairchild to Corpus. This is a pain in the ass, but depending on your travel office, this may be how you have to do it. N/A when combined with TDY. This statement stems from the fact that you are required to be on leave status, even if you leave or return on a weekend. So if you leave Friday after work and return nine days later on Sunday, all those weekend days are included in your leave because it begins when you are in the local area and does not end until you return. Even if you don't put in for leave, finance will automatically deduct it from your leave balance when you file your voucher that lists the days of leave between your official travel. As Brabus mentioned, it's not a question for finance, it's a question for the travel office since they're cutting the tickets.

Check to see if your base has a furnishing management office that can provide loaner furniture while you wait for your stuff.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. There's an entire thread on Non-Availability but the bottom line is that a non-A slip CANNOT be given for a specified period of time. Regardless of the time specified, you can stay off base as long as required.

M. Obama's plane to aborts landing - controllers fired
In the midst of the FAA dealing with controllers falling asleep on the job, the press has latched onto this gem. Plane carrying Michelle Obama aborts landing because of controller error In summary, they were supposed to be five miles behind the C-17. The approach controllers let them get down to 3 miles, but reported they were at 4 when they handed over to tower. Fair enough - bonehead move on the part of the controllers, but here are some of the gems the press has come up with. According to AP, 3nm=danger close. I'm curious as to how they quantify this. Planes can swerve? And just today the FAA released that the air traffic controllers have been fired.

Short tour info
It's now policy (attached). The 180 day exception has been rescinded, which (I believe) returns it to the AFI 36-2110, Table 3.4. excerpt Champ Kind mentioned previously: TDY 300 days or more in a consecutive 18 month period OR TDY 548 days in a consecutive 3 year period = Short Tour Credit. All Female F-15E Mission
Amazingly enough, AF PA actually got it right in their article. I read the article and initially there was a quote from a female WSO (not in the flight) who basically said, "I never really thought about it and nobody in the squadrons think about it either. It's really not a big deal." Looks like it's no longer in there.

Max Use or Lose Leave
It is 75, but that's for Fiscal Year 11, so you'll lose anything over 60 on 1 Oct. I don't know if there's anything more recent, but here is the most recent article I saw.

Air Force Intel Officers here?
Not trying to be condescending (I may be misreading your post), but that pub is a joint (not Navy) pub - the terms within it are common to all services.

F-15E Down in Libya
Steve - Well played. Rainman - Well done. Regardless of platform or service, cheers to all those involved in getting the bros in this situation back to safety.

F-15E Down in Libya
No, they're wrong. Pilots can sit in the back seat in training missions, but WSOs are not "also pilots".

T-6 Down at Laughlin
Beyond UPT, formation is admin. In UPT, it most certainly is the mission. That being said, you are correct that student rides are not the time to show what a badass you are - save that shit for CT and teach dudes how to do it right. Yup. As an MR 4FL/IP/EP taking a checkride, I looked up to the mirrors on more than one occasion during the final turn to see my SEFEs arms go from the rails down to the controls. Trust but verify.
