  1. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2018/02/06/lawmaker-blasts-air-force-general-over-unsolved-hypoxia-problem/ HAF/A3 receiving a tongue lashing from Congress.
  2. We had fuel nozzles fracturing a few years ago which would melt the reduction gearbox and make the prop unable to feather and we still flew with studs. We just had to look at fuel flow on takeoff. This is also when it was discovered that the head unit for the Martin Baker's were supposed to be replaced and the SPO just said, "we tested one so they can all be waived for 13 more months."
  3. No solos, rated or studs in the Texan II. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2018/01/31/air-force-suspends-solo-t-6-trainer-flights-over-hypoxia-fears/
  4. And just for an anecdote, there was a recent guard UPT graduate that switched to a fighter unit in UPT but was T-1s. He went to RND right after UPT and did the T-38 Transition aka Phase III lite. He should be in IFF right now.
  5. FYSA Texan Drivers, AETC A2/3/10 delegated full up NTA ops to WG/CCs which can be delegated no lower than SQ/CC. This means touch and go's/whatever you want. It's on the AETC/A3V SharePoint or you can PM me and I'll send it to you. @HuggyU2
  6. Yes, pilots from non-fighter airframes.
  7. Is this board also for non-11F dudes?
  8. I keep seeing the argument about Reaper weapons equivalency which I don't understand. Sure there are some similarities but there is a huge gulf between being in a GCS and flying in a 2 ship A-29/AT-6 and employing. And then there is the argument that most of the new UPT-D guys from T-1's were from the bottom of their AD class, at least that's how it worked at CBM. Edit: This isn't to malign RPA dudes, it's my opinion that they probably would require a significant additional IQT/MQT spin up.
  9. Happened to FAIPs. The T-1 SP direct B-52 was a unique case.
  10. That's not going to happen.
  11. Milspec markup
  12. Only 4200? what a steal!
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if the first hires are within the 2 year local requal requirements.
  14. Any pics ?
  15. There isn't UBER in Columbus and there is only one or two taxis and they run intermittently. You will be able to rent a car at Golden Triangle but unless you know someone at CBM you will not be able to drop it off at the Enterprise in Columbus because it's a 10+ minute drive. If you press with your current plan, it may end in disaster.
  16. You just need VOCO And a GTC. You'll do confirmatory orders after. https://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/Docs/DoD_DTS_Best_Practices.pdf 7.2 Confirmatory Authorizations Confirmatory authorizations are used when an authorization cannot be completed prior to the traveler’s departure. The authorization should be completed as soon as possible after verbal approval has been granted. Reservations are made directly with the TMC. Airfare is entered on the Other Transportation screen and the lodging or rental car costs are updated on the appropriate screens. Use of the DTS Travel module may result in duplicate commercial reservations  The TMC may issue the ticket upon verbal authorization, based on contractual guidelines and local processes. 7.3 Reserve Component Travel  Reserve component members should consult their service-level DTS office for procedures. 7.5 Verbal Orders of the Commanding Officer Refer to Section 7.2.
  17. Any more info with the squadron?
  18. Did you include a bottle with your letter to the board?
  19. I have a few of MyFinishingTouch tags and will add a +1 that the quality/ backing material is better than mardon. As in it doesn't shrink and crinkle. And in case you're wondering not affiliated with him at all.
  20. Public-Public, Public-Private Partnership.
  21. Paul Ryan
  22. IMHO this is just the next step of senior leadership telling flyers to quit because they will be replaced. It makes sense bringing fresh from basic trainees because it will give data on what is necessary/how far we can cut to produce some sort of pilot. I think a lot of people here are looking at this the wrong way. The AF won't say it but the question is how much can UPT be shortened to make 1600 pilots per year number the new normal. That's what this experiment is for. In other words, this will enable the AF to care even less about retention and maintain the status quo, because faces in spaces, you're replaceable, red line/blue line, yadda yadda yadda.
  23. It will work if UPT opens at Alliance.
  24. Cliff notes?
