  1. I don't think anyone fully understands the long term effects of such a decision. Just because the government chooses to cut huge chunks without forethought, doesn't mean the service needs to too. We could of easily made smart cuts to TA, and saved pain to our Es and junior Os... Some people actually care about an education for non-square-filling purposes.

  3. Don't worry... illegals will still be getting in-state tuition in CA while the guy who spent 15 1/2 years away from his family at war (read deployed) will be shown the door for not having his Embry Riddle degree when he gets passed over for O-5 in a few years. Yeah, that's pretty much the same, right?

  4. I had the chance to ask the Lt Governor about this and he was of the opinion that by doing this (illegals pay in state tuition) they could then afford to go to college and become more productive; besides, it would fill up the seats that are currently going unfilled. I asked him who would make up the cost difference (increased enrollment means increased operating costs currently not fully covered by tuition). His response - there is no increase in costs, no one will pay. My response - so why then am I looking at a 9% increase in the tuition I pay CSU? Response - crickets. The man sure talked purty but in the end said very little. It is all about buying the hispanic vote, and recently it goes very cheap

  8. Well, Bloomberg can't even get his soda ban past the judicial muster, which probably causes more deaths than guns in NY anyway (58% adults in NYC and nearly 40% of public-school students in eighth grade or below are obese or overweight, and more than 5,000 New Yorkers die from it every year. There were only 237 gun-related homicides in the city in 2012), so perhaps common sense just may prevail after all... Cheers! M2

  9. We'll have to take your word for it. Navs seem to know a lot about stool and ass.

  10. Exactly...The AF wants to sit on two stools with one ass. They want an educated force but then don't want to dedicate time/appropriate resources (250/credit hr is a joke) to have people get degrees they need for true career development. I think the answer is for the AF to recognize folks that get into competitive programs (i.e. AFIT, CSAF prestigious PHD, Olmsted, IDE masters, etc...) by displaying these programs on SURFS, DVBs as they currently do. This gives credit to people that are selected for these programs while not punishing people that didn't get masters. The masking system would definitely work. Today, the system has evolved into a "for profit" joke where the air forces' intended goal of creating "warrior scholars" evolved bureaucratically into a money maker for diploma mills and an AF that celebrates box checking over tactical proficiency.
