I'm currently in the MIANG. Right now, I'm a traditional, fuel systems apprentice. I have always had a love for aviation, and kick myself for not pursuing it. I am about to be 28, the little credits I have towards college would be whatever they count from my active Army time, and Air Force training. Zero hours flying, but know of a school I'd use for my PPL. Do they do waivers for the age to be able to commission and shoot for it? Or is it just a dream/lost cause at this point in time?

I am currently serving as an enlisted aircrew member, looking to make the jump to ANG/Reserve pilot. Here is my obligatory "what are my chances". 25 years old AFOQT: 92/65/39/57/26 PCSM: 83 (97 at 201 hours) PPL W/ 50 Flight hours B.S. Business (One semester left) GPA: 4.0 My AFOQT scores aren't the greatest but I'm a little hesitant to retake and do worse. I don't have a preference towards fighters or heavies, I will fly a box with wings if it sends me to UPT. Have about 1.5 years left on my active service commitment, but I figure its best to start applying now. Is it possible that since I am already an enlisted flyer and have been …

Hey everyone! First off, merry Christmas. 2nd I know I’m a little behind the game applying I just found out you could be a reserve pilot a few months ago, let alone not be a pilot to apply. ANG is the only route for flying within a 3 hour drive for my wife and I. Shoot it straight for me. Scores as follows: Pilot 94 Nav 78 AA 67 Verb 67 Quant 62 PCSM 57 w/5 flight hours. GPA: 2.872 in Poli sci and religious studies (I went full liberal arts in college and first half was rough) I’m a 30 year old firefighter working in a city in New England and have been for the last 5 years. Worked for a large insurance company before that but traded the money to b…

Hello everyone, I am 18 years old and I am currently working on my bachelor's in aviation (79 credits completed). I am on track to graduate in May of 2022, which means I am graduating a year early from college. FWIW, I also graduated a year early from high school. I am primarily interested in F16 units. My AFOQT scores: Pilot: 99 Nav: 92 Acad: 77 Verbal: 66 Quant: 81 College GPA: 4.0 (Again, 79 credits completed), Dean's list and President's Honor Roll every term, no classes switched to pass/fail PCSM/TBAS: Have not taken yet (scheduled 1/6/2021). I understand it is hard to give a good answer without this. EDIT (1/6/2021) - TBAS Completed with a 96 at…

Stats below, originally joined the Navy with a pilot slot and right before OCS graduation I got the "NAMI Whammi" for self diagnosing migraines. Haven't had one in over 10 years. Had a good shot with Reno ANG but COVID fixed their manning issue cancelling the board to which I was applying. Looking to join a unit preferably on the west coast but will probably need 3 waivers- Age, Commissioned service, migraines. Anyone have an idea if I have a shot (pilot or CSO) or should I just stick with the devil I know? Thanks in advance. Current Age 34 Commercial SEL/MEL Inst rated Scores: Pilot 99 Nav 97 AA 79 Verb 96 Quant 50 PCSM 99 I have 160+hrs B.S. Aer…

Hello everyone, I am hoping to get an Active Duty UPT slot in the next board. I am 29, and will have my degree (Business Management) by March of 2021. I took the AFOQT in October, my pilot subsection was not as good as I had hoped, I am thinking because of my math (I timed out of quite a few questions). My scores were as follows: Pilot: 67 Nav: 56 Acad: 61 Verbal: 76 Quant: 46 I took my TBAS last week and I am in the 61-80 flight hours section with a PCSM of 72 (85 in the 201 and up column) In my degree program I have a 4.0, however a previous college transcript I have quite a few W's that I think are going to lower my GPA, not 100…

Hey everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on how my chances are looking right now. I am at an F16 guard unit as an E5 in the safety office and I am currently 29.5 years old. I have 45.4 flight hours and a PCSM of 81 and I am awaiting my PPL check ride right now. My AFOQT scores are 98-pilot, 91-Nav, 87-Acad, 87-verbal, and 81-quant. I have about a 3,2 GPA with a nursing degree. I am looking to apply to the ANG or AFRES to fly heavies. My score will go up to 85 at 60 hours. Thank you all in advance for any light you can shine or advice about how to improve. Taylor Pate

Good day all, I am a prior enlisted Navy veteran looking to fly fixed wing of some kind, branch isn't as important to me as flying on AD. I was an aviation electronics technician for four years before getting out honorably with a favorable RE code. I have knocked out my bachelor's degree and will be graduating this December with my masters, GPAs were 3.73 and 3.77 respectively. No prior flying experience. I initially was interested in flying for the Navy since that would feel the most familiar to me and went so far as to start the commissioning process, but two weeks in, my recruiter contacted me about an email he'd received from upstairs that the Navy has met i…

I am a 25 yr old college graduate who used to work as a geologist and now has plans to apply to the WOFT program. So far my packet looks decent: I have a 99 AFQT on ASVAB test. 69 SIFT GPA 3.0 with two undergraduate degrees. The only problem is I have only a former marine pilot and the previous professional engineer I worked under as recommendations. I can get plenty of letters of recommendations in my previous career field, but my recruiter is adamant I need an Army Pilot's rec. What are my chances of getting in without the army pilot letter of recommendation, and what are tips for anyone who also struggled with this. Thank you for any help, and …

Hey everybody, just got my scores in. Thanks in advance for reading, and let me know your thoughts or if there's any additional information I can provide. I'll try my best to keep it brief. I'll preface my AFOQT scores by saying my quantitative is embarrassingly bad, I know. The time limit really threw my off guard and seriously stressed me out. Pilot: 91 Nav: 79 AA: 58 Verbal: 90 Quantitative: 29 PCSM: 95 with 900 hours A bit about me, I'm a current CFI-I, former part 135 airline Captain. I have hours and a lot of experience in a ride array of airframes, including a good amount of turbine time. I'd like to fly heavies around the w…

Hello everyone, So, in the last 9 months, I've applied to pretty much every fighter opening with no bites. It's been a little discouraging, so I'm looking for some updated opinions/feedback. I'm a current regional airline pilot trying to get a pilot slot with a guard fighter unit. Age: 23 Finishing BS in Aeronautics from ERAU (finished by the end of November) GPA: 2.94 from one year of community college, 3.81 from ERAU AFOQT: Pilot-99, Nav-99, AcadApt-70, Verbal-79, Quant-56 PCSM: 94 ATP with 2625 hours, 1072 airline hours, current CFI/CFII, tailwheel LOR's from retired USAF Lt. Hello All, Just wanted to get some opinions on if I should retake the AFOQT to be more competitive for guard fighter units. Pilot: 88 Nav: 67 Academic Aptitude: 83 Verbal: 69 Quant: 86 PCSM 92 with 201+ hours. From the feedback I’ve received from two rejection emails, it seems my pilot score is a bit on the lower side but my PCSM is pretty much on par with the average for interview selectees. I have no problem retaking the AFOQT but I am concerned about the risk of potentially scoring lower. I also have 5,000 hours of civilian flight time. The only reason I mention that is I wasn’t sure if that would be a factor when looking at the…
