1. Have to go to work in a few hours so, no, not drunk. 2. Posting here, because this is where the target audience is. 3. 20y ago, I was a casual 2Lt waiting to start UPT. 4. -->On reflection, based on a totality of factors, I was dreadfully under-qualified. But somehow, I was there. 5. Pretty sure I blasted Eminem's Lose Yourself every morning driving in from base housing to the squadron, well into Phase 2. Hello all, Long time lurker; first time poster-- Open to any feedback, recommendations, critiques, etc... Becoming a fighter pilot, and officer, for the United States Armed Forces has been a lifelong goal for me. However, lack of citizenship and money made it difficult for me to afford any type of flight training throughout high school, and left me short on the prospects of doing college and any sort of ROTC back in 2010. As a result, I opted to earn my citizenship by enlisting as Active Duty Navy, and trying to earn a commission through one of the handful of Enlisted-to-O programs. I went in as an Aviation Machinist Mate, and managed to get stationed wit…

I’m applying to 6 guard units and 4 reserve units in my immediate geographic area (the more the better I’ve heard). Applying to both fighters and heavies. Education: BS: Geospatial science (STEM) GPA: 2.4 Masters: Public Administration GPA: 3.75 PPL: 120 hours SEL (Passed checkride and written on first attempts) Fun fact: I balanced grad school and flight school concurrently while working full time. Work: FAA where I deal with space launches, in the past I’ve done various GIS/Engineering work in government. LORs: senior FAA Chief (former USAF pilot), flight instructor, undergrad professor, grad school professor. (Don’t know any big name…

Hey all, newbie to the forum (wish I knew about it sooner!). Been reading around a fair bit and have found some super helpful information. That said, I'll get to it but first here's the story: I have a bit of an eclectic backstory. Compared to some, I could be considered a late bloomer. After graduating high school, I was offered a music scholarship for college (after a brief attempt to tryout hockey as a career). Went to school for about 9 months, but absolutely was not ready to be there. I worked for the better part of my early 20's in music retail, as a gigging musician and music teacher. Went back to school for music around the age of 24. Again, my heart wasn't i…

Hello all! I have been lurking these forums for awhile but now that I am done with all the major requirements I am wondering what my chances are. As a background, I am currently AD Enlisted and just submitted my application for a Rated/Non-rated slot with Rated being my preference for the 20OT01 OTS board. I am also thinking of applying to the ANG to keep all of my options open. From what I am aware, there is nothing to stop me from applying to both. If I were able to get a pilot slot, my preference would be ANG. What would be my chances for both of these options? AFOQT: Pilot - 87 / Nav - 80 / AA - 72 / Verbal -78 / Quanitative - 61 PCMS: 71 with 22 hours. 91 w…

Currently active duty, e-2, just turned 20. I’m almost done with my cdcs and can hopefully start college ASAP. My plan is to join Rotc, get a high pcsm with some flight hours and get a pilot slot. My question is what steps should I take today, or tomorrow to reach this goal. I have a plan, but what can I do to ensure it doesn’t fall through. Sorry if this isn’t the place for this post. Thanks for reading.

AFOQT: Pilot (94), Nav (77), Acad Aptitude (54), Verb (70), Quantitative (41) PCSM: 94 I am already a rated military pilot, and am looking to go blue. I am applying for an Air National Guard unit and just gathering all my paperwork up for their application packet. How do my numbers look after my first run of everything....keep in mind...I haven't been in college since 2008 which is probably why some scores were not to great.

Feeling super bad about this one. Had an interview with a fighter squadron not too long ago and the topic of vaccines came up because I asked about it. I am not opposed to the Covid-19 vaccine but I just haven't gotten it yet. Figured I would receive it if I could hopefully get hired. It seemed like this thought process was not well received and now I am losing a lot of sleep. Should I have kept my mouth shut about this and should I go and get the vaccine now so this isn't an issue anymore?

Hey everyone, new here but I've been lurking for a little bit. Just wanted to get some opinions on my application that I just submitted and what I could work on if I'm not selected. Some details about me... I graduated with a 3.36 GPA in mechanical engineering, but my engineering GPA is 3.81. I have a lot of flight hours, 87 or so, and will have my PPL in the next two weeks (my club makes me take a mock checkride before the real deal and the mock one is this Monday.) My AFOQT scores are 95/92/87/65/99 which puts my PCSM at 86. I have a lot of leadership experience from internships, class projects, and even management and team leader positions in the work force. I did…

Long story short, Current MSgt AGR, Work at a bomb range (non flying wing). Recently completed my Bachelors. 11 years in, DSG from 2010-2016, AGR since. Have been able to be exposed to all types of aviation due to my current job. Have recently (2019) decided that pursuing an aviation career is what I want. I should finish my PPL this spring. Hello all, I'm in my last year of college and I'm looking to become a military pilot. Here's some personal information. Age: 22 I currently fly for a regional airline on the CRJ200, I have around 3,000 hours of flight time. Current GPA is 3.69. This semester I should get a 4.0 and I'm estimating I will graduate with a high 3.7. I don't care about base or aircraft assignments, and I'm interested in the guard/reserve. My only medical condition is my vision. It's currently -2.25/-2.50. Otherwise I've held a FAA 1st class medical for years. Just began studying for the AFOQT. Aiming to take it mid December early January. I h…

My dad was a KC-135 nav and I've always dreamed of flying. I've fluctuated in seriousness but now that I'm a year away from graduating,(Dec 2017) I've decided to go all in for it. Hello All, I am looking for some clarification and possibly recommendations on the process I should take. Starting with where I am at: I am turning 29 in December I am on track to graduate with a bachelors in Business Management in July of 2021 (if I keep it up with a 4.0 GPA) Studying my a** off for the AFOQT as well as trying to hone TBAS skills, exam scheduled 2nd week of October. I have about 15 flight hours, gaining at about 5/week and hoping to be in the 41-60 slot by November (weather permitting, lots of smoke in CA creating lots of IFR) I originally swore into an enlisted reserve position, however, I never shippe…

About a year ago I enlisted into the ANG with the prospect of eventually becoming a flying officer. To make a long story short, it took over 8 months to schedule me for BMT (I planned to leave before a 3 month span, as my recruiter almost assured to me) In addition, I had a BMT date scheduled but no tech school date (apparently they were all booked up for my chosen field) I felt like waiting was only delaying my goals so I decided to pursue a discharge from the delayed entry program. My questions are the following: Can I still become a flying officer? Did I make it even more difficult to obtain a UPT slot? How will a hiring board view this discharge? Would I…
