I am currently in ROTC and will be going to field training this summer and commissioning in 06. I was wondering if anyone knew what my options are as far as going ANG after commissioning or if thats even possible. Any input would help.

Hello everyone. I'm now a ROTC cadet looking at Reserve and Guard options. I should hopefully be commissioning in 2019. I have been searching for RPA and Space Ops units, but unsure which units are still operating with the same mission at this time, since most information online is from years ago. The ANG website is more straightforward, but the Air Force Reserve is not so much regarding what positions are available in which units. I'd greatly appreciate if any of you have information as to which units are available for me to consider applying to for ANG and ARC for RPA pilot and space operations officer positions. I know it's pretty early but ideally, I'd like to b…

Does anyone have any info on if it is possible to do the RPA or ABM route through the ANG, go to OTS all that, and then switch over to manned flying and go to UPT year or two later after training. Or do you get trapped into the job? Just trying to see if that is a good option in the current flying hiring environment, or if it's just better to keep applying to UPT boards and being patient.

Dudes/Dudettes, I don't know where else to turn but I'm running out of steam for this whole process. Life is getting me down. It's been my dream to fly fighters since I was a kid but there were a lot of hiccups on the way there, but I'm still not even at the finish line. I haven't landed any fighter interviews yet and I've broadened my horizons to AD to try my hand there. But I missed this board because my recruiter wouldn't talk to me or would take too long to respond. Below are my stats: AFOQT: P99 N89 AA33 V35 Q31 PCSM: 99 GPA: 3.07 (English) Flight Hours: 23 (Solo) The kicker is, I'm 31. I was so stoked to see the age limit be rais…

Good evening gentlemen, I hope y'all had a good thanksgiving! 🙂 I have a question I was hoping to shoot y'all. I got back from BMT and tech school a month ago and have been loving AFE. ive met a couple of the pilots in the crossing and have started to get my face around and politely let them know that I would love to fly fighters for the squadron. I recently went up to the pilot room and met one of the hiring board pilots and he gave me some great advice of how I can make a good impression. he suggested I come up every drill after work and just talk to them, and if possible stay behind late to help clean up. I thought this was great advice and id love to hear more fr…

Afternoon all, I have a few questions regarding rushing units, if I can even visit the ones I'd like to due to covid. My main question is, should I show up in uniform as I'm a DSG ANG enlisted member even though I'm in civilian status? My plan is to fly to an airport nearby, grab a FBO vehicle and visit the squadron. I don't want to show up in civilian clothes and introduce myself as TSgt and look like a tard doing so. Thanks

Heard a nasty rumor that for next year's festivities (i.e involuntary mobilization) the Guard Bureau is looking for a way not to activate anyone who is in the Sanctuary Zone. If this is true what’s the point of signing Sanctuary letters anymore if they kill the one chance of getting Sanctuary. This is all through the grapevine so I don’t know how true it is but I’m willing to bet Big Blue is all worried about a handful of Guardsman and Reservists getting an AD retirement and is starting to put pressure on units to keep people from getting Sanctuary.

The Savannah Air Dominance Center is looking for 2002-2004 current and qualified 11F's for a minimum 4 year AGR tour. This position is an APIA-6 position, meaning the individual will still have to fly as an attached pilot with their old unit or find a local unit near Savannah to gain you as an attached pilot. Units around Sav include the SCANG, FANG, Montgomery, DC, VANG, Burlington. The ADC has a travel budget and will pay TDY costs associated with maintaining RAP. Please PM me if you are interested Hawk PM/DO SAV Air Dominance Center check us out on FB at The Air Dominance Center

Thought I would spread the word on this development. A few days ago, someone on the Air Force OTS subreddit alleged A3 told them that FY25 UPT slots for the Guard were cut significantly. Then, today, the 157th FS in SC sent a memo to applicants stating that no FY24 hiring boards would be held stating: "The number of UPT class dates available to Air National Guard fighter units has been cut dramatically. The South Carolina Air National Guard currently has three individuals who have been selected to attend pilot training, and none of those three will be able to conduct training starting in Fiscal Year 2025. It would be irresponsible to conduct a hiring board in 20…

Apologies if this has been answered but I couldn't find it via search. I know how it works for those on the AD side, but unsure for guard. Hypothetical: If one currently lives in a state with 0% income tax and is selected by a guard unit in a state with double digit income tax, can you and your spouse maintain your domicile in the original state? For how long can you do so? Would it just be for the time from when you start (leaving for OTS) through the end of seasoning? Can you extend it indefinitely as long as you maintain full-time/active status? Do you lose it once you are no longer full-time/active status (and is that loss permanent)?

I'm a former USAF active duty O-3 considering a slot in my state's Army National Guard unit. I separated at four years, with another four on my DD-214 for my MSO in the IRR. Can someone elaborate on the process to be pulled out of USAF IRR and placed in the Army Guard? Is it similar to the process that would occur if I decided to join an Air Reserve or Air Guard unit?

I've heard of dudes doing their seasoning at locals other than their guard unit. My particular unit (A-10s) says they guarantee a two year seasoning period and lately I've been tossing around the idea of trying to do a year of that seasoning in Korea or Germany. Any thoughts from more experienced guys than myself on this?

I am a new TR with a full-time position at SWA, using SWA health insurance soley, no Tricare. If I need to see Flight Medicine or some other on-base doctor for something that is AF related, how does the insurance work? For instance, I need to be seen for my annual contact lens program examination. Since this is AF specific, do I just book with the on-base optometrist and it is treated as if I am on AD? What about if I needed to get put on a profile for a PFT? I'm just looking for AF specific issues, not a common cold or something where I could go anywhere.

This article details the USAF's recent decision to give the 127th 12 KC-46's. What are your thoughts on the 107th losing their fighter mission once the A-10 is divested. It seems like a Michigan based fighter mission has been on the chopping block for several decades now. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2024/01/12/selfridge-air-national-guard-base-picked-to-host-kc-46-squadron/

So I found out that either 0 or 30% disability will get you your VA funding fee waived. My first goal is to expedite my VA claim because I close in approx ~60 days. Does anyone know if this is possible? Like how fast a fully developed claim takes? What is my fastest option to get even a 0% disability rating? Second concern, is that disability rating disclosed to anyone? I am currently in the guard, does that have to be disclosed to the flt doc? Does a 10% disability rating for say slight hearing loss, or the knee pain i sustained from an injury a couple years ago prevent me from now flying or if I decide to switch units, will that unit scrutinize such a rating e…

Dumb question, but I've gone through vPC-GR and not had much luck finding a straightforward answer. I'm an IMA with no service committments, what would be the process for separating from the ready reserve? When I left active duty I just filled out the form on vMPF self service actions and that was that. Is it this same for reservists? Any limitations for advance notice to separate? For active duty, if I remember correctly, it was no less than 6 months and no more than 12 to establish a separation date. Any other gotchas you all have seen? Thanks much!

As much as this forum is helpful, this is for all prospective candidates. SHOOT YOUR SHOT. Many people get on here to brag about their 99+ scores and what not. Put your best foot forward and don't let regret look you in the rearview. Most folks can see if mom and dad paid for every thing, Work as hard as the day is long and do the best you can, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised where you end up. I'm a prospective candidate at 29, 10+ years prior enlisted. It took me a little while but here I am. Let me know if you have any questions.

Greetings all! I'm new to this forum, and I'm looking for some guidance.I'm in phase III of UPT, and my C-17 reserve unit wants to put me on a 1 year active duty tour after Altus. This would be great, however due to, USSERA, civilian job and family issues, I was counting on the 6 month tour they told me about prior to UPT. Is it considered un-cooth to ask if the one year can be shortened? Any input would be appreciated!

I did some searching, but no avail. I'm looking into the possibility of being a sim IP (GS-12 position) as well as a TR at a UPT base. For those of you that have done both, any pros and cons? Recommendations? Things you liked/didn't like? Would the pay be better, equal or worse than what I currently earn?

https://access.afpc.af.mil/pcsmdmz/Form T.HTML The site above gives information about the new AFOQT Form T. I just have 2 issues: (1) It says that the Pilot score no longer incorporates Airthmetic Reasoning (AR) (2) It says that the Instrument Comprehension section is only 5 minutes long Can anyone confirm these two changes are actually true? Or is it just repeated typos?

Hi I'm a 17 year old private pilot who is working on my IR. I'm wondering how important extra ratings are to the ANG/AFRes. I'm not planning on enlisting during college, but Ill probably get good grades. Should I work my tail off to get the money for Multi, Comm, and CFI or should I stop at instrument? Thanks, and sorry if this is in the wrong place. I couldn't find any threads answering this question.
