Here is the situation, I am prior service with ten years enlisted. I have recently completed a commissioning program and have been on hold to enter active duty due to the draw down. I am two weeks out from my training start dates and I still do not have orders. What we have been told is that AFPC finance is backed up with thousands of orders and apparently no method for completing them for individuals who are leaving in the next few weeks. My concerns are the following: can I proceed to training without orders, how can I PCS my family to my gaining station without orders, and how do I cover the cost of my training since I do not have a GTC. I would appreciate any advice a…

I used to be pretty active in this forum when I was interviewing with the guard/af reserve. I got sick of sitting around so I joined the Marines. I was voluntold to go to Primary at Vance, so I was trying to see if anyone was looking for a roommate. I was looking to get a place with a extra room that we can use for studying. If your interested hit me up at guim13@aol.com. Good luck to the rest of you guys who have not been picked up yet. Navy down here is fighting to keep their slots and we dont have any slots for fy2011, so flight school the hard way is out for at least a year.

You've herad the rumors, you've said, "No way" there's no way they can PT test in the desert. Well ladies and gentlemen, it's official. Starting 1 October, desert PT testing is here. Read the attachment and enjoy. Yet another reason not to deploy. AFCENT PT POLICY.pdf

  4. Hopefully they find the second person. Another article mentioned that there was a report that both pilots were out and clinging to the side of the plane before it sank. 50 degree air temp and 50 degree water at the time of the crash, hopefully they find the other pilot soon. T-34 from NAS Whiting Field crashes in Lake Pontchartrain January 24, 2010 1:35 PM A T-34C Turbomentor went down in Lake Pontchartrain at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday. So, I get the letter in the mail last week (while I'm deployed) saying that I owe the gov't money from a PCS that is 4+ years old. Any chance they waited too long to send out this request and I can totally disregard it? Is there a statute of limitations on when they can ask for this money back? I've searched the boards with no luck, and then I tried to search the DFAS website, might as well just asked to be kicked in the nuts for 30 minutes. The getting kicked in the nuts would have been more fun. Already tried everything I can think of. Would appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks guys. Edit for spelling--three times. Apparently I really suck at spelling…

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should subscribe to Jeppesen. Anybody have any comments on this? I've heard that military pilots only use NOS. Is this true?

Just ran across this on YouTube and thought some of you might find it interesting (Warning: it's about an hour long) Oh, he also mentions Lanchester bombers when he means Lancaster bombers, but realize that the Lanchester was a civilian version of the same airplane; seems like an honest mistake.

This is a couple months old, but I just had it sent to me. Seeing a fallen soldier home There is more to the article where the author does a good job following up with Lance Cpl. Wilson's parents, but this first half just blows me away. What in the world in your life could be so important that you can't give up your seat to a family who is trying to get home to their son's funeral? This showcases what is wrong with people these days. It's too bad there aren't more folks out there like the author.

So, I see all these posts about drops at Columbus/XL/Vance and what not, but never see anything about the drops at Corpus...anyone out there in good ole Texas training for the C130, let me know how those drops usually go and the likelyhood of getting the type C130 you want out of there! Thanks a bunch

I searched but couldn't find any good info. Question for the masses... I've been in for 4 years, met my service obligation, and am planning to get out. I was going to separate under the "Completed ADSC" option but just recieved an assignment RIP and now have the option of separating under the 7-Day Option (AKA "Decline PCS or Assignment"). MPF says there is no difference when choosing which provision to separate under. However, I'm not so eaily convinced. Does anyone have any gouge on which option to chose? Does it matter for your DD214? I'm suffering at the 'Deid so any help would be much appreciated!

Anyone have any experience working with the Collings Foundation? Specifically in coordinating with them for appearances at military airshows or functions. The 450th BG is having their last reunion, and I was thinking about how great it would be for these guys to have one of their planes here for the reunion. Our WG/CC mentioned pulling out all the stops to host the 450th Reunion, but I imagine it'd be difficult, not to mention of questionable legality, to pay Collings the $4000/hr to operate their B-24. I'm sure it is a pipe dream, but I'd love to hear any suggestions that could lead to a B-24 sitting on the ramp in October.

Hello, I'm a 62 year old pilot wannabe, who does all his flying (and controlling) virtually on VATSIM. One of my favorite aircraft is the C-130H. In an attempt to fly it more realistically, I have been trying to figure out the proper loading of fuel. I downloaded Fuel Calculator v2.0 from your site, but there are required entries based on parameters I can't figure out. Any chance someone would be willing to do a little tutoring? Certainly not looking for anything classified, just trying to do things real world style, and Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't come close in this area. Thanks.

assignment night is quickly approaching, end of March. I am seriously interested in the U-28, but I can find very little info about the lifestyle to expect. Is it going to be your basic climb, level off, drive for a few hours, land type deal or will the flights be more interesting? What are the living conditions like while deployed? If anyone is currently flying the airframe and wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me, or if anyone has any other info regarding U-28 (besides the other stuff already posted on baseops) I would appreciate it!

I tried to find this on here already so get pissed if I ask this question twice. Someone told me that there was a way to get up to $5,000 for a one time certification. Basically, it is covered by the air force and includes things like getting a PPL, if you have a PPL then getting a commercial cert, getting a CDL, becoming a CPR instructor, whatever. The idea is for you to improve yourself and the AF covers it. It is not TA or the MGIB. Is this too good to be true or has someone done this? Thanks, Barney
