Im sure that this is a common topic but I need some advice. First off I should have my degree and pilots license by the end of summer. I have been an aircraft mechanic for 7 years active duty and about 2 years as a full time reservist (ART) with the KC-10's at McGuire AFB New Jersey. I work along side the reserve pilots but I really don't know any closely. My question is how do I go about letting them know that I am interested in a pilot slot in the reserves. Who should I talk to? Should I just go talk to them one day, or is it supposed to be a more formal meeting? Im trying to get this rolling but I still feel a little clueless about how the whole process works. Than…

Okay, so the F-22 is going to replace the F-15 and the F-35 the F-16. When will it be conceivable that these airframes will make it to the guard fighter units? Is this even a possibility that this might happen? I have not heard anything for a while and was just curious as I am trying to get a -16 or -15 slot with a guard unit. Thanks for any insight.

Anyone found a solution to the Garmin 35 interface with the GPS35. The software causes the mouse to go nuts and the moving map is unusable. The CF-29 is a great computer, but the CF-27 is looking better all the time. H2Nav

Did a search, but no luck. Is it possible to change your home of record? I remember someone told me you could do it once in your career, but at the point I wasn't interested. Anyone know of someone who did it, and what kind of asspain process they went through to get it changed?

Does anyone know what is supposed to be coming in the weeks to come? I heard they are going to narrow it down to it you are X year group and X AFSC then you have X% chance of being separated. I know the matrix is just to give you an idea as to where you stand, but how do I read into this? I am 2001 year group and my core AFSC is 12M for there is a -8 shortage for that year group AFSC. However, the total for that AFSC is a 233 surplus, and the 2001 yeargroup has a 918 surplus. There is no surplus for my core AFSC until the 1992 year group who are supposedly safe with 15 years of military service. So will that cause them to take people from an already short career…

Ninety-years ago today Billy Mitchell dropped a bomb that at least indirectly started the Air Force. “It is a very serious question whether airpower is auxiliary to the Army and the Navy, or whether armies and navies are not actually auxiliary to airpower.” General William 'Billy' Mitchell Surface area view of the captured German battleship Ostfriesland after it was attacked by Martin MB-2 bombers of the U.S. Army Air Service’s First Provisional Air Brigade, led by Brig. Gen. William “Billy” Mitchell, on July 21, 1921.

So there’s this whiny FGO in my squadron that seems like he doesn’t want to fly with me. I’m the DO, and I have a ‘go-fly’ list of people I want to fly with. I specifically ask Skeds to put us together, but every time we end up on the schedule together he takes “emergency” leave or says he can’t clear his ears. I’m pretty much the best pilot in the squadron, if not the wing, so I know I can show him a thing or two. When I talk to my life-size doll of Robin Olds, (that I keep in my office) his mustache speaks to me and says I should just smash his soul out of his body. Oh whatever should I do? These damn millennials…

I had an interview with an air national guard unit recently and I got selected for pilot. I had applied to AD Air Force prior to the interview but as you know the boards were cancelled. I will meet the AD Board this January. What happens if I get a slot. Can you transfer over? Or after you swear in is that it?

Check out the last paragraph. Apparently the T-38 is being replaced by the T-6 now... by Tech. Sgt. Cecilio M. Ricardo Jr. Air Force Print News 7/23/2006 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- United States and European pilots may have language barriers but at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training wing, they all speak the same language -- avionics. In the 55-week ENJJPT program, approximately 250 American and European students earn their wings yearly. Of those graduating, about 65 percent are American pilots and the remainder are European. The integrated training of U.S. and European forces prepares NATO pilots for real-world operations. "We train lik…

We have been ramping up our DTOC CT program and wondering if there are other units outside of F35 and MQ9 that are linking up and doing virtual exercises. It’s a good way to dry run dissimilar CT before we go out and burn the JP8 for real. Looking to add more friends to the party. HMU por favor.

https://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/pho...F-0986R-288.jpg On the tail of this F-22 there are the numbers 03(small) and 046 (large). Does this mean the plane was built in calender 2003 or paid for in FY2003? Also, does the 046 indicate its serial/production number from the assembly line? Thanks!

Greets all, Standard disclaimer--long time listener, first time caller... For anyone who is familiar with the rescue of Marcus Luttrell in July 2005 as part of Operation Redwings, there is a foundation that he is helping to launch next weekend that will provide a rehabilitation, rest, recovery, and reintegration facility in Texas for wounded and returning warriors-- Lone Survivor Foundation and the Lone Survivor Ranch. My involvement with that mission 5 years ago started by flying Hogs as one of two Sandy Ones that we had deployed with the 74th EFS. There's stories aplenty in that vein, but that's not the point of this post. In looking for more info about the miss…
