Haven't bought much aviation art in the past, but I am trying to find a copy of Pardo's Push. I've searched around on the net, but I can't seem to find any. Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated, Hoser

[Attempting to give a "second chance" to what's, IMHO, a great topic of conversation that's quite interesting. Would just wish people can keep things civil and make good, valid points. Mods, if you don't like this, that's cool, but I ask that it be given another chance to work; and if it doesn't, then oh well....we ruined it ourselves] I'd like to address the issue of how we're prosecuting our current war from two personal viewpoints: 1. As a member of the US military, and 2. As a US taxpayer; since reading the last closed thread, IMO, some people were getting this distinction blurred. As a member of the military, there may be ROE I don't personally agree with, …

WASHINGTON - President Bush will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. EST. The White House said Bush would open with a 10-minute statement discussing his decision to expand the overall size of the U.S. military to meet the challenges of a long, global struggle against terrorism. Bush also planned to stress the importance of working in a bipartisan way next year when Democrats take control of Congress heading into the final two years of his administration. The White House also said Bush would talk about the need to keep the U.S. economy strong. Bush said Tuesday for the first time that American forces were not winning in Iraq. He also said the military would be exp…

Can anyone shed some light on how much the flying experience of a nav differs from that of a pilot? Will a nav ever experience visual stimulations similar to that of a pilot? Excluding future opportunities outside of the Air Force, if a civilian pilot applying to OTS really wants to fly, will they be disappointed as a nav?

Or is it just WRI that can't seem to figure out how to properly get our computers to mesh with another USAF network??? We haven't been able to get into AMCART reliably since November, and the civilian fuels dude (who AMCART was supposed to replace... yet he's still in the same job) insists we're the stupid ones, and AMCART works just fine.

without getting into any specifics, for someone here who knows what I'm referring to, please PM with a link or point me in the right direction on where to find this document. Apparently my unit has been using the AFSOC codes for a while and I'm trying to figure out if ACC does the same thing, but I don't have the parent document, just the pages from it about the AFSOC codes. These are used to come up with the Mission Numbers that go on Flight Authorizations... thanks for any help.

Hey guys, I've been reading here a while and I'm looking for a little help... I'm currently waiting to start pilot training at Vance and before I got down here my aunt gave me some of my grandfathers old Army Air Corps things. Neither she nor my dad really know much about what he did but from what they do remember I know that he was flying transport over the Burma hump. My aunt thinks that he did some of his pilot training here but some of the pictures that she gave me also show him in Muskogee. I also have his ribbon rack and he has the Distinguished Flying Cross with a bronze oak leaf cluster. Basically, I'm wondering if there is anyway to find out exactly …

On average, when do pilots stop flying and end up behind a desk? Can you avoid this outcome by getting a C-37 or similar job?

I'm confident that in approximately 15 minutes this article will be in the inboxes of every resident of the free world and maybe even few people in France. Chris Thomas, Air Force Pilot: I would like to add my two cents about my John Kerry experience. During my career as an Air Force pilot, I spent two years flying a small twin engine prop plane around the Pacific from my base in Okinawa, Japan. On one trip we had to fly Senator Kerry, his congressional aide, and a Navy Captain (Vietnam, A-4 fighter pilot)who was also in Kerry's party to various locations in Vietnam and Cambodia as part of the MIA/POW talks. When I met him, he was wearing a sh…

I'm new to the board. I plan on sticking around a lurking for a while and maybe posting a few things. From what I've seen so far this site has tons of useful info. To start things off I thought I'd try to get some of your advice on a few things. First of all, I'm 23 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M (3.5 GPA) and currently employed by Boeing in Long Beach, CA. I've always loved planes and I thought when I was hired to work on the C-17 it was my dream job and I was set for at least a couple of years. Well, after a year I think the pilot bug bit hard enough for me to respond. It's always been in the back of my mind but the combination of time…

Deployed tactics guy. We're going to start using PPR's for certain airfields in theatre. The following question arose: do PPR's have an effective time? (i.e. +/- 1hr ETA). Looked through GP and other FLIP but can't find guidance. Back home, if ETA ever changed, we'd just give OPS at arrival station a heads up over the phone but keep the same PPR. This always worked so I never questioned it. Anyway, now it's an issue.

I have a question that I realize could be contentious in nature, but I wonder if anyone who can chime in and point me in the right direction. Let me start with a little background- I am but a lowly ROTC cadet trying to come up with a thesis which needs to integrate the Aerospace Studies (basically anything military) and Leadership Management disciplines. I am leaning toward addressing tensions and or misunderstandings which occur between reservists and active duty folks. Since I have no real practical experience in the AF and I know I will sound like a weiner if I don't research this correctly. I hoped to get some input from those who know-or at least can help me fin…

First, this is easily one of the best and most informative websites on pilot training and how to get there. Secondly, as my first posting, my question deals with the opportunities for ANG pilots to become instructor pilot's within the various SUPT bases. I'm aware of the reserves having that ability, but how about the guard?

Are there squadrons where you'll typically find the higher-speed dudes? I remember reading somewhere about the 19FS (F-15C) up at Elmendorf being the Air Force's top albino squadron...what's up with that? More of an urban legend-type thing? Edit: The 19FS article had nothing to do with their recent William Tell "victory", it was written a few years ago. [ 16. March 2005, 20:47: Message edited by: Dirt Beater ]
