Does anyone know if you have to be a strike/fighter EWO to do a prowler tour? Can you get it if you are an EWO on say an EC-130 or anything else that comes out of randolph?

This has been troubling me for some time now looking back on this board for almost two years now. What happens if you do not like beer and want to fly for the AF? I know, sounds like blasphemy but is this something I'll just have to suck up? I'm trying to picture ordering a Bacardi when everyone is drinking draft.

After doing some searches, looks like AD fighter pilots rack around 300 hours a year (typically)? Any comments from the experts? From what I understand, a guard bum could rack around 100 hours during a year of typical guard weekend duty? I basically want to fly as much as I can, and was led to believe a guard fighter bum could bum his way up to around 500 hrs a year if he hung around the squadron all day?...or is that just being active duty guard? Just trying to decide if I should keep interviewing with guard units or go AD AF. I originally was going active before having trouble with a bunch of stupid recruiters. I posted earlier today and I'll say it again, I appre…

I don't have any and apparently I need them here. Where can I get them with the least amount of hassle? Can you just order them online someplace? Or is there some hidden shop on most bases that will make/issue them to you?

I'm going to try something today...I'm going to work with my sleeves rolled up Navy-style and my leg zippers half-unzipped. Being in AETC, I give it 2 hours before some shoe clerk weenie says something to me about it. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm such a rebel.

Anything going on at Sheppard tonight? How's the O'Club these days? Can I expect to see any crud being played? I'm x-country this weekend, planning to RON at SPS tonight, COS on Saturday, and IKR on Sunday.

Anyone on here been to Northwest Arkansas Regional? I'm thinking it would be a Vance-type person or perhaps from Little Rock. The reason I ask....I'm trying to go there on an out-n-back (my bro goes to school there) but as far as I can tell they don't have a UHF freq for their tower. Yes, some of us still fly a/c that only have a single, UHF radio. Can anyone confirm/deny this? The reason I think it might be a Vance person is b/c they have a volume-training letter of agreement with Vance....so maybe its just for T-1s?

Looks like the Navy is going to get some attention like the Air Force did a few years ago. These things are never good for anyone involved. https://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2339317

Dropping the Boystown reset yesterday reminded me that we used to have a SID out of Laughlin called the Boystown Three. I always wondered how they got away with it for so long. I am checking the NIMA site right now, but I don't see the SID anymore (and the site is painfully slow). I did however find the ILS RWY 36 at Hurlburt Fld which still has Sammy has the IAF. For those not familiar, Sammy’s is the local strip club three miles east of the base (So being sent to Sammy and hold is not necessarily a bad deal). Anyone have any other examples? [ 22. From af.mil: EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFPN) -- A distinguished career came to a close here Feb. 10. After flying senior military leaders and undergoing rigorous testing for more than 31 years, the Speckled Trout tail number 61-2669 officially retired. "Speckled Trout was the primary transport aircraft for every Air Force chief of staff since General David C. Jones (July 1974 to June 1978)," said Gen. Bruce Carlson, Air Force Materiel Command commander. "Not only has it transported distinguished people ... there are countless examples of technological advantages that our warfighters have reaped as benefits from the work that has been done on this great airpl…

I hope he knows how much I admire his perseverance to live his dream I hope he knows how awesome I think he is to be living what he believes I hope he knows I worry about the dangers wondering if he will lose his life at the hands of strangers But I also hope he knows I have faith in his ability To fly and fight and beat the enemy I hope he knows how proud I am That he is brave enough to take a stand I hope he knows his children are proud To know their Daddy flies in the clouds I hope he knows they understand when he misses the big game because he's in another land I hope he knows I love him so And I count the days until he is home I hope he…

All, As many of you know, the C-21 is getting phased down - and eventually out. Congress approved a reduction by 50% a few weeks back. Here is the "unoffical" listing from a buddy of mine who works Chief of OSA/VIPSAM Planning at AMC. Andrews 13 to 6 WP 13 to 5 C.S. 10 to 3 Scott 14 to 9 (to include school house aircraft) Keesler 5 to 0 School house will move to Scott and be assumed by AMC. AAFSA will move to OKC. Ramstein 14 to 8 or 9 Yokota 4 to 3 The rest of the aircraft will probably go to the Navy as trainers, TC-21s and fly out of Randolph and Pensacola. All of this will happen by the close out…

Ok.. I know that I should know this one, but my memory has slipped me and I can't track down the answer anywhere. How is the elevation derived for the min altitudes in each sector on the TPC chart? I know that an actual chart has this posted in the legend, but seeing as how we rely totaly on CFPS I have no actual charts. Any help would be great!

Hey everyone, I need some help. I'm starting my PPL and I want to use my Dave Clark headset, but I need a Gen. Av. microphone (8 ohm I think) first. I also need a two-wire adapter, but those are pretty easy to find. The only place I've found so far had the mic's for like $140 plus shipping, but I figure there's got to be someplace cheaper. I checked on e-bay, but couldn't find any, and did google searches, but couldn't really find what I wanted. Anybody have any extra lying around or know where I can get one? Thanx!!

I was reading about the NH-90 and came across this TTH-90 info on globalsecurity 6th paragraph down: "Other features include weather radar, digital map, Obstacle Warning System, cable cutters , armoured pilot seats, defensive weapons suite, passive and active measures against the threat..." So Im thinking 'cable' as in a rescue cable lifting a person into the aircraft, and the necessary 'cutter' if something goes wrong or the helo becomes stuck on something below and needs cut away the cable. I look in a magazine with a picture of an MRH-90 and hook like blade labeled "cable cutters" above the windscreen and below the rotors, Im thinking WTF these are anti-…

If there are any fighter/attack ACC types out there, I would like to know how often you are pulling Gs and what is the norm during training vs combat. I guess to give you an example of what I'm asking; Would you say you are pulling Gs 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour per flight? Are you pulling 2-4, 4-6, 6-8 Gs on any given flight? I'm sure it is based on your training profile, which varies from day to day. If able, please give me various scenarios based on the different mission sets you train for. The reason I ask is because I am interested in the T-38 track, but I herniated two disks in my lower back 4 years ago. I currently have a FC1 with a waiver due to that injury.…
