I use the standard media tags--(media)(/media) but with brackets instead of parentheses--but the post still only shows the URL and doesn't embed the video into the post. What gives?!?

As one of the moderators on here, we all do our best to remove any spam as soon as we can can. But I have to admit I had a spam-related chuckle this afternoon worth sharing... Some dope spammer posted a thread along the lines of "should I exercise or use diet pills" complete with links to the pills they were pushing. The post even had a person's name at the bottom, and included the "sorry if this is in the wrong forum" comment to try and make it look genuine. But as that poster just signed up here, had a grand total of 1 post, and there was no mention of the USAF or even the military, it was obviously spam. Any attempt to add a signature throws: [#10211] You may only use up to lines of text in your signature. I poked around (sts) the IPS peer to peer support forum, but didn't find this exact error. There was a similar error talked about there for images in the signature block that went back to a simple =0 or =1 or =-1 in a config file for like allowimages or something.... I've seen other people with signature blocks.... so I imagine it can't be a board wide issue unless they had their signatures in before an update and the update isn't allowing any changes. Anybody want to try changing their signature in the name of science?

UPDATE: YouTube embedding has been simplified, see DFRESH's post below for details. Is this you when you when you try to embed YouTube videos in your posts? If so, see below. 1) In order for the video to actually show up instead of just a link, you must use a properly formatted address inside the "media" tags. For some reasons the spammers are getting through again. I've deleted two Viagro threads in the past two days. I've been suspending their accounts for 1000 days, as I am not sure how or if I can delete them. If I can, could someone please instruct me how; otherwise 'scieshyInseno' needs to be deleted. Cheers! Looks like the site was upgraded this evening. Didn't see the +/- for reputation on posts. Am I correct here or just stupidity on my part?

I haven't been able to see anything or log in on mobile since last week. I tried to update the app but it seems to be gone from the Google play store. It has stopped working for me for a couple days before but never this long. There's a solid chance I'm missing something but I'd like to see it working again.

Did anyone have any log in issues w/ this new server? I had to re-registar for this sign in, b/c I can't seem to access my other username even though it does still exsist. I got the email, vailidated and got the temporary password which the server doesn't reconize. Any ideas?

It used to be that when I read a post and would see that someone had "Liked" it, I could click on the Like emblem and the person's that gave the rating would show up. Now, it does not do that (hasn't for sometime, actually). Glitch? Or planned change?

For those of you with privacy concerns. Google Adsense, Google Analytics and Viglink ad bots are tracking this website. There is also a google supercookie tracking you as well. I use ghostery , AdBlock and Disconnect on my safari. I think FireFox has the same extensions. Love this forum, just wanted you to know. Just found DoubleClick and Google +1 as well. For you superfreaks, DoubleClick tracks you on F-Book. If any of you have 4 star general concerns......

I recently had a post edited, I think from a mod. I imagine it was for general internet smartassery but the original post does not say "This post has been edited by ______: Today, 11:55 AM" or whatever the edit tag at the bottom of a message displays. I went into the orignal post and edited it myself, and the post does not display edited by slacker. Is my crap broken?

Alright, against my will I apparently have been upgraded to IE 7.0. One of the 'perks' to this upgraded service is that it has a built in pop-up blocker which I cannot figure out how to disable. Anytime I try to click on something within this site that has a pop-up (post numbers, hyperlinks in the reply page), it pops up the "IE has disabled the pop-up blocker...bla bla...click here for options." From there I can select, "temporarily allow pop-ups" but I have to do it at every new page. Anybody know if there's a way to permanently disable this for specific sites?

Never happened before but this Hilton popup at the bottom of the screen goes right over the bottom of the reply/message container. Unable to click to enter reply. Tried it on Chrome, Edge and IE. Hilton - you are killing me!

Whenever I try to quote someone, the page quotes that person and also pulls a random quote from the user pcola from somewhere else in the forums and adds it to the quote.

It's not an important issue but thought I'd mention it. Every time I try to vote a post up (the little green circle with a + in it), I get the error: Action failed: You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day. Is my quota 0 or is it broken?

First let me say, thanks for all you guys do to keep this a great site. Now for the bitching- Can we lock the polls on threads after 30 days or some appropriate time so they don't get bumped to the top everytime someone votes?

I've noticed after downloading the new iOS that when I click on a link in a thread, the new page that opens up doesn't have a back button or any other navigation options that let you get back to the thread you were reading. I have to go all the way out and open BODN back up. I'm sure somebody else out there much smarter than me has figured out how to get back.

Recently upgraded to IE9. One behavior this site has that I have not seen on other sites: when I click on an external link, I get the new tab w/ the linked page--but I also get the current (baseops) page switching over to the new link (i.e., I end up with *two* of the link I just clicked on as well as being inadvertently navigated away from baseops). It's in the "minor annoyance" category, since a simple work-around is to hold down the CTRL key when clicking (gets you the link on a new page w/o advancing the current one--i.e., the desired behavior), and using the back-arrow for when I forget to do that. In the SARC thread. I can see that there are a bunch of new posts (says 22 new). When I click on the thread, I can't read any posts after nsplayer's 9 hours ago.

How do you select your gender in your profile? Not that I really care, but it irks me everytime I look at my baseops.net profile and it says "Gender not set". :huh: I'll just add a big ol' "STS" here to cover everything before the jokes start to roll in...
