Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

How common is it for squadrons to have Friday patches? Is this a thing of the past, or is the "tradition" carried on still today? Our sq currently does not have anything of the sort, but I'd like to get something started. I know it's not supposed to be "official", so how does one go about "unofficially" getting the ball rolling on such a visible issue? Anyone ever faced the same issues? Does your sq have a friday patch? If so, is it recognized by leadership? Do you wear it out of the sq, off base, etc.? Many thanks!

Not good for the Navy... Bet they were caught at the Deid with out a reflective belt... From the Navy times: NORFOLK, Va. — Two members of the Blue Angels, the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, have been “removed” from the team due to an alleged inappropriate relationship, a Navy official said Thursday. The two members of the squadron — one of them an aviator — were pulled from the unit by commanding officer and flight leader Capt. Kevin Mannix on Sunday, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity since he was discussing a personnel matter. The names of the people involved were not released. “The team members are alleged to have had an in…

After not working out or running for nearly 4 years, last week I started running again. I run 1.5 miles one day out of the week each week and I just finished my second week. I for one am proud of myself for doing this and I don't care if you guys call me out of shape because I feel accomplished! My last week time was 15:42:309. While this weeks time was 14:12:613. I've yet to run the whole 1.5 miles. I end up walking some portion of the run. But I'm just going to keep on keeping on. Place constructive comments here \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

Back in the Socom 2 days I'd spend endless hours playing online. Anyone else play this game here? I lost interest after SOCOM 3, wasn't into the whole desert thing. Socom 4 looks pretty sweet. I hear it comes out in October, it used to be Aug but I think they are trying to release it closer to Christmas. https://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/SO...s_Confrontation ( take the few seconds to sign up and download it in HD)

https://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...servist06m.html "This is a contract. I don't like the way his property looks. This clown gets to do what he wants, and I'm as mad as hell ..." Can someone please find this douchenozzle's email or mailing address! I think Chick Edwards needs to understand the errors of his ways ... and the internet geniuses around here need a project.

Any baseball fans out there? The division series games so far have been surprising to say the least. The Cubs, Brewers, and White Sox are all choking harder than Mama Cass on a ham sandwich. It's been fun to see all the bandwagon Cubs fans on their sinking ship. Anyways here are my picks: (I know, I know. It's a little late to start a predictions thread after the 2 games, but better late than never.) Divisional Series: Rays over White Sox Angels over BoSox Dodgers over Cubs Phillies over Brewers League Championship Series Angels over Rays Dodgers over Phillies World Series: Angels over Dodgers in 6 games

Hey Folks, I do some human factors and safety systems consulting on the side. A portion of my presentations consist of power point and I'm alway looking to enhance those. There are two areas of customers I've always talked to about how the military does Lims and EP's, those being General Aviation folks (I do these for free at FIRC's and for any GA group that requests my help.) and my single-pilot CRM course. (The primary audience here is light jet owners who are new to turbine operations.) At any rate, describing how standup works is nowhere near as effective as actually seeing it. So, here's what I was wondering: If any of you folks might happen to have some rec…

What does your squadron use for a beer light? I'm going to build my squadron a new one (really just "one" since our "beer light" is basically an announcement in the building that the non-existent beer light is on) - got some plans in mind - but just curious what you have in your squadron bar/ops desk area.

From CNN.com Blink-182's Barker critically injured in plane crash (CNN) -- A man who came across a fiery jet crash saw former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein trying to extinguish the flames on their bodies by ripping off their clothing. "We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do," William Owens told CNN affiliate WIS in Columbia, South Carolina. "I felt ill or sick to think that these lives were snuffed out at that point." The two men were in critical condition with extensive burns Saturday. The crash killed four other people on board, authori…

I just got back from Christmas vacation visiting family in Texas. My wife and I loaded up the car with the kids to make the 20 hour drive. I couldn't get over how much people in CA suck at driving on highways! Do people not know that the left lane is for passing, not cruising. The speed limit on I-5 is 70, and I was only averaging 60 because of all the morons in the left lane. That has to be one of my biggest pet peaves on the road. I also recently flew commercially and couldn't get over just how rude the f-ing TSA security folks are. This one chick with tight ass pants, creating a muffintop-like effect with her love handles, told me "Take off your jacket!" No…

Bigfoot Trackers Say They've Got a Body Wednesday, August 13, 2008 Bigfoot may have been found. Maybe. We'll see. Two Northern California men and two Georgians say they've got a body, a photo and DNA evidence pertaining to the elusive forest-dwelling man-ape — and that they'll reveal all at a press conference in Palo Alto, Calif., on Friday. "I think you'll find that this is the real deal," Robert Barrows of Redwood City, Calif., told the Bay City News local wire service. Matthew Whitton, a cop in Clayton County, Ga., and his friend Rick Dyer, a former corrections officer, say they recently found the body in the woods of northern Georgia. Veteran Bigfoot t…

I am fairly sure there are a couple of 135 and airline guys on here but given the amount of pilots I am hoping if nothing else maybe someone knows someone or has some insite. I have received an offer to get some rightseat fixed-wing time with Lifeflight doing organ flights and medical transport. Does anyone have any insite on how good of a gig this is? They state that it is mostly on-call so I know what that is going to do for QOL but seems like some good flying when they have it. Thoughts/ Recommendations? Secondly I have applied for EG&G and while I meet all their requirements I haven't heard anything from them for about a month, is this normal? When…

Whoever said that Fairfield wasn't straight up gangsta?? The funny thing is that we drive through some of those streets on our way back to the base from Chipotle. If you're ever in the area on a RON, remember that Fairfield south of Air Base Parkway is not where you should be after the sun goes down! Ref:

THE UNTOLD TRUE STORY OF MAD DOG SHRIVER: Mad Dog led dozens of covert missions into Laos & Cambodia until his luck ran out. By Maj. John L. Plaster, USAR (Ret.) <https://www.ultimatesniper.com/images/macVsog-patch.GIF> There undoubtedly was not a single recon man in SOG more accomplished or renowned than Mad Dog Shriver. Mad Dog! In the late 1960s, no Special Forces trooper at Ft. Bragg even breathed those top secret letters, "S-O-G," but everyone had heard of the legendary Studies and Observations Group Green Beret recon team leader, Sergeant First Class Jerry Shriver, dubbed a "mad dog" by Radio Hanoi. It was Jerry Shriver who'd spoken the most famous …
