For pilot selects, how long is the normal wait time after your FC1 is approved to get an OTS class date (I'm assuming the FC1 has to be approved before you get a class date)? When they do give you an OTS class date, how far out is it? Finally, is your UPT class date determined before, after, or during OTS? Thanks! -Gil

There are often new threads that don't need to be started since their information has been covered in the past and needs only to be revived and possibly updated. Here's the ROE on searching and starting new threads. 1. UTFSF: If there is a remote chance that your topic has been discussed, use the search function to find it and re-open that thread. 2. Get something close: It doesn't matter if your specific question was not answered - find a thread that is close and ask your question there. The intent is to consolidate discussion as much as possible so there are a minimal amount of threads discussing the same topic. 3. Disclaimers are unneccesary: You don't need to st…

Pretty sure field training for this summer, 2014, has been cut short from 28 days to 22-23? What are your opinions? Is this too short? Good? Bad? I appreciate if you compare your own military training to this summers training.

Hello, so first and foremost I apologize if this post is in the wrong thread. I’ve been looking around and haven’t found anything to specifically answer my questions. I’ve been browsing the Air Force subreddit, posted a lot on there in regards on advice and guidance in general. A pilot (civilian who’s trying to join the ang) told me about this website so I thought I’d give it a shot. Alright so some background info, as the title suggests I’m currently active duty. 20 years old, based in macdill with the stratotanker. Maintainer, I joined with zero college, almost done with my cdcs so I can start working on my associates. This is where it starts to get a little…

When developing your package in ROTC for the Active Duty board, are there any factors that are put into your package that are outside of ROTC? Things like being a president of a student organization or any other type of leadership position. Was just curious.

I am applying for a ASCP and SOAR scholarship and I am stuck on a certain section of the AF IMT 56. I am at the section where it asks to list how many at what speeding tickets or traffic violations I have had in the past. I know ive hade tickets before, but its been almost 5 years now and I cant remember where and when they occurred. Can someone tell me how and where they got the information to fill out this section of the AF IMT 56? Thanks!

Hello, I'm currently 17 years old so please bear with me if what I'm saying sounds rediculous. I'm a senior in high school and applied to 2 colleges. The first one I applied to was the one I really really really wanted to go to and got accepted and wanted to go to their AFROTC program. I got in and the Air Force gave me a FULL TUITION type 1 scholorship so I have until May to accept it. I was thrilled... Then today I recieved an acceptance letter from SUNY Maritime College. They have NROTC available there unlike the other college I was accepted to. Now I know I want that regimented type of lifestyle and that experience. I DO want to try to become a pilot since …

I want to be a pilot (ideally fighters) in the Air Force or Navy. I’m currently entering my freshman year of college at a school that has AFROTC. Keep in mind, I was accepted to this school for spring semester this year, so if I do AFROTC I’ll start a semester behind most of my classmates (not sure if that changes anything). If I want to fly, should I join AFROTC when I get to school in January, or should I wait until after college and try to get a pilot slot through OTS/OCS? I wasn’t sure where my chances would be higher. I have a non-technical major, but I think I will do well in it. Thank you!

Does anyone know how the supplemental board works and has anyone on here been picked up from it? I competed in the Feb board and wasn't selected and I'm hoping to get either pilot or rpa.

Is it possible to get a scholarship while you are in AFROTC? I really don't think I have that great of a chance of getting a scholarship going into college, but I know I'll be working hard during college. So I was Just curious if this the Air Force did this for cadets?

I would like to be a pilot in the military. I will be starting at a university in a few months and I am trying to weigh my options. I am quite interested in AFROTC, but, I don't like the uncertainty of getting a pilot slot. A few weeks ago I found out about the Guaranteed pilot slot through USMC PLC. Which of these paths would you guys advise? Additionally, I am not too concerned about the airframe. I'd love to get a fighter, however, i'd be happy flying any manned aircraft of each of the branches. Thanks

I understand how the OM works for categorization, but does the commander directly recommend an AFSC (other than through UCR)? For rated and nonrated? I know that cadets compete for pilot slots nationally. Is this true for non-rated AFSCs as well? Or are commanders encouraged to fill hard to fill jobs? For instance, two cadets with equal GPA, one a history major and the other an electrical engineer. Would the commander have any reason to recommend (or give a lower UCR to) the engineer for an engineering job rather than a pilot slot because EE is a critical shortage?

I'm in in college and thinking of joining the California Air National Guard to help pay for college since I'm too old to get AF-ROTC scholarships (I'm 32). My plan is to do AF-ROTC and Air Guard at the same time. I was told some AF-ROTC dtachments take the Air Guard's 422/IMR in place of DoDMerb medical exam and I want to get the opinion of those who's detachments allowed them to do this. Was it difficult to get your detachment to take 422/IMR? Another side of this is that I have read countless stories of awesome cadets being DQ'd over absolutely nothing and I figure 422/IMR would help me avoid being DQ'd.

I am a freshman at Riddle trying to decide how to get involved (there are so many clubs and stuff here). While I want to join clubs that are fun, and orginizations that are beneficial, I am also choosing how to spend my time based on what will rank me the highest among other cadets so I can secure a pilot candidate slot. I am particularly interested in joining Arnold Air Society. Is being a member of the AAS a good way to rank higher? I don't mean rank as in C/4C, I mean rank as in how I compare to other AS 100s. What would you say the formula for a competitive pilot slot candidate is, as far as clubs involved in? I don't think I will have a problem with the oth…

Anyone out there (AD/Reserve/ANG) know of bases that have a CATM facility? Not sure if they are called that all over the AF but the shooting range I went to at Field Training at Tyndall was called CATM. The reason I ask is that I would like to see if a Security Forces squadron would be willing to host an M9 familiarization for cadets from our detachment. Are these facilities only located at AETC bases? If so I am SOL, FE Warren, Peterson, and Buckley (all AF Space Command) are the only bases around here. [ 29. Alright...just to lighten the mood around the approaching valentines day... just to ease the tension till Categorization results are out ;) What do you think about dating between GMC and POC? I realize that AFROTCI "highly discourages" it, but we are in college after all, and as previously mentioned...we're not officers yet. If you keep it professional within the detachment, is it alright? Or is it out of the question always? Opinions anyone? AFROTCI K-3-III

Greetings, I am currently enrolled in City College taking roughly 15 units, and I want to know if its possible to transfer to ROTC after 2 years? My primary goal is the AFA, but I want ROTC as a back-up and I'm not sure how you can transfer to a 4-year University with an AA degree and still get into ROTC for 4 years. I understand that I can't simply "join" ROTC as a Junior and automatically be on scholarship, attend FT, etc, so I want to know if its even possible. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I heard that it's good to have some jodies to sing at FTU. Anybody have any? Here's one I like: My girl's a vegtable, She lives in a hospital. Refrain: I'd do most anything, To keep that girl alive, yeah! She's got her own T.V., They call it an EKG! Refrain She's got no arms or legs, All she's got are wooden pegs! Refrain One day I'll play a joke, Pull the plug and watch her choke! Refrain Post what you have, this should be fun!!
