That said, I’m not going to be upset about this or take it as a slight against military members, their sacrifice, etc. This tragedy is an extraordinary moment in our history, so it’s not a crazy notion to do things that treat/emphasize it as such.

For the sake of non political bullshit, the correct rephrasing could be this: How many times has a civilian’s remains, a.k.a. someone with no official government position or former military service, been transported on military or state aircraft inside CONUS. Curious to know the scope of the "gender identity content" that was being taught. Are we talking about 1-2 slides out of a whole semester? Or did this prof hijack the entire content of this "Children's Literature" course to push a bunch of gender identity nonsense? Both possibilities are obviously troubling, but it seems like it's going to matter, given the fact that the prof in question is screaming "But my academic freedom," while Welsh is citing "Academic responsibility." Searching around, I couldn't find anything specific.

So how many retired guys here have their 'Rank' (Ret.) as their titles at their new job? Absolutely zero chance you would ever catch me referring to my retired military rank. He's the president of a huge university, isn't that enough? I had to go to his speech one time on active duty and walked away thinking "How does everyone not see right through this guy? That was nothing but dumb pandering and anyone that was motivated by that is probably dumb enough that we don't need him."

If this ends up being another trans shooter, then I have to disagree. We've tolerated and enabled the delusions of mentally ill people, both trans-identifying and the homeless, for years. Now we are reaping the bitter rewards of this feel-good bullshit. More people will die. You can't tell the most unhinged people in your society that anyone who doesn't participate in their fantasy is trying to "unalive" them. Just like you can't tell them that their democracy is dying, or a literal tyranny is being imposed upon the people. These tragically unstable citizens do not have the ability to detect hyperbole. They are taking the political rhetoric literally, and acting in a purely logical fashion if you accept their initial premise. If anyone on this forum believed that we truly were close to losing our democracy, we all would have a very different relationship with our personal firearms.

The suspect in their killing had a list of pro-abortion figures, so yes, it was definitely political. I do not recall a single prominent conservative making excuses for or celebrating their murders.

1. charlie kirk is nationally known. some state senators not so much. 2. his assassination was captured up close in graphic detail. 3. this is clearly a political assassination. i don't even know who killed the hortmans. did they ever publish a motive or find the killer? i honestly don't know. kirk's death is a visual symbol of a direct attack on the first amendment.
