Well, the left doesn’t seem to want to cut any positions, and rather expand the government, so in the meantime I’ll take just about any cuts. Are some positions more important to cut than others, of course…but let’s not pretend that the big government types (and yes, that includes those in the GOP) want to cut much of anything.

When you cut in this administration, the position is eliminated. How do I know? I was a GS in this administration. I do agree there there are plenty of federal workers positions that are bloated and need to be eliminated, however you cut with a scalpel, not a chainsaw. These idiots are cutting key positions, like the nuclear scientists at NNSA, and then frantically trying to hire them back when they found out they are actually needed. There’s going to be time when those SMEs tell them to fuck off and they don’t come back, taking their decades of knowledge with them.

- I’ll give them one thing before I bash them: current day tech is insanely more complicated than the 1940s. Our manufacturing advances are awesome, but somewhat “nullified” by how complicated our products are. So to even match 1940s manufacturing rates of current day tech is a pipe dream. - Industry is very bureaucratic and moves slower than molasses. They suffer the same bloat as the gov. They would have to fire thousands of middle managers to start to even have a chance at actual efficiency. They would have to substantially overhaul their processes, from R&D to production. They would need to shelve a lot of attorneys - litigation and legalese adds years to the overall process. Basically, imagine how badly the fed gov needs to be gutted and apply the same level to industry. Example: there is a thing that I was working on in 2015 - it’s nearly 2026 and it’s still a thing, but it’s still not in production. 11 years, still nothing operational to show for it. And it’s a very important, needed thing. I’ve got many examples just like this one; this type of situation happens routinely - a “straighten up guys!” from the gov will not fix that malaise. We’re basically at a burn it all to the ground and rebuild state. - The C-suite down to middle management are driven solely by profit; there is no patriotism involved. This mindset is woven deep into everything the company does, including slimy contracting tactics that the fed gov seems too stupid to ever see. They’re not willing to lift a finger on a fix to their fuck up until max, additional profit is extracted. Contracts and processes are purposely dragged out to max profit (e.g. they know problems will arise from X, but they will purposely let it happen so they can achieve the aforementioned). It is criminal negligence at some points in my opinion; they’re basically stealing taxpayer dollars and not doing what they’re paid to do. The “worker bees” are patriots, they just don’t have any say. Could these upper guys be shaken awake and become patriots over profit? Sure, hopefully - but it is this problem that has built the monolithic beast they now have. It will take years to undo, and they’ll be the proverbial “a day late and a dollar short.” - There are smaller, more agile companies (subs) that are decent at what they do, but they cannot overcome the above that the primes have. They don’t have the capital, size, etc. to be the solution. Those are the highlights.

I said cut, not eliminated—way too many government employees who are definitely not needed. As for ATC, I would much rather see it privatized, but until then, they definitely provide a needed service when compared to many of the national park government employees, as one example.

I'm not at all against buying the Argentinian pesos. America is going to have to accept that we are not at war with free market enemies. Would it be better or worse for us to have stable allies in our hemisphere? After 30 years of funding the buildup of China, we are now in the unfortunate position of competing with the monster we created. That monster is going to dump money on every country that it can to weaken our sphere of influence. That doesn't mean we give everyone money and bankrupt ourselves like the Soviet Union did, but it does mean we have to be realistic about what it takes to cultivate and retain allies. Argentina is in the very rare position of having elected a leader on the message of hard choices to fix things. Unsurprisingly, those hard choices are making it hard for him to retain control. No one here should be surprised, Americans have become entitled and lazy as well. But of all the countries in South America to support, and hopefully turn into an example, the one with a historically humongous economy and fiercely pro-american leader is probably the best bet. I wish we could go back in time and divert trillions of dollars in manufacturing build up to the people much closer to us that share a much more similar history and moral philosophy. But we didn't, so now we have to do it the harder way.

There is sure to be lots of coaching movement. I don’t want FSU to be too proactive by going after Franklin because once the chess pieces start moving, who knows what options will be out there. I said it all week, Louisville was our trap game, Beck looked like he was back at UGA. Plus all the stupid penalties...that is team discipline. Watched the game with some friends and I called the fake FG, you could see the way he lined up. The season is not over but the SEC bias kicks in now. I guarantee Alabama who lost to a 3-4 FSU will be ranked higher than Miami who beat FSU and lost to a 5-1 team. I played ball from age 5 through college and the coaches I had along the way were some of the most influential people in my life. I like Norvell, I think he is a good person, but for some reason at FSU he can't hold the locker room. I can't imagine he survives much longer and my fear is FSU acts soon so they can get James Franklin. He got a raw deal at Penn State and if you saw his interview on Game Day...he is fired up and ready for revenge.
