With Trump/surrogates announcing/peddling a 2 week taco, I think he's hoping Israel can mop this up and he can walk out, hands open waist high, claim victory and peace in the same sentence, work a weave or 3, and look like it was his plan all along. His goal, happy MAGA, Iran defeated. I don't think he gets both. He's along for the ride.

Leaving the underground facility Chernobyl irradiated for the next 1000 years would be a bonus IMHO. I'm sure Trump has no intention on waiting 2 weeks before he acts. Yep, the only layer of air defense remaining at this altitude is the Iron Dome (which really wasn't designed to take out incoming ballistic missile warheads). Those tracking/trying to intercept this particular incoming warhead (last ditch effort) might have suddenly had 20 more targets on their radarscope. "The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command says the warhead on the missile in question split open at an altitude of approximately 23,000 feet (seven kilometers) and released an estimated 20 submunitions/scattered across an area approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) in diameter."

Not sure how accurate that depiction is. Cluster munitions on TBMs are usually deployed endgame (inside 20,000'), that would be a very late intercept for many of these systems.

One interesting tidbit from this detailed article: "Layering ballistic missiles with cluster munition payloads in larger salvos with other types carrying unitary warheads might also help create a decoy-like effect to further overwhelm an opponent’s defenses. With this in mind, while the specific circumstances are still unknown, it is worth noting that the interception rate during Iran’s particularly destructive missile barrage on Israel this morning was notably lower than what had been seen in previous" salvos. A variety of other factors beyond the inclusion of cluster munition warheads could have played a role, as well.

Yeah I think I know what happened. I was watching Tousi TV on Youtube (Highly recommend dude has family including his father in Iran), when it came up as breaking news. I think the IDF confirmed the strike and everyone took it as it just happened when it happened early on. There is another report that Israel set up a hotline for the seniors and they thought it was the Iranian command authority telling them about a safe place to go, it was a trick to get them all in one spot. A few other hanging reports: No comms with for 12+ hours, some believe he was targeted...some say he is dead but not confirmed. Another report says Mahmoud Ahmadinejad narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. No word on if it was Mossad or internal Iranians.

That was reporting confirming the initial nights strike. It was worded very strange as he was speaking it. They did strike near the dearest supreme leaders suspected location again apparently.
