What a badass aircraft. I miss when carriers and Air Force bases had a wide variety of aircraft.

I always sigh when I hear Jan 6th. The day was 1000% WRONG but as you very correctly point out it was not an insurrection. I get the dictionary definition but I have always viewed an insurrection as trying to overthrow the government, QAnon Shaman with his headdress and American flag were never a threat to our government, no one tried to seize power. A lot of left wing sites even call it a attempted coup. Does anyone truly think control of the American Government was ever in doubt or danger? That being said, a bunch of morons running around the Capital Building is wrong and makes us look like a banana republic. Also, as bad as that day was only three people died that day and none of them were killed by the protesters. Ashli Babbitt: An Air Force veteran who was shot through a door by a Capitol Police officer while trying to enter the House chamber. Kevin Greeson: Died of a heart attack on the sidewalk west of the Capitol. Rosanne Boyland: Died from an accidental overdose The really ironic thing, and any of you who spend time on the Hill will know...ANYONE can enter the Capital. If you fly to DC tomorrow, you are free to go through security and enter the People's House...wander the halls and go to the office of ANY elected representative. It is important to note the Capital was closed on Jan 6th at the request of Democrats because they saw large numbers of Pro-Trump supporters "walking around". Kind of rich given Crazy Aunt Nancy turned down the offer of extra security in the form of the National Guard. Obviously you can't enter the capital after hours or when it is closed and you MOST certainly can't push past police, enter restricted areas and commit acts of vandalism. I take both sides with a giant grain of salt but clearly with the Biden Administration in control in charge of the Justice Department we never got all the answers about what really happened and I think we the American people DESERVE to know the truth. I still have a lot of questions about the actions of the FBI, several agents and numerous confidential informants. Will Kash Patel get to the truth without bias remains to be seen but there are some KEY facts that are known to be true As matters of fact from the Jan 6th report - there were a total of 26 confidential human sources in the crowd outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but only four of them were assigned by the FBI to be there. One of the four confidential human sources tasked by the FBI to attend the rally entered the Capitol building, while the other two entered the restricted area around the Capitol. Did they play a part in inciting the acts that happened? It was a dark day for our country and I hope it never happens again, one of the best was to prevent another occurrence is to FULLY understand the truth about what happened.

Another masterclass in putting hands over ears and going lalala. About 5 fallacies present in the last three posts - pretty standard.

It’s funny because as much hoopla was made about the tea party rallies, they looked like Labor Day picnics. They had to selectively edit the famous scene of a man in a white button up shirt carrying an AR15 to one, because it was a young 20 something black man and that couldn’t be the narrative. Jan 6th was the first time we gave a clip show of recent right aligned rioters to have the news show and clutch pearls about while they ignore a 6 block radius of a random city on fire after a police involved shooting. I've always thought that January 6th was notable because it was the first time in my life that conservatives rioted. And it absolutely was a riot. It was not an insurrection by any stretch of the imagination, but it is the sole corollary to what the left has been doing (as you pointed out) for years.
-
No. It was not. 2020 (COVID) riots. Race riots. George Floyd. Kenosha shootings. The Jan 6th "coup" (lol). CHOP/CHAZ. All those things were sanctioned by democrats in power. There was no corollary to any of that on the right. There was no equivalent behavior to those examples promulgated by the right wing. What we saw during 2016-2021 was left-wing hysteria driven, encouraged, and applauded by people in power. By people in our government. By people in our corporate media. I'm not denying the Glenn Becks and the Alex Jonses on the "right", but why the right wing was fixated on "issues" hadn't had anything to do with the RW media. It had everything to do with reality.

Well. Go ahead...we can read the AIBs, which are not safety privileged. Which ones?

Requal should be in house per an approved training syllabus, no need to go back to a school house for it. Even if you were able to be dual qualled you’d be unquall’d since you’d loose your currency in the jet after 6 months anyway.
-
@wikz . This is where you tell lead that you'll take the fat one.
-
I can name 3 class As from the past 6 months that directly implicated decreased experience as one of the factors. Different pots of money...

Doesn't a form 8 in any other aircraft automatically drive an unqualified status? 202v1: "2.2. Requalification Training. An aircrew member is unqualified upon expiration of his or her qualification evaluation, loss of currency exceeding 6 months (for currency items specified in applicable AFI 11-2MDS Vol 1, IAW paragraph 3.4.3.2), or completion of a qualification evaluation in a different MDS (unless multiple qualification has been approved prior to the evaluation), whichever occurs first. The duration of unqualified time is from the date the aircrew member became unqualified until the specific retraining start date. For aircrew members who are not authorized multiple qualification and who complete a qualification evaluation in a different MDS, members must complete requalification training as specified below to regain qualification in the original MDS. For all aircrew members except flight surgeons, requalification requirements are as follows: (MAJCOMS may providemore restrictive guidance and may adjust requirements as necessary to allow for aircrew member experience level and similarity of aircraft types. Provide specific guidance in command supplements or AFI 11-2 MDS Vol 1.) (Terms TX-1, TX-2 and TX-3 identify formal courses required, from longest to shortest course.) (As noted below, completing the ETCA formal school flying training course is the desired standard. When attendance is not practical or quotas are not available, units will request waivers as specified in the applicable AFI 11-2MDS Vol 1, to conduct in-unit IQT, using formal school courseware.)" From the MAF side these at least used to be seen as a method to crossflow because they had to send you back to the schoolhouse anyways so you'd request a new mws at the same time.

AFGSC guys are currently still getting tagged for the deployments (last few have been volunteers). No formal re-qual required since they’re only out of the jet ~8 months.

Wow, what a change. Thanks for the explanation.

3 years later thread bump. Are these deployments still dropping with the stateside squadron stood up? Saw one come down maybe a year ago but none since. Also is universal qualification typically approved for these deployments, or some other reg that allows you to keep two qualifications? Needing a re-qual in your MAF airframe would make this a pretty shit deal.

@lloyd christmas I took your post and article to mean exactly what you intended, any side digging in hard and propagating their spew. My tin foil hat uncle is so far into conspiracies, I mess with him by saying, "That's what the Chinese want you to think." I'll try to find it, but an investigative writer did a story on a '24 congressional campaign that was trying to set a spending record. Dude flew to the state, listened to all the ads, went to bars and chatted with locals, and almost everyone asked on who they supported and why, gave at least 1 buzzword/phrase from the ad blitz, regardless of the side they supported. IDK if the writter asked how many changed their vote based on the ads, but the point was the ads do get inside our heads. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/11/election-results-donald-trump-kamala-harris-ads-montana.html

@lloyd christmas sorry my post wasn't meant to be a spear at you, more at Crenshaw. He comes off really holier than thou like he's cracked some code of critical thinking and is now immune to groupthink. Except he only seems capable of identifying groupthink when it occurs among the people he already disagrees with. As for the examples I provided, yes obviously there is a whole world of context surrounding each one. I would argue the same applies for BLM, trans, and all the woke left punchlines the right likes to oversimplify. My point was simply that at some time or another, the entire right wing in America was completely fixated on the issues I listed in a mass hysteria just like the left was with BLM or #metoo. And it was 100% due to the right wing media whipping them up into a lather about it. You think some republican in Kansas would have known a single thing about Benghazi if fox hadn't been shoving it down their throat every night for weeks straight? Of course not. 99.9% of people probably couldn't even tell you what country or even continent Benghazi is in. So reiterating my point here, if anyone is going to have a conversation about identifying and preventing groupthink and media programming, they need to do better than just listing all the crazy shit their political opponents do. The hardest groupthink to sniff out is the one happening on your own side, and only once people can do that have they actually obtained any level of critical thinking.

Thanks for the response Pooter. I’m not one to get into internet arguments or go back and forth with people online. But, I’ll respond. I honestly wasn’t trying to compare one side vs the other, I was simply trying to point out that there is some interesting science behind the manipulation of large groups of people through politicians and the media and that there are real negative, tangible consequences because of the manipulation and herd mentality. With that said, I’m struggling to see how pizzagate, Obama birtherism, wind turbines cause cancer, the war on Christmas, satanic panic, or immigrants eating dogs are anything other than silly clickbait. Those headlines have not had a tangible negative effect on our society. The other examples you listed have had more tangible negative effects on us. Americans died because of gross mismanagement and poor decision making by those in charge in Benghazi, much like the exit from Afghanistan. Vaccines may or may not cause autism, however the truth is coming out about the vaccines. And it’s not good. Stop the steal references the 2020 election. We should all be aware of how big tech, social media, legacy media, politicians and Hollywood coordinated to suppress one side of the political aisle while ignoring true scandals by the other including the laptop and the pay to play schemes the Biden's were involved in. Hindsight is 20/20 and the truth always comes out. Hillary’s emails and the facts surrounding that fiasco exposed the double standards in the legal system between regular people and those in power. That’s tangible and factual. You and I would have been locked up for what she did. BLM marches and the associated violence based on policing lies caused real destruction as well as setting race relations back. Trans issues are very real. The massive increase in the trans population needs addressed. Whoever or whatever is driving this for profit scheme needs exposed. There are endless young people being physically altered permanently because of it. Jews are being harassed and now in at least one example killed over violent rhetoric on college campuses. Yes, groupthink is an issue on both sides. No doubt about it. I’m interested in the science behind it. That’s all my original post was meant to highlight.

Interesting that the only “manias” listed are the ones the left succumbed to. Conveniently absent are: stop the steal, Obama birtherism, Benghazi, but her emails, pizza gate, qanon, vaccines cause autism, wind turbines cause cancer, the great replacement, white genocide, the war on Christmas, satanic panic, immigrants eating dogs in Ohio.. to name just a few of the right’s greatest hits. Turns out, sniffing out manufactured manias and herd mentality is only hard when the propaganda aligns with your pre-existing biases. It’s actually super easy to tell when the “other side” is acting crazy. These guys haven’t discovered anything or improved their BS detection skills at all. Any discussion of groupthink that doesn’t acknowledge it going in both directions is fundamentally un-serious.
