I just saw something on C-130.net about a downed Herk in Afghanistan.

Here's to hoping for any shred of good news.

I started to comment yesterday and decided against it, but a couple of things to think about. In a larger aircraft when you do a flight control check as a pilot, your flight controls have been ch

A U.S. C-130 transport plane crashed at Jalalabad airport in Afghanistan early Friday, the military said.

The crash happened shortly after midnight local time (3:30 p.m. ET), coalition spokesperson U.S. Army Col. Brian Tribus said.

"Cause of the crash and status of crew and others onboard remains unknown," Tribus aid. "We are gathering more information and will release as appropriate."

The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop aircraft used to transport personnel and oversized cargo.

Here's to hoping for the best.

Fortunately my prior squadron (61 AS) just returned from Afghanistan. Prayers and wishing it's not bad.

Reports say twelve people, five of the dead were U.S. service members that were the crew of the aircraft, five were civilian contractors who were passengers, and two were local Afghan civilians who were killed on the ground. God bless.

Greta on Fox just reported 12 deaths associated with the crash: 5 crew, 5  US Contractors and 2 Afghan civilians.

Thoughts and prayers to the lost airmen,  passengers and their families.

Crew of 5 makes me think it's a slick J with the tactics LT riding along.

Anyone know if it's an AMC or AFSOC tail?

It's not a Little Rock crew.

It's not a Little Rock crew.

You hope. I know little rock came home recently, but do they have any crews at the Deid or Saleem who might have headed north for a little deployed TDY?

Little Rock is supporting AFRICOM out of two locations. No ops to the sandbox.

Glad to hear. Thanks

Air Force Times is saying a J from the 774th EAS.  Also saying 6 US dead.

God damnit...

Have we narrowed it down to it must be a Dyess crew?  Or was that picture only meant to represent a generic J?
