  1. The problem goes all the way back to recruitment. We aren’t getting America’s best…we are getting the best the USAF can/wants to recruit. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  2. People complain about the USAF because right now pilots have numerous well paying alternatives. If the economy goes to hell, the airlines furlough, etc, those same sideline sport b-tcher’s happily resubmit and beg for employment from big blue. I’ve seen it multiple times in my 23 years. Right now is unprecedented though. Pilots have a ton of well paying opportunities so it just really comes down to personal priorities (money/family/flying cool jets vs a fat bus etc) and life circumstances. 3. Forgive me Huggy but should we keep teaching form landings for B-2/U-2 companion trainers or were you getting at something else? For the record I have 1200+ hrs in the T-38 and form landings never scared me but in 4,000+ hours spread over 4 airframes, it was never once necessary. 4. How accurate is the “take hourly airline pay x $1,000 and that’s your pay” guidance? A guy told me that’s accurate for year 1 but then the reality after is much higher. Anyone have good data? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. No, it’s still being worked out. If interested start talking to a undermanned unit. This won’t be for every airframe/every location. It’ll be used to fill shortfalls in specific MDS and locations that need to retain experience. I’m betting FTUs and pilot training bases will see the most opportunities. 6. Guard reserves are 1100 pilots short…unfilled TR positions in certain AFSCs can go to retired people. There are limfacs such as time out of the jet/retraining etc. Not everyone will qualify. No timeframe given for implementation. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  7. Craniums up…the indispensability program is on the upswing so if you are near retirement and want to retire then serve as a TR with an undermanned unit, it may be possible soon. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  9. I hear non-coyote brown Friday shirts are soon to be gone via the new uniform reg update. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  10. Where I’m at, a guy everyone thought should/would be fired for abhorrent performance and loss of credibility among all who worked for him was just made a commander. USAF standard Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  11. Question for any AMEX users out there. Is Reserves covered to get the fee waived? I left active duty and went full time MPA and just got a letter saying I need to pay the fee. Not sure if I’m back under the protection or not. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  12. It’ll be messy at first like all new programs but will get better. Moving to sims is good. I’m excited for FTU next to up the sim footprint and streamline fighter training out of incapable moas and ranges. Needs to happen. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  13. USAA has a 9 mo CD at 4.5%, American Express banking has a 3.5% High yield account. I know I could find higher but I still like to keep my stuff with people I know for the simplicity of moving it/checking. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  14. I did 20+ yrs AD, loved it so much I joined the reserves but also got in with an airline. Knowing what I do now of reserves and airlines, I’d never tell a kid it’s smart to take the bonus. Individual circumstances may vary but overall, run from AD. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  15. I have a titanium brace in my vertebre that usaf med has tried to kill my ejection seat qual multiple times and led to significant lifestyle adjustments and pain management….20% PTSD for an admin never outside the base SSGT I know…100% Kinda screwy. 16. ^^^ spot on. I did 21+ yrs AD and while I loved it, I now wish I had joined airlines sooner and done reserves. I disregarded airline guys and now I’ve got a hint of jealousy for my old peers who played it smarter, still fly jets part time and earn $100k more per year working less. 17. Amusing thing I found today: after 21 years/4,000 hours in ejection seats and all the neck/back issues associated I ended up with a smaller disability rating than my neighbor who just left after 4 years in an office. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  18. 3rd year Delta (expect other majors to bump shortly) first officer pay will be ~$210,000 per year plus profit sharing + 401k. I’d say the USAF has some problems coming up. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  20. Any delta guys on her have the new proposed Delta pay scales? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  21. My base is requiring masks again. Dumb as fooook
  22. I’d rather cut all the dead weight personnel than new tech. At my base if you got rid of all the NCO’s that are sucking up $60k per year struggling to justify their existence you could give each pilot a $100k+ bonus and still save money.
  23. American was rumored to be in the process of doing that.
  24. Please expand. Not sure if I’m going to argue for or against you yet.
  25. I’m trying to figure out what problem is trying to be solved here. An armed bizjet at 55k in a beam orbit with side radars isn’t going to last very long if someone doesn’t want it to be there.
