  1. Raise it to 60...if that were the intent I would consider but the Dems want to eliminate any discussion and go to a simple majority, dangerous regardless of who is in power. Then stop accepting that power has been ceded to the executive branch...fight it, in the court if necessary. Regardless of how the SCOTUS lean politically they have been fairly brutal to many EOs (Obama's immigration EO in particular), but both sides have been reluctant to truly press the EO issue through the courts to the SCOTUS, instead the fight in the context of each EO.
  2. AOC is so woke she almost died during the riot at the Capitol and she wasn't even there! How do any of you who hate Trump for being a liar turn around and defend this lying twat?
  3. So much disagree with this post... I wish more people would read the Federalist Papers and the reasoning and logic behind what the framers built in the Constitution. They had a longer view of government based on history and study of the great philosophers like Locke, Plato and Socrates. They understood the extremes and challenges as presented by Machiavelli. They were great thinkers and did not resolve every concept to a 30 second sound bite. One thing is certain, the framers in an attempt to build a "more perfect union" wanted their to be debate, discussion, consensus. They did not want rapid change or Crazy Ivan's that reacted to public opinion. Time as a function of legislation served to let tempers cool and logic persist. The filibuster serves that purpose along with many others. Going to a simply majority in the name of timely legislation is a gross misunderstanding of what our system is supposed to be. Again, SLOW change, build on logic and consensus. That was the intent of America.
  4. And Robinhood has lifted all trading restrictions now that their "regulatory liquidity" issues have been resolved...or should we say not that the price of Gamestop stock has tumbled from $545 down to below $90 and all the small guys who challenged the short are getting crushed.
  5. What is surprising to me is the inconsistent approaches are yielding the same outcomes. Obviously Florida has leaned into the stay open camp full force and honestly I am surprised at the results when compared to full lock down states. As I stated before I have a pending business trip to New Mexico that was put on hold because New Mexico is on full lock down (Schools all virtual, no dining in restaurants, 14 day mandatory quarantine for ALL of of state visitors). In fact, New Mexico has labeled a48 of 49 other states as high risk. Having had a nasty fight with COVID I am in favor of protective measures, masks, social distancing, washing hands and most importantly SCIENCE. That being said the "close everything" approach is NOT working and it is wrecking state and city economies while yielding the same outcome with COVID. When school started we had a long family debate about sending our son back or going virtual. Our son was 100% "I am going back." My wife was against it and I was down the middle. Virtual has a lot of limitations and I worried about the social interaction aspect. I work primarily from home and business trips have been minimal the past year so I could help him if needed, but I thought he would learn more and do better in person. Ultimately we decided to send hm in person. He has been sent home to quarantine twice do to "close contact with a positive case." One of those periods coincided with Hurricane Sally so he only missed two days of actual school. The second one aligned perfectly with a holiday and weekends and again he only missed a few days of actual school. When our family (including him), got COVID that did keep him out for about 10 days and I was worried how that would impact his grades. I spent a LOT of extra time reviewing right before he went back because he was walking into end of term exams. He ended up pulling five A's and one B's for the term. I went to pick up a pizza at our local joint two weeks ago and noticed EVERY seat in the place was full, including the bar. We started paying more attention and have gone out to eat two times in the last two weeks. We walked in with masks and people looked at us funny. NO ONE else in either restaurant had a mask on, I was shocked. So I've been watching the state and local numbers expecting a big spike and it simply has not manifest. I have continued to compare the New Mexico numbers against Florida and I am still bewildered by the result. Keep in mind Florida has 10 times as many residents as New Mexico so when you view these numbers you will note New Mexico is testing a higher percentage of people, but the infection rate in the aggregate is almost exactly the same. Florida - New daily cases: 6,979, Tests per 100,000: 515.4 New Mexico - New daily cases: 670 Tests per 100,000: 717.1 My amateurish analysis would not pass peer review but I think at the 69,000' level it shows total lockdowns are making an appreciable difference and we need a better more thought out approach that doesn't wreck the economy.
  6. “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it"
  7. Not saying you are wrong, but there is other evidence to suggest you only need one shot. Also, your immunity timeline is off from what I have read. YMMV. Previously infected COVID-19 patients may only need 1 vaccine dose "Their antibodies started peaking at seven days, and they also achieved higher amounts of antibodies and neutralization of the virus in 14 days compared to those who have tested negative."
  8. There you go throwing your White Privilege around again...
  9. Concur...Every time the Dems open Pandora's Box it comes back to haunt them...yet they continue to play with the handle. Biden's Supreme Court commission set to launch as some liberals are eager to pack the court Schumer: Ditching filibuster not ‘off the table For the second time in just over a year, the House delivered to the Senate an impeachment charge against Trump.
  10. I would say that is true if you have not had COVID. I had a nasty case over Christmas and have been told by multiple doctors that I may still get the vaccine, but I have solid antibodies for at least 90 days (a recent study found antibodies after 11 months). The CDC and other are still studying reinfection which will likely take a while to resolve with certainty and while the recommend you still adhere to protective measures (masks, hand washing...etc.), they also state this on their website - there here have been a few recorded cases of coronavirus reinfection, but they remain rare. Given these facts I think I am safe to wait another 60 days and allow others who are more vulnerable to get the vaccine, I also think there is a very low probability that I could pass it on to someone else.
  11. My company has paperwork from DoD stating we are all Essential to national defense which bumps our priority for the vaccine. Even if I hadn't had COVID I could not look myself in the eye if I jumped the line in front of someone who is vulnerable. Even though I am COVID Complete, I want to get the vaccine, plan is to until later this summer when the demand curve flips.
  12. I've know him for a long time and I applaud him for sticking to his beliefs. His family sounds like a real work of art.
  13. Concur...reflecting on feedback throughout my career that I use profanity as a verb, noun, adjective....you get the fucking picture.
  14. Amen brother. As a commander I tried to stay old school, there is no substitute for a good old fashion ass chewing...yell, throw in some profanity to get the point across. Perhaps not professional but I saw no need to electrocute every Airman for a simple mistake....a mistake I probably made at one point and was lucky not to get caught doing. If we truly believe people are our greatest asset, then invest in them, not only when they do good, but also when they do bad.
  15. I wish ALL networks would press folks regardless of political party...that was the original intent of the press. I hear you on Boston, my sister lives up there and everytime I visit it is a shitshow. My brother-in-law is a deputy police chief in the area and he drives like a maniac...and that is saying something considering how fast I drive.
  16. Agree we need a plan, but the plan we are signing up for puts an unfair burden on the U.S. ($20,000 per American family), when we are not the biggest emitters of green house gases AND we are already decreasing our emissions. I am not a climate change denier...It is real, it is a threat and we need to take action NOW. The problem is the United States should not have to shoulder an unfair burden. By the way, even though we left the Paris Climate Accord, We have reduced our emissions more than any other industrialized nation...the real threat is China.
  17. Clearly... Since I've already had it I will wait until it is more widely available this summer.
  18. Yes they do and I am sure you and the other folks that voted for Biden are proud of his achievements like some of the following. - 42 Executive Orders, more than any President in history. More than Trump and Obama combined. Even though he said Dictator use EOs. - Keystone Pipeline - 10,000 lost jobs and gas prices on the rise up, 9% locally (there are of course other factors as well). I feel so much safer given there are no other pipelines out there...oh wayment. - Paris Climate Accord - No worries John Kerry promised West Virginia Coal miners "Solar Panel manufacturing" jobs even though 73% of that capability resides in China. - Stopped withdraw from AFG. Hurray, endless deployments for all my friends. - Let it slip that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will get vaccine before millions of vulnerable Americans he tried to kill. UFB!
  19. Someone is driving around my town posting signs in the median of the main roads that say "The vaccine is not real."
  20. Mainly because of the tripe she used to spew at State.
  21. Nope...just had mine and they said no dice. USAA comes to house, Dude walks in with a scale and draws blood. Also, asks if you use tobacco then does a test to verify.
  22. Yes I looked at the Columbia/Cessna 400. They are a bit faster than the SR-22 but they have a few drawback in my opinion. 1. Again high wing loading so keep the traffic pattern in mind and they like much longer runways. 2. Not many of them out there and the ones that are available had a lot of hours or were close to an engine overhaul. 3. Without an extra engine or system like CAPs, I was not hitting the safety aspect my wife wanted. 4. The useful load is a very close to my Saratoga. I believe the ones with AC and ice protection have a useful load of 1050-1100. With full gas you only have 460LBS for crew and bags. 5. Higher insurance cost. Overall a good plane and perhaps a better fit if there are only two people traveling.
