Holy Jezus! What the ###### is that?! A forum dedicated to one of the tyrants I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Hell yes! I worked at HQ American Forces Network (AFN)-Europe during his reign of terror and the post about his spots is 100% true. He would record a spot, then sit and monitor AFN waiting for his spot to air. If time ran out and his spot hadn't aired he was on the phone chewing out the AFN-E/CC (Army) asking why. On one occasion a spot from Gen B.B.B. aired right before one of F-song's. He called the station and bitched out the commander saying (paraphrasing) "How in the hell does and Army general outrank an Air Force general?!?!" I have it on hearsay from my former supervisor that kindly asked F-song to remove his sunglasses during one of the spot tapings. It seems F-song threw a temper tantrum and asked "why?" My supervisor told him that by not removing them, they made him look "shifty". F-song only then, removed his sunglasses. I completely forgot about "speed pants". LMMFAO! Classic. I really wish I could find some of those old spots, but I've long been gone from the "Golden Days". I'll keep digging though. You also realize he is the only service chief in the last decade that has had to deal with sequestration, and his budget and man power being slashed while not expecting any reduction in bases, aircraft, or mission capability. He gave a speech today at Creech, and he cares but he doesn't have the resources to make everyone (or anyone) happy. He is straight forward, and willing to discuss anything. But he was also willing to put people in their place from a SSgt, to a Major, to the friggin wing commander (in front of his wing) when they asked questions about "why are we getting worked so hard" and he told them "everyone everywhere is getting worked hard...it isn't just here. So any bodies or resources I move are getting taken from somewhere else." That said, he also pointed out that he is robbing Peter to pay Paul to get us some help and that the COMACC will be working hand in hand with him. He has been given a heaping pile of manure and he is doing what he can to hand out palatable sh*t sandwiches, because that is all he has to offer. If you don't like it blame/contact your elected officials.

Probably but good to put them on the spot. I take them at their word (sort of) when they say sequestration is why they have to divest the A-10 (and KC-10) but I have to wonder why not just propose an alternative plan with a price tag and see if Congress bites? What other job does the CSAF aspire to that keeps him from going big and just seeing if Congress bites? Propose the LAAR or an inexpensive (in airplane terms) platform to fill CAS once the threat is suppressed and you also have a good COIN platform. Let's face it, the old order of the post WWII post colonial world is going to continue to breakdown, we will not be engaged in occupation / rebuilding Iraq style operations but in smaller scale operations of COIN / Capacity Building; having something inexpensive and not too technically challenging or too expensive to operate for our allies and can perform CAS efficiently is a win-win. His (CSAF) job is to lead us to a better place not make the trip downward more pleasant thru smooth talking points. Edit: grammar

There's actual evidence that trying to avoid and be protected against your "triggers" further perpetuates and reinforces their impact on your life. Turns out acknowledging it and learning how to deal is better. Who knew being a pussy, further perpetuated pussy behavior.

You can do it. Not a reservist, but did go full-time to a top 20 program with a couple reservists/folks in the guard. Couple things to remember: 1. Most programs don't have class on Friday, which is helpful if you have to travel to your unit. 2. You get the standard long academic break over Christmas. 3. You have to do an internship between the two years, but you still should have 4-5 weeks off during that time. 4. You have to go to class. So Monday-Thursday during the academic year is pretty much non-negotiable, meaning you have to be in the seat attending. 5. Lots of shit to do outside class: organizations, interviews, projects, drinking, socializing, but if you make your reserve duty a priority, you can do it. Best of luck to you!

I have seen two guys attend full-time MBA courses in the last 4 years. Both were guard bums and made it work; their spouses were fully on-board with the time and financial sacrifices necessary and it has worked out well for them. I believe they both used the Post-9/11 GI Bill to make it happen. They would fly in the evenings or on days they didn't have class, and take trips in between semesters.

Against a peer adversary, the A-10 stopped being a Day-1 weapon around the time that it was rolling off of the assembly line. We were simply going to accept higher attrition in the Fulda Gap as part of the plan. By the 90's, the Hawg wasn't even a Week-1 weapon. Going into 2020, the Hawg simply won't be in the fight until ground troops cross the line. But there's the rub--we don't roll ground troops under contested airspace. So yes, the A-10 will sit in the chocks until the air is permissible--and it's going to continue to need cover while it does it's job. But the capabilities simply do not translate to those platforms which are being counted on to bring down the air threat, and provide cover moving forward. The F-35 simply won't do under the weather, low vis, escort, rescort, knife-fight close proximity...and the list goes on. To be blunt, the A-10 and it's core TTPs just aren't that far removed from an A-1D over VN. But then again, linear battlefield infantry tactics (at least looking down from the air) haven't either. Leaders have become accustomed to pred feeds and the whispers of the military industrial complex saying "but with this new technology just around the corner, EVERYTHING will be different". My bet is that even in a German Formula 1 team garage, amongst the computers and precision calipers and multimeters, there's still a claw hammer in a drawer somewhere.
