2 on sheppard air for any written test. I've used them 4 times, only missed one question on 4 tests. Worth the cost.

Outside of that, FAA has some decent materials, though navigating around them can be a pretty big shift from the military. Info is generally similar, just arranged differently.

A good CFI is worth their weight in gold. And just like any checkride, ask around for gouge on examiners, as most have a script or common questions they go through.

Advisory circulars are kind of like FCIFs or FCBs, lots of info out there arranged by topic, released or updated as needed, if you want to self study on topics.

If you're a military IP, don't forget to also grab your CFI. Just takes a written exam (again, use sheppard air to prep). Though once you get it, make sure you don't let your CFI cert go non current, since you'll have to do a checkride to reinstate your CFI. Typically all you have to do is a set of CBTs (multiple vendors out there, $100-200 for the course) once every two years.

Also, if you're looking to get an ATP, going to a good school can help. I used Mil2ATP and had a great experience training with them. Sounds like there are a few other good ones out there as well that cater to military pilots.

They’ve got great info and flowcharts for getting from A to B .... even if you don’t have to test / prep

Anybody recently gone through the process of getting their R-ATP? Currently, looking at applying to a regional and getting gouge on the process to get cert.

Most of the regionals I looked at for my own employment prospects will cover the ATP. You need to be hired with the minimums. I've definitely seen it say minimums for ATP or R-ATP.

Thread Revival!  Looking at getting my ATP here in the next 6 to 9 months. I've looked into Mil2ATP and Sanders Aviation. I'm looking to see if anyone has any other East Coast recommendations, or any gouge on the above locations.  Thanks for the help!

Sanders 6 months ago for the practical, recommend. They were booking up pretty far out, I would recommend getting on the books sooner rather than later. Did the CTP on my own about year and half ago at Delta, it was a good experience, did the test on base. You can book a package deal through Sanders to knock it all out at once. FAA test while not hard, has a lot of questions, get a study software and set aside a bunch of time.

Mil2ATP was a great course. It’s not a pay to play program, but the instruction is top-notch and it’ll make you a better pilot. I did the CTP through the Delta training center (highly recommend) and the ATP practical in Goldsboro.

2. Sanders offers onsite accommodation. How is it or book a hotel?

I stayed in the Sanders double wides and thought it was a good option.  Cheap, fairly nice, and a 2 minute walk to the FBO.  It has a kitchen so you can cook your own food.  Also is easy stumbling distance after you get shitfaced at Gordo’s FBO rooftop bar.

It will cover all the CTP if you use an approved school, such as Delta. For the the practical you have to submit a certificate reimbursement, only covered $2500. Don’t remember off the top of my head how many months. 
 

Hotels for Sanders are about 15-20 min drive, but right near all the food. Accommodations on site are single wide trailers, they have kitchens with all the basics for cooking. I went in the winter, I was happy I stayed on site, we had some weather roll in and sorties kept getting delayed/pushed for a couple days, but the schedule changes were last minute so it was nice being right be there. (Was no fault of the school, cold temps/LL icing, but each day was forecast to clear up as the day went on, so they were leaning forward trying to get people done) 

Being in the trailers with some of the other folks I got some good gouge that was passed to them I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten. Trailers have WiFi but no TVs. 
 

Couple guys stayed in hotels in my group, they seemed equally as pleased being close to food/walmart and having a gym. Pricing was about the same.

Also, you have to have your class 1 medical to be reimbursed via GI Bill.

If you have any chance of using the GI Bill for higher education, for you or a dependent, save it for that. 
 

Right now my daughter is getting just over 90k a year for school from the GI Bill. So when I got my ATP, I bit the bullet and paid for it all out of pocket.
