Were you that young captain?

I think the statement ignores or looks past the good leaders who stay and assumes only an idiot would stay.

Negative. It is an interesting statement from a young guy I oversaw as a Flt/CC. He doesn't hold back his perspective.

So is it fair to say that UPT pilots won’t get wrapped up in this since they’re all T-coded? I mean, it could be fun to sunset tour at a ROTC det, but I’d just as soon keep flying.

They said they don't intend to non-vol people.  I'll take your ROTC job if you don't want it.

So if you disagree with him, your publically called out with your employer? Last time I checked, you can fight against ideas and people you disagree with, legally.  Calling out and labeling people like he did is weak intellectually and I’m sure there is some bullying law being broken.  Looks like he’s stalking people on Facebook as well, and he wonders why people think he’s a nut.  I guess he’s off his meds, not that all 3 people that read it would agree with him anyway.

@Butters

It’s hilarious that Butters fucks with him (donations and FB likes) on the outside.  I can only imagine how much further that’s pushing him over the edge.  And who moves the WA state and is surprised by the amount of liberals there?

So, about those promotions and instructor positions...

Maybe having kids has sapped my energy or something, but I can’t imagine giving as much of a shit about anything that he seems to care about everything.

My best bud who pinned on Lt Col in November is applying for a Det/CC position. But he is ripe for a 365 now simply for taking the devils rank of Lt Col. Dude has 23+ years in already.

If he's got 23+ years, does he have any ADSC that prevents a 7-day opt for a 365?  Plus, (and I know, needs of the Air Force, never trust AFPC, blah blah blah), the intent is to not deploy people while they are in these ROTC, UPT/UCT, and (with more wiggle room to deploy folks) FTU positions.

Unfortunately, he is Cyber and not rated. Has 2 kids and wants that extra $5K in his paycheck a year for Lt Col retirement. So he has to stay in for 3 years as a Lt Col in order to officially retire at the rank. He has deployed once for two months, but has had some great assignments (Korea, Germany, Florida, Colorado, Texas).

Congrats on Lt Col. Here is your rank along with some lube for your 365!

Ironically, I was chatting with my previous DO. I asked him if he was ready for retirement in November. He told me he can't retire until March 2021. Apparently, he didn't know you have to be in the rank for 3 years in order to retire and receive that extra $5K a year.

You need the three years to retire as a LtCol, but the retirement pay is based on the highest three years.  So he could always retire a little early and get an extra $2-3k a year instead of $5k.

True. I guess when you have two young kids you will need every dime you can get. His kids won't be leaving the nest for another 6-8 years.

As long as he isn't a complete moron, he's probably losing money with that plan. Take the 'free' healthcare, and get a grossly better-paying job on the outside.

He has deployed once for two months

Sounds like he deserves at least two 365s.

What makes you think he won't get picked up?  He was told explicitly by his SQ/CC, who happens to a really good friend of HAF/A1, to not worry it.  And who runs the promotion boards?  AFPC and HAF/A1!  Hello???

Additionally, he has a  Wg strat #1/1 *AND* he is the Wg DO of the qtr.  His records should place him at the bottom of the top 10% eligibles.  I am willing to bet he got the Super P as well..

Former CC thought I might get picked up for O-5 with this job. I thought my current CC might be on crazy pills with promotion talk. The quarterly Wing award happened this quarter so 2 months after PRF. It wasn't a Super P based on my gouge. BODN keeps my perspective grounded. Everything about my flying career has been non-standard compared to a guy in one MWS their whole career.

Does anyone (I.e. central boards and SR) actually care about FGO quarterly awards?

A guy I know passed over with a DP said that in his feedback session with AFPC, one of the factors they highlighted was a lack of FGO awards.  After that, I wrote a 1206 every quarter.

For those who have seen the guidance on rewriting NO PRFs for folks already in school, what's the gouge? I haven't heard anything from AFIT (although I'm sure they're not concerned until its time for the next board). Who writes these new PRFs, and who gives the strats?

I think it’s odd to have 100 NO PRFs written by losing units....now being replaced by AFIT? Or would the onus fall back on everyone’s old losing unit who may or may never t even know who those people are anymore (3-year PHD)

Yeah, that's my point. For folks who are leaving this summer, it makes sense for the losing unit to do them. But for folks like me, who will have been gone for well over a year by the time the next PRFs are done, it makes no sense at all. But how will AFIT strat folks?!

Sounds like a civilian responded to the guy you are referencing. Isn't that kind of being closed minded from a board perspective if you have won FGOQ at the squadron level 3-4 times, but never win at the Group, Wing, or a yearly? I would say most FGOs don't like to submit themselves for awards. You would think it's about you leading. But what do I know.
