stract
Yup, word is he's ok. The local WX guy just showed a return over the location where the jet went down and threw out his theory about how the jet may have been flying into the wind... 17D_guy
185 left? Are these getting replaced at all or is there just a time when they'll all be gone? Glad he's ok.

They're not getting replaced as the line recently just turned out their last one.
MojoF16
Glad to hear he is ok. Guess that dispels the rumor that if/when you pull the handle, a video from the CSAF pops up on the MFD and says, "No, no buddy, you try harder."

billy pilgrim
Glad to hear he is ok. Guess that dispels the rumor that if/when you pull the handle, a video from the CSAF pops up on the MFD and says, "No, no buddy, you try harder." This comment reminds me of the Shuttle program. First flight, STS-1, was a test flight flown by John Young and Rob Crippen (crew of two when it was designed for seven, just in case...) They had ejection seats. When everything tested out all right they took the ejection seats out for the pilots because not everyone could have them... which probably increased your level of motivation if you were flying that thing. Back on topic, good to hear he's okay... wonder what happened. This is from the News Herald: "Graff said hazardous materials units were on the scene as were flight investigators. Graff would not confirm whether jet fuel had been spilled." So... there's an aircraft with lots of carbon fiber and probably noxious chemical coatings BURNING and people are worried about some jet fuel getting into the soil. Didn't BP saturate that area already? EDIT for spelling. Edited November 16, 2012 by billy pilgrim
abmwaldo
They got the BP oil cleaned up but the paper mill is still spewing filth so it's a wash.

BB Stacker
They're not getting replaced as the line recently just turned out their last one. Although they did pay to stockpile all of the tooling instead of destroying it as is normally the case when a production line shuts down... (It's supposedly in case they need to do a SLEP, which with 185 and counting, they will more than likely need to...but you never know.)
HuggyU2
185 left? I'm guessing 183.
Napoleon_Tanerite
Off the top of my head there have been production F-22 crashes at Nellis, Edwards, Alaska, and now Tyndall. That's four, unless I missed any.

Napoleon_Tanerite
Don't worry, I'm sure it's still under manufacturer's warranty. Too bad the manufacturer seems to have worked out a "in soviet russia" type warranty-- build a flawed O2 system, get cut an additional multi-billion dollar contract to fix your own design flaw. Kind of like Northrop-Grumman being able to tell the AF to pound sand when their depot workers blew up a perfectly good E-8.
