  1. You shouldn't have any issues getting hired by a heavy unit. Might not be as competitive for fighters. If you aren't set on a specific location or aircraft, reach out to the bogidope.com guys to help you put together a solid resume and cover letters to cast a wide net. Good Luck. Cheers!
  2. The process is long. Its never to early make an introduction and express your interest in a military flying career. Even if you aren't ready, just talking to squadron folks will give you an idea of the type of community and aircraft you could see yourself in. Also, the more you can show up to UTAs and meet and greets, the more the squadron bros will get to learn about you. Hopefully, they'll think your a "cool" guy. Don't be a tool or a dbag when visiting squadrons. 9 times out of 10 when cold calling ppl, they will be more than happy to talk to you about squadron life or point you to proper person to talk to. Good Luck. Cheers
  3. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/sen-lindsey-graham-abandoning-afghanistan-would-pave-way-for-another-9-11 According to Trump, peace talks are dead. I never thought that making a deal with the Taliban would be the answer to the "how to leave Afghanistan" question. I don't necessary agree with the above article on how abandoning all hope would pave the way for another 9-11. Interested in what anybody else on here thinks or has to say.
  4. Being a sponge didn't take me very far at Rucker... "you can only have X number of penguins on an iceberg. One jumps on, another jumps off"
  5. Do all syllabus tracks get the same amount of T-6 solo hours? Only 3 hours seems to be a extremely low. If that is the case, it might be more of a "check in the box" ... "you did it, now move on to the next box" which brings no real benefit in my opinion. But hey, my opinion might not mean anything. I am a nobody Army helo guy UPT bound.
  6. It varies per state. I had to sign a 10 yr commitment to the ANG. Not sure how the reserves work. Because the agreement is with ANG it will not show in MPF. MPF tracks the standard 8 yr for off the street folks coming into the military with 4 of those yrs in the IRR if things don’t work out. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  7. Hell yeah cheers to that bro! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  8. Do you research on the PR mission and talk to some Pedro guys before selecting to go helos. Also, chances are your Cadre are all AD on a ROTC instructor tour. I’m sure they want what’s best for you. However, they only know so much about how the ANG and AFRC works. Trust, but verify and learn from early on as you get ready to begin your military career on the Officer side. No one will care more about career than you. Take your time, prepare and retest. Good luck. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  9. I was told by a friend of mine chasing the unsponsored route that you are no longer allowed to begin UPT without sponsorship from a unit. Can anyone confirm? Not sure if that’s recruiter here say rumor mill g2. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  10. Use the bogidope map search and global enterprise email system to email folks listed in the directory. Pm if you interested in a list I compiled about two years ago. It’s kinda old but they will probably put you in touch with the right person. When emailing random people in the global, I usually just attached one PDF with a CL, resume, and PCSM scores. It will get the conversation started. Keep your emails short and to the point. They are more likely to be forwarded to the right person if the receiver is not having to read a short story on your goals and dreams. Good luck. 11. Good info. I was curious about IFT. I have my commercial rotor wing license but zero fix wing time. My first fix wing flight could end up being in a T6. Might get some lessons here and there before UPT To somewhat understand the “flare” prior to touching down. In the helo world, we just come to a hover and land... I would rather skip IFT and go directly to UPT instead to having to attend IFT. Hope the rules haven’t changed. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  12. Should have read your original post. Sry. There was a guy I knew that got picked up at 35 for a fighter unit. Another dude that was sent to UPT at 37 but he was a 10 yr nav with heavy wing CC backing and maybe a LOR from a star.
  13. You must of been talking to the wrong people in the Army. In my old guard unit on the Apache side, there were multiple bros with DUIs that received a second chance. Stay motivated and keep casting a wide net. The bogidope guys are great. They will help you tailor your app to make your positive attributes shine. Don't be so quick to introduce the bad from your past in your application. Also don't hate yourself for the past. Its a complete waste of time to live in past constantly thinking about what you did wrong. Think about how you can make things better. Keep chasing the DEMON... because for ole guys with a stack against them... thats all it is. A demon that needs to be conquered. Stay motivated bro. Feel free to PM your app. Would love to check it out and share some Army contacts if your interested. Although I would say you should continue to chase the blue side with the Army as a plan LAST. Cheers
  14. I had severe pain during my last deployment. I went to the doc and he recommended doing back stretches similar to the video above. He recommended doing those for about 15 mins before taking the seat. I tried it a couple of times, but all joking aside, nobody has 15 mins before missions to stretch. 9 times out of 10, things were constantly changing and everyone seemed to be running around trying to stay on target to meet H hour. Eventually, the pain went away probably because I stopped flying during all together during my transfer process to the ANG. Had another bro that had similar pains that would wake him at night. He went to see a specialist and started flying with a custom back brace type of thing. I don't think it was approved by the flight doc or flight proved. Nevertheless it helped him with the pain. I don't think you would have such options in an ejection seat. Probably the best remedy is to take a break from the seat and hopefully it will heal up. good lucks bro.
  15. No shots.... A nice pat on the back will do.
  16. what's wrong with the Air Force? It failed to commit the first crime in space. Credit will now go the Army's Apache community. Perhaps this post also belongs in the "what's right with the Air Force". https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/magazines/panache/first-space-crime-nasa-astronaut-denies-hacking-spouses-data-during-iss-mission/articleshow/70836191.cms
  17. Are you AD or guard/reserves? It should be straight forward if you are guard or reserve. Unless you have an adso to the army. No ideas how long AD conditional release takes. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  18. Split train if they are a-holes. Keep your cards to yourself and don’t tell the ole man why you need to be excused. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  20. Except for old guys. That was the response I got 2 years ago when I sent them my app. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
