  1. Booze! Can’t go wrong with booze. Be sure to put your name in.
  2. If your ETP was approved and your just waiting on board results, chances are you got picked up. Hopefully for pilot and not your least desirables paths Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. Let the chief pilot say no to you... and even after saying No, if your persistent, perhaps they might consider you. Don’t listen to the recruiter. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  4. Are you AD Army wanting you go AD Air Force? How old are you? Q1- It’s absolutely a possibility. As long as you don’t have anything that will prevent the army from releasing you like an ADSO. Q2-As far as how convoluted things might get? It all varies on what route you are trying to take AD, AFRC, Ang. Whichever path you might choose, you will have to go thru a ARB process. The Air Force will take their sweet time validating your army aviation training. It sucks. It takes very long but at the end, most bros will get credit for some army stuff (flying hrs and flight pay initiation date). Q3 I’m not too sure about the training pipeline. You won’t have to go thru UPT but will have to attend the air forces 60 course in addition to a couple of PR courses. Lastly, check the IST website again. I remember last time I was lurking around on it there something about the Inter service transfer excluding pilot positions. I didn’t go AD, but did looked at it as a plan C... If things haven’t changed, the only way to jump ship is the apply to the active duty rated/UPT board that happens annually. I have some contacts for the folks that manage the board at Randolph AFB. If your goal is to go AD, give them a call. Ask questions about your specific situation. Hope that helps. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. There are plenty of other variables... it’s always something holding up the timeline. Medical, prior service validation stuff, you name it... I would use the two year as a worst case scenario that you’ll need to plan for. Mine was about 15 months. are you AD Air Force?
  6. If you have to do OTS and IFT, you might have to wait until FY21 for UPT. Also, even if your FC1 has been approved by WP, still needs approval from NGB SG... that could take some time... hopefully not to much longer. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  7. training for year FY20. ANG boards are scheduled and conducted at wing's discretion. With ANG boards, once someone is hired he/she is pushed thru pipeline until a slot is handed down from NGB. It usually takes about 1.5 to 2 years from hired to UPT. On a side note, I talked to a bro that works at Randolph that heard a rumor that both CSO and ABM are in critical demand. High number of folks declined the slot at last at years board. Probably why the total numbers why be up this year (lots of CSOs and ABM, decrease in pilot slots)
  8. The FY20 production of 1,400 ish pilots have to come from somewhere.... but I have no idea bros Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  9. Cant speak for ARC, but I got word from ANG that big blue cut the # of FY20 allocated slots from 155 to 90 (ANG only). Reserve probably saw a similar cut. Someone had said they were loading up AD ROTC and Academy applicants with pilot slots...
  10. The conditional release Is not part of the checklist so submitting it is not a requirement... however, if you do submit one, they will hold ur package until an extension has been received whenever it expires. Learned my lessoned on that one. So army bros, if your reading this, don’t submit a 368 along with ARB. You also don’t need ARB approval to submit for ETPs. Very important! There is more to the hold up at NGB, but when I hit 6 months waiting point, I went up to Andrews and stumble into A3 to ask some questions. Overall, folks are nice and they get ARB should NOT be a req for UPT Bound dudes. However, it’s a HAF requirement and they can’t do anything about it. 12. The slurpy machine was not there about a year ago. Maybe it was just installed. Never tried the espresso machines. Overall, I am happy to retract my statement above. All the other stuff you said were true. The dude walking around handing samples was awesome. In my defense, I've only been fortunate to sample the great cuisine at KAF. Haven't been able to travel the far reaches of the AOR yet. Hopefully soon. cheers
  13. 11 yr old bump... Wondering what the best/worst locations for the 135s guys are these days. I am a 47 driver jumping over to the tanker community. Only place I got to experience while in the Army and outside of the US was good ole Kanhadar. @busdriver. FYI, KAF has not changed much since your above description North line chow hall has descent food still, along with everything else you said. I was there '13 and again '17-'18. The experience might have varied from an Army point of view, been close to the flag pole sucked and army leadership loved to fuss at us about PT belts, eyepro, blousing deblousing pants for the flyer types, etc. Nothing like standing in line for chow after an 8hr ash-trash mission, only to get your ass chewed by some FOBed Sgt. Major. about your pants being unbloused. All while there might be a group of Air Force tanker dudes standing next to us wearing ball caps, with pants unbloused, laughing at us. We weren't allowed to wear ball caps. Only person who wore a ball cap in our task force was our SWO (air force dude). On a side note, KAF is now about half the size of what it used to be. Some areas look like zombie land with trash and crap all over the place.
  14. Had 3 interviews and I asked the same question in all before each one. For all three I just had to knock an come in. Maybe the heavy guys I was interviewing w were somewhat relaxed. No one told me to come in, salute and say reporting as order sir/ma’am... is it just an army thing? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  15. Anybody else waiting for FY20 UPT dates to drop on the Guard side?
  16. Is Chuck broke or does he really have a case against Airbus? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/international-business/article-the-wrong-stuff-chuck-yeager-who-broke-sound-barrier-sues-airbus/?fbclid=IwAR1nqqAaKdOr09sYfypdvv-tK7ccHkyFUjl6D3UihDDOSHdtnWeg2CokfzU
  17. your a young dude. Just keep showing up to UTAs and take every opportunity to stop by the squadron to say hello. Put your name out there. Don't be a tool and bring gifts (booze preferably). If all of the pilots are busy, don't be afraid to wonder over to the crew dawgs and wrench turners to chat with them. Their job is just as important. For one of the units that I was rushing for, I brought booze for the squadron bar and chick-fil-a for the crew dawgs. cheers
  18. Just finished reading "The Dream Machine" by Richard Whittle. Covers the development, marketing, and integration of the V-22. Provides an interesting look at a machine that could still revolutionize air travel....
  19. Perhaps you can try to get her fired from the military like that one marine that said "screw obama" a few years ago... next thing the poor fella is apologizing and getting kicked out of out of the military. We have a few folks holding office in our state, but I never hear about them mixing the military with their political views or agendas. Or perhaps I haven't been involved enough to experience senior officers unable to draw a line between military duty and political preference. If Generals can do it... then why not lower rank individuals. At the democrats' convention, Marine Corps Gen. John Allen, loved by all devil dogs out there, offered a thinly veiled swipe at Donald Trump. "I know that with HC as commander in chief, our international relations and foreign policy will not be reduced to a business transaction or deal" But my personal favorite was at the Republican convention. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn joined the crowd's chants to arrest Hillary Clinton. "Lock her up, that's right," Flynn said. "Yeah, that's right, lock her up". I believe that our nation's soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines should not have to wonder about the political leanings and motivations of their leaders. But I guess in a non-military status, everyone is entitle to their own opinion.
