  1. It is a requal - sounds like there has been some good luck getting them to adhere to the obvious rules. And just to double check, getting passed over for Major makes all other ADSCs moot right?
  2. Any chance you can post that email trail if you still have it? I can PM you my .mil address if you want.
  3. Gents, Anyone press to test on the 36-2107 Note 1b vs 1c? I am PCSing with an expected RNLTD (~Aug '16) which is 34 months from my UPT expiration (Jun '19). As I am understanding this, I have to accept the PCS - but the 36 month requal ADSC does not apply because of note 1b - a position I was already Form 8 qualified in. Ergo, my ADSC will remain at Jun '19 regardless of when I finish FTU requal. Separately, all this will be moot if I get passed over for Major, because it will be a mandatory separation 6 months past my ABZ look regardless of all other ADSCs correct? Hoping for the best, but prepping for a shoe clerk battle royale. Thanks!
  4. People need to remember that the T-1 sends people to a bunch of MWSs, not just their own. NVGs/more LL/affected SPINS are aircraft specific. Furthermore, the T-1 syllabus has been gutted since when the majority of this board went through. With every syllabus revision, flight hours are cut. The -135 is notoriously difficult to land. C-130s are giant Cessnas, etc. We could push the training onto the MWSs, certainly T-38 studs have done it, but it's going to take a lot more time, money and energy to do so. But in the long run, with a paid for fleet, keeping basic Nav/AR/LL principles in a simple multi engine jet (with proper CRM) is a lot cheaper than training it in a C-17.
  5. Depends on the base/Flight Commander. Some have you list every option possible (1-~50) for trades and changes from AFPC.
  6. Thanks all. I am canceling my training mid way through with T Black Aviation (Tampa, FL). I know some here have had success with them, but I've had a lot of issues, and going with a more vetted flight school to make sure I can keep checking "I have never failed a flight evaluation" on my soon to be applications. Update: Flight school tried to take me for a ride. Changing insurance requirements/suspicious instructor hours/hourly flight costs/altimeter off 100+ feet and called them out on it. Dropped off the final check and the owner kept trying to argue/escalate, spent about two minutes deescalating and politely left as another patron walked in. Good luck. Update 2: Emailed me later demanding more cash, looked at it and they added their own bill up wrong. PM me a .mil address if you're interested in the email traffic. Ate a significant loss but checkride history still in tact. Heartily recommend avoid.
  7. Question: Did any of y'alls flight schools require you to purchase non owner renters insurance for light twins? (~$380) before starting training?
  8. Side tangent: After reading Gate's book, he details pretty well why the AF was such a pain in the ass. The obsession with "the next war" caused a direct conflict to the war we were already in. The AF constantly neglected his priorities while continuing their own internal direction. Coupled with some monumental screw ups, the AF did very little to regain his trust, which culminated in the firing of Wynne/Moseley and then some. http://archive.defensenews.com/article/20140109/DEFREG02/301090020/Gates-Details-Headaches-Caused-by-US-Air-Force-During-His-Tenure
  9. Any opinions on T. Black Aviation for Tampa? http://www.tblackaviation.com/ATP-Training.html
  10. Wow, that post. Upvoted! I remember in 2010-2011 there was RUMINT of standing up an ISR MAJCOM but I can't imagine it being on the table now with the AFGSC/AETC swaparoo. I was never in AMC (RJ/AETC guy) but yeah, if it's happening now and "working", no reason not to formalize it.
  11. I could see a squadron comprised mainly of E's doing the flying, and O's running the squadron. Like Os for Sq/CC, DO, and maybe ADOs/Flight CCs, while the enlisted did the majority of the line flying. Everyone would be flight qual'd, but the roles in the squadron would be very different.

  13. The problem is disproportionate punishment for underage drinking. On base driving suspension, career implications, LoRs, etc. One crime Air Force, I can completely understand the victims mindset here. 2.
  14. I researched Sky Warrior on here and around, kind of had a negative impression. Called four times (over 3 months out) and they took down my number and would call me back to schedule. I called 1 month out, and 2 weeks out and they still said they were working on it, but would call me back. Finally called again and said their local examiner needs to give two checkrides with the FAA in the back seat, but would call me back when they had a lead on the other examiners. I asked the lead instructor who does ATP to call me back, never did. I never got a single call back, so I'll go to DT Aviation/Tulsa CC.
  15. http://www.airforcetimes.com/story/military/2015/05/01/air-force-says-some-crew-members-treated-after-fire-on-jet/26700047/ Seems a bit more benign now after the initial report.
  16. That was an RC-135 a few days ago according to Air Force Times.
  17. You're absolutely correct, I didn't multiply by bases!
  18. Every solution is possible with enough money. It's hard to put yourself back in UPT, but the T-6 is a stupid simple plane. Like really, really simple. Even the T-1 isn't that complex after flying -135s. There needs to be something in the middle from going to T-6 direct C-5. I mean, you don't even do TOLD in the T-6, you get max torque for the day when you step! I do believe the T-1 program is something the USAF got right. Crew mentality, multi engine scenarios, variable daily TOLD, shoots every type approach, reverse controls for AR, etc. We can go back to the T-X and teach all of that in the MWS, but it's gonna be going from a plane that cost $2k/hour to fly to something that's $25k/hour or more... for all 1200ish student pilots UPT graduates every year. edit: wait, this is the A-10 thread?
  19. The more things change, the more things stay the same?
  20. Haven't heard that, should would be nice. This is the last update I got: http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2015/03/lawmakers-seek-reverse-cuts-some-travel-allowances/106434/
  21. So for anyone who has to go through this process, it is a process. They sent me the wrong form. Called them up, the VA said that the Letter of Eligibility was sent out two days after I got my current letter (dated 10 Mar 15) and to stand by and the actual Letter of Eligibility should be arriving in the next few days. On the plus side, I called 800-827-1000, hit option 2, didn't like what I heard, hit 0 for representative, then 3 for education benefits, and someone picked up after 30 seconds. That was nice.
  22. It's still here. For me, solicitations arrived in November with a RNLTD of May 2015.
